Entonces David dijo: Esta es la casa del SEÑOR Dios, y este es el altar del holocausto para Israel^a.

2 Y dio órdenes¹ David de reunir a los extranjeros que estaban en la tierra de Israel^a, y designó canteros para labrar piedras para edificar la casa de Dios^b. 3 Preparó David grandes cantidades de hierro^a para hacer¹ clavos para las puertas de la entrada y para las grapas, y más bronce del que podía pesarse^b; 4 y madera de cedro incalculable, porque los sidonios y los tirios trajeron grandes cantidades de madera de cedro a David^a. 5 Y dijo David: Mi hijo Salomón es joven y sin experiencia^a, y la casa que ha de edificarse al SEÑOR será de gran magnificencia, de renombre y de gloria por todas las tierras. Por tanto haré preparativos para ella. Y David hizo grandes preparativos antes de su muerte.

6 Entonces llamó a su hijo Salomón^a, y le encargó que edificara una casa al SEÑOR, Dios de Israel. 7 Y dijo David a Salomón: Hijo mío, yo tenía el propósito de¹ edificar una casa al nombre del SEÑOR mi Dios^a. 8 Pero vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo: «Tú has derramado sangre en abundancia, y has emprendido¹ grandes guerras; no edificarás una casa a mi nombre, porque has derramado mucha sangre en la tierra delante de mí^a. 9 He aquí, te nacerá un hijo, que será hombre de paz¹; yo le daré paz² de todos sus enemigos en derredor^a, pues Salomón^3b será su nombre y en sus días daré paz y reposo a Israel. 10 El edificará una casa a mi nombre, y él será mi hijo y yo seré su padre; y estableceré el trono de su reino sobre Israel para siempre^a». 11 Ahora pues, hijo mío, el SEÑOR sea contigo^a para que prosperes y edifiques la casa del SEÑOR tu Dios tal como Él ha hablado de ti. 12 Que¹ el SEÑOR te dé prudencia y entendimiento^a, y te dé dominio sobre Israel, para que guardes la ley del SEÑOR tu Dios^b. 13 Entonces prosperarás, si te cuidas de observar los estatutos y ordenanzas que el SEÑOR ordenó a Moisés para Israel^a. Esfuérzate y sé valiente, no temas ni te acobardes^b. 14 He aquí, con grandes esfuerzos¹ he preparado para la casa del SEÑOR cien mil talentos² de oro y un millón de talentos de plata^a, y bronce y hierro sin medida^b, porque hay³ en abundancia; también he preparado madera y piedra, a lo cual tú podrás añadir. 15 Además, contigo hay muchos obreros, canteros, albañiles, carpinteros y todo experto en toda clase de obra. 16 Del oro, de la plata, del bronce y del hierro no hay límite. Levántate y trabaja, y que el SEÑOR sea contigo^a.

17 David también ordenó a todos los jefes de Israel que ayudaran a su hijo Salomón^a, diciendo: 18 ¿No está con vosotros el SEÑOR vuestro Dios? ¿Y no os ha dado paz¹ por todos lados^a? Pues Él ha entregado en mi mano a los habitantes de la tierra, y la tierra está sojuzgada delante del SEÑOR y delante de su pueblo. 19 Disponed ahora vuestro corazón y vuestra alma para buscar al SEÑOR vuestro Dios^a; levantaos, pues, y edificad el santuario del SEÑOR Dios, para que traigáis el arca del pacto del SEÑOR^b y los utensilios sagrados de Dios a la casa que se ha de edificar para el nombre del SEÑOR^c.

Then David said, “^aThis is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

2 So David ¹gave orders to gather ^athe foreigners who were in the land of Israel, and ^bhe set stonecutters to hew out stones to build the house of God. 3 David ^aprepared large quantities of iron ¹to make the nails for the doors of the gates and for the clamps, and more ^bbronze than could be weighed; 4 and timbers of cedar logs beyond number, for ^athe Sidonians and Tyrians brought large quantities of cedar timber to David. 5 David said, “My son ^aSolomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the LORD shall be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all lands. Therefore now I will make preparation for it.” So David made ample preparations before his death.

