Entonces el SEÑOR habló a Moisés y a Aarón, diciendo: 2 Haced un censo¹ de los descendientes² de Coat, de entre los hijos de Leví, por sus familias, conforme a sus casas paternas, 3 de treinta años arriba hasta los cincuenta, todos los que se enlistan¹ para servir en la tienda de reunión^a. 4 Este será el servicio de los descendientes¹ de Coat en la tienda de reunión, con relación a las cosas más sagradas²: 5 Cuando el campamento se traslade, Aarón y sus hijos entrarán y quitarán el velo^a de separación, y con él cubrirán el arca del testimonio^b; 6 y colocarán sobre ella una cubierta de piel de marsopa^a, y extenderán encima un paño todo de azul¹ puro, y luego colocarán sus varas. 7 Sobre la mesa del pan de la Presencia¹ tenderán también un paño azul, y en él pondrán las fuentes², las cucharas, los tazones para los sacrificios y los jarros para hacer libación; el pan perpetuo estará sobre él^a. 8 Y extenderán sobre ellos un paño carmesí¹, y los cubrirán con una cubierta de piel de marsopa, y luego colocarán sus varas. 9 Tomarán entonces un paño azul y cubrirán el candelabro^a del alumbrado, las lámparas, las despabiladeras, los platillos^b y todos los utensilios para el aceite con que lo sirven; 10 lo pondrán con todos sus utensilios en una cubierta de piel de marsopa, y lo colocarán sobre las parihuelas. 11 Y extenderán sobre el altar de oro un paño azul, y lo cubrirán con una cubierta de piel de marsopa, y colocarán sus varas; 12 y tomarán todos los utensilios para el ministerio¹ con que sirven en el santuario, los pondrán en un paño azul, los cubrirán con una cubierta de piel de marsopa y los colocarán sobre las parihuelas. 13 Quitarán entonces las cenizas¹ del altar^a y extenderán sobre él un paño de púrpura. 14 Y le pondrán encima todos los utensilios con que sirven en relación con él: los braseros, los garfios, las palas y los tazones, todos los utensilios del altar. Y extenderán sobre él una cubierta de piel de marsopa y colocarán sus varas. 15 Cuando Aarón y sus hijos hayan terminado de cubrir los objetos sagrados y todos los utensilios del santuario, cuando el campamento esté para trasladarse, vendrán después los hijos de Coat para transportarlos, pero que no toquen los objetos sagrados pues morirían^a. Estas son las cosas que transportarán¹ los hijos de Coat en la tienda de reunión. 16 Pero la responsabilidad de Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, será el aceite para el alumbrado^a, el incienso aromático^b, la ofrenda continua de cereal^c y el aceite para ungir^d. Tendrá la responsabilidad de todo el tabernáculo¹ y de todo lo que en él hay, con el santuario y sus enseres.

17 Después el SEÑOR habló a Moisés y a Aarón, diciendo: 18 No permitáis que la tribu de las familias de los coatitas sea cortada¹ de entre los levitas. 19 Esto haréis con ellos para que vivan y no perezcan cuando se acerquen a los objetos santísimos^a: Aarón y sus hijos entrarán y señalarán a cada uno de ellos su trabajo y su carga; 20 pero no entrarán, ni por un momento, a ver los objetos sagrados, para que no mueran^a.

21 Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés, diciendo: 22 Haz también un censo¹ de los hijos de Gersón por² sus casas paternas, según sus familias; 23 los contarás¹ desde los treinta hasta los cincuenta años de edad; todos los que se enlisten² para cumplir el servicio, para hacer la obra en la tienda de reunión^a. 24 Este será el ministerio de las familias de los gersonitas para servir y para transportar: 25 llevarán las cortinas del tabernáculo^a, de la tienda de reunión, con su cubierta, la cubierta de piel de marsopa^b que está encima de él, el velo¹ de la entrada de la tienda de reunión, 26 las cortinas del atrio^a, el velo para la entrada del atrio que está alrededor del tabernáculo y del altar, con sus cuerdas y todos los utensilios para el servicio de ellos; todo lo que se deba hacer, ellos lo harán¹. 27 Bajo las órdenes¹ de Aarón y de sus hijos estará todo el ministerio de los hijos de los gersonitas, en relación con todas sus cargas y todo su trabajo; y tú les asignarás como responsabilidad todas sus cargas. 28 Este es el servicio de las familias de los hijos de los gersonitas en la tienda de reunión; sus deberes estarán bajo la dirección¹ de Itamar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón.

29 A los hijos de Merari los contarás por sus familias, por sus casas paternas; 30 los contarás desde los treinta hasta los cincuenta años de edad, todos los que se enlisten¹ para servir en la tienda de reunión^a. 31 Esta es su responsabilidad de lo que han de transportar, para todo su servicio en la tienda de reunión: las tablas del tabernáculo, sus barras, sus columnas, sus basas, 32 las columnas alrededor del atrio y sus basas, sus estacas y sus cuerdas, con todos sus utensilios y con todo su servicio; y les asignarás por nombre los objetos que han de transportar¹. 33 Este es el servicio de las familias de los hijos de Merari. Para todo su servicio en la tienda de reunión estarán bajo las órdenes¹ de Itamar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón.

34 Entonces Moisés y Aarón y los jefes de la congregación contaron a los hijos de los coatitas por sus familias y por sus casas paternas, 35 de treinta años en adelante hasta los cincuenta, todo el que se enlistó¹ para servir en la tienda de reunión^a. 36 Y los enumerados¹ por sus familias fueron dos mil setecientos cincuenta. 37 Estos son los enumerados de las familias coatitas, todos los que servían en la tienda de reunión, a quienes Moisés y Aarón contaron conforme al mandamiento¹ del SEÑOR por medio² de Moisés.

