Pablo, siervo de Dios^a y apóstol de Jesucristo^b, conforme a¹ la fe de los escogidos de Dios^c y al pleno conocimiento de la verdad^d que es según la piedad^e, 2 con la esperanza de vida eterna^a, la cual Dios, que no miente^b, prometió^c desde los tiempos eternos^d, 3 y manifestó a su debido tiempo^a su palabra por la predicación^b que me fue confiada^1c conforme al mandamiento^d de Dios nuestro Salvador^e, 4 a Tito^a, verdadero hijo^b en¹ la común fe^c: Gracia y paz de parte de Dios el Padre^d y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Salvador^e.

5 Por esta causa te dejé en Creta^a, para que pusieras en orden lo que queda, y designaras^b ancianos en cada ciudad como te mandé^c, 6 esto es, si alguno es irreprensible^a, marido de una sola mujer^b, que tenga hijos creyentes, no acusados de disolución^c ni de rebeldía^d. 7 Porque el obispo¹ debe ser irreprensible^a como administrador de Dios^b, no obstinado^c, no iracundo, no dado a la bebida^2d, no pendenciero, no amante de ganancias deshonestas^e, 8 sino hospitalario^a, amante de lo bueno^b, prudente, justo, santo, dueño de sí mismo, 9 reteniendo la palabra fiel^a que es conforme a la enseñanza, para que sea capaz también de exhortar con sana doctrina^b y refutar a los que contradicen.

10 Porque hay muchos^a rebeldes^b, habladores vanos^c y engañadores, especialmente los de la circuncisión^d, 11 a quienes es preciso tapar la boca, porque¹ están trastornando familias^2a enteras, enseñando, por ganancias^b deshonestas, cosas que no deben^c. 12 Uno de ellos, su propio profeta, dijo: Los cretenses son siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, glotones ociosos^a. 13 Este testimonio es verdadero. Por eso, repréndelos^a severamente^b para que sean sanos en la fe^c, 14 no prestando atención a mitos judaicos^a y a mandamientos de hombres^b que se apartan de la verdad^c. 15 Todas las cosas son puras para los puros^a, mas para los corrompidos e incrédulos nada es puro^b, sino que tanto su mente como su conciencia están corrompidas^c. 16 Profesan conocer a Dios^a, pero con sus hechos lo niegan^b, siendo abominables^c y desobedientes^d e inútiles^e para cualquier obra buena^f.

4 To ^aTitus, ^bmy true child in a ^ccommon faith: ^dGrace and peace inner calm and spiritual well-being from God the Father and ^eChrist Jesus our Savior.

5 For this reason I left you behind in ^aCrete, so that you would set right what remains unfinished, and ^bappoint ^1celders in every city as I directed you, 6 namely, ^aa man of unquestionable integrity, the ^bhusband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of ^cbeing immoral or ^drebellious. 7 For the ^1aoverseer, as ^bGod’s steward, must be blameless, not ^cself-willed, not quick-tempered, not ^daddicted to wine, not violent, ^enot greedy for dishonest gain but financially ethical. 8 And he must be ^ahospitable to believers, as well as strangers, a ^blover of what is good, sensible (upright) , fair, devout, self-disciplined above reproach—whether in public or in private. 9 ^aHe must hold firmly to the trustworthy word of God as it was taught to him, so that he will be able both to give accurate instruction in ^bsound reliable, error-free doctrine and to refute those who contradict it by explaining their error.

10 ^aFor there are many ^brebellious men who are ^cempty talkers just windbags and deceivers; especially ^dthose of the circumcision those Jews who insist that Gentile believers must be circumcised and keep the Law in order to be saved. 11 They must be silenced, because they are upsetting whole ^afamilies by teaching ^bthings they should not teach ^cfor the purpose of dishonest financial gain. 12 One of them Epimenides, a Cretan, a ¹prophet of their own, said, “^aCretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This description is true. So ^arebuke them ^bsharply so that they will be ^csound in the faith and free from doctrinal error, 14 not paying attention to Jewish ^amyths and the ^bcommandments and rules of men who ^cturn their backs on the truth. 15 ^aTo the pure, all things are pure; but ^bto the corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure; both their ^cmind and their conscience are corrupted. 16 ^aThey profess to know God to recognize and be acquainted with Him, but by their actions they ^bdeny and disown Him. They are ^cdetestable and ^ddisobedient and ^eworthless ^ffor good work of any kind.