6 Then ^ahe called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel. 7 David said to Solomon, “^aMy son, ¹I had intended to build a house to the name of the LORD my God. 8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘^aYou have shed much blood and have ¹waged great wars; you shall not build a house to My name, because you have shed so much blood on the earth before Me. 9 Behold, a son will be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and ^aI will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for ^bhis name shall be ¹Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days. 10 ^aHe shall build a house for My name, and he shall be My son and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’ 11 Now, my son, ^athe LORD be with you that you may be successful, and build the house of the LORD your God just as He has spoken concerning you. 12 ^aOnly the LORD give you discretion and understanding, and give you charge over Israel, so that you may ^bkeep the law of the LORD your God. 13 ^aThen you will prosper, if you are careful to observe the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD commanded Moses concerning Israel. ^bBe strong and courageous, do not fear nor be dismayed. 14 Now behold, ¹with great pains I have prepared for the house of the LORD ^a100,000 talents of gold and 1,000,000 talents of silver, and ^bbronze and iron beyond weight, for ²they are in great quantity; also timber and stone I have prepared, and you may add to them. 15 Moreover, there are many workmen with you, stonecutters and masons of stone and carpenters, and all men who are skillful in every kind of work. 16 Of the gold, the silver and the bronze and the iron there is no limit. Arise and work, and may ^athe LORD be with you.”

17 ^aDavid also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon, saying, 18 “Is not the LORD your God with you? And ^ahas He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before His people. 19 Now ^aset your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise, therefore, and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, ^bso that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built ^cfor the name of the LORD.”

Then David said, “This is ^athe house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

2 So David gave orders to gather ^athe foreigners who were in the land of Israel, and ^bhe assigned stonecutters to hew out stones to build the house of God. 3 David ^aprepared large quantities of iron to make nails for the doors of the gates and for the clamps (trusses) , and more ^bbronze than could be weighed; 4 and cedar trees beyond number, for ^athe Sidonians and Tyrians brought large quantities of cedar timber to David. 5 David said, “^aSolomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the LORD shall be exceedingly magnificent, famous, and an object of glory and splendor throughout all lands of the earth. So now I will make preparations for it.” Therefore, David made ample preparations before his death.

6 Then ^ahe called for Solomon his son and ordered him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel. 7 David said to Solomon, “^aMy son, I had intended to build a house for the ¹Name (Presence) of the LORD my God. 8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘^aYou have shed much blood and have waged great wars; you shall not build a house for My Name, because you have shed so much blood on the earth before me. 9 Behold, a son will be born to you, who will be a man of peace. ^aI will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for ^bhis name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days. 2+@Sam 12:24, 25 10 ^aHe shall build a house for My Name (Presence) . He shall be My son and I will be his father; and I will establish his royal throne over Israel forever.’ 11 Now, my son, may ^athe LORD be with you so that you may be successful and build the house of the LORD your God, just as He has spoken concerning you. 12 ^aOnly may the LORD give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge over Israel, so that you may ^bkeep the law of the LORD your God. 13 ^aThen you will prosper, if you are careful to observe and fulfill the statutes and ordinances which the LORD commanded Moses concerning Israel. ^bBe strong and courageous, do not fear nor be dismayed. 14 Now listen, ¹with great trouble I have prepared and provided for the house of the LORD ^a100,000 talents of gold, 1,000,000 talents of silver, and ^bbronze and iron beyond weighing, for they are great in quantity. I have also prepared and provided timber and stone, and you may add to them. 15 Further, you have workmen in abundance: stonecutters and stonemasons and carpenters, and all men who are skillful in every kind of work. 16 As for the gold, the silver, the bronze, and the iron, there is no limit. So arise and begin working, and may ^athe LORD be with you.”

17 ^aDavid also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, 18 “Is not the LORD your God with you? And ^ahas He not given you rest and peace on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before His people. 19 Now ^aset your heart and your soul to seek (inquire of, require as your vital necessity) the LORD your God. Arise and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, ^bso that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles and utensils of God into the house built ^cfor the Name (Presence) of the LORD.”

Then David said, “^aThis is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

Arise and work, and may ^athe LORD be with you.”

For He has handed over to me the inhabitants of the land, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before His people. 19 Now ^aset your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; then arise, and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, ^bso that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built ^cfor the name of the LORD.”