38 Estos son los enumerados de los hijos de Gersón por sus familias y por sus casas paternas, 39 de treinta años en adelante hasta los cincuenta, todo el que se enlistó¹ para servir en la tienda de reunión; 40 los enumerados, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, fueron dos mil seiscientos treinta. 41 Estos son los enumerados de las familias de los hijos de Gersón, todos los que servían en la tienda de reunión, a quienes Moisés y Aarón contaron conforme al mandamiento del SEÑOR.

42 Y estos son los enumerados de las familias de los hijos de Merari por sus familias y por sus casas paternas, 43 de treinta años en adelante hasta los cincuenta, todo el que se enlistó¹ para servir en la tienda de reunión^a; 44 los enumerados por sus familias, fueron tres mil doscientos. 45 Estos son los enumerados de las familias de los hijos de Merari, a quienes Moisés y Aarón contaron conforme al mandamiento del SEÑOR por medio de Moisés.

46 Todos los enumerados de los levitas a quienes Moisés y Aarón y los jefes de Israel contaron, por sus familias y por sus casas paternas, 47 de treinta años en adelante hasta los cincuenta, todo el que podía enlistarse¹ para servir y hacer el trabajo de transportar la tienda de reunión, 48 fueron¹ ocho mil quinientos ochenta^a. 49 Fueron contados^a conforme al mandamiento del SEÑOR dado por medio de Moisés, cada uno según su ministerio o según su cargo; yestos fueron los enumerados, tal como el SEÑOR había ordenado a Moisés.

Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 2 “Take a census of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their families (clans) , by their fathers’ households, 3 from ^athirty years old and upward, even to fifty years old, all who enter the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) . 4 This is the work and responsibility of the sons of Kohath in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) : the most holy things.

5 “When the camp prepares to move out, Aaron and his sons shall come into the sanctuary and take down ^1athe veil (curtain) screening off the Holy of Holies, and cover the ^bark of the testimony with it; 6 and they shall put on it a ^acovering of ¹porpoise skin (fine leather) , and shall spread over that a cloth of pure blue, and shall insert the carrying poles of the ark. 7 Over the table of the bread of the Presence they shall spread a cloth of blue and put on it the plates, the dishes for incense, the sacrificial bowls, the jars for the drink offering, and ^athe continual bread of the Presence shall be on it. 8 They shall spread over them a cloth of scarlet, and cover that with a covering of porpoise skin, and they shall insert its carrying poles. 9 Then they shall take a blue cloth and cover the ^alampstand for the light, along with ^bits lamps, its wick cutters, its trays, and all the oil vessels, by which it is supplied; 10 and they shall put the lampstand and all its utensils in a covering of porpoise skin, and shall put it on the carrying bars. 11 Over the golden incense altar they shall spread a blue cloth, and cover it with a covering of porpoise skin, and shall insert its carrying poles; 12 and they shall take all the utensils of the service with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a blue cloth, and cover them with a covering of porpoise skin, and put them on the carrying bars. 13 Then they shall clean away the ashes from the ^aaltar of burnt offering, and spread a purple cloth over it. 14 They shall also put on it all its utensils with which they minister in connection with it: the pans, the meat-forks, the shovels, the basins, and all the utensils of the altar; and they shall spread a covering of porpoise skin over it, and insert its carrying poles. 15 When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all its furniture, as the camp sets out, after all that is done, but not before, the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them using the poles, so that they do not touch the holy things, ^aand die. These are the things in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) which the sons of Kohath are to carry.

16 “The responsibility of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, is ^athe oil for the light, the ^1bfragrant incense, the ^ccontinual grain offering, and ^dthe anointing oil—the responsibility of all the tabernacle and everything that is in it, with the sanctuary and its furnishings.”

17 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 18 “Do not cut off (eliminate, destroy) the tribe of the families of the Kohathites who are only Levites and not priests, from among the Levites by exposing them to the sin of ¹touching the most holy things. 19 But deal with them in this way, so that they may live and ^anot die when they approach the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in and assign each of them to his specific work and to his load to be carried on the march. 20 But ^athe Kohathites shall not go in to see the holy things, even for an instant, or they will die.”

21 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 22 “Take a census of the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers’ households, by their families. 23 From ^athirty years and upward to fifty years old, you shall number them; all who enter for service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting. 24 This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, in serving and in carrying when on the march: 25 they shall carry ^athe tent curtains of the tabernacle, and the Tent of Meeting, its covering and ^bthe covering of porpoise skin (fine leather) that is on top of it, and the curtain for the doorway of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) , 26 and ^athe hangings of the courtyard, and the curtain for the entrance of the gate of the courtyard which is around the tabernacle and the altar, and their tent ropes, and all the equipment for their service; and all that is to be done, they shall ¹perform. 27 Aaron and his sons shall direct all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, all they have to carry and all they have to do. You shall assign to them as a duty all that they are to carry on the march. 28 This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) ; and their duties shall be ¹under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron, the high priest.

29 “As for the sons of Merari, you shall number them by their families (clans) , by their fathers’ households; 30 from ^athirty years and upward to fifty years old, you shall number them, everyone who enters the service to do the work of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) . 31 This is what they are assigned to carry on the march, according to all their service in the Tent of Meeting: the boards for the framework of the tabernacle and its bars and its pillars and its sockets or bases, 32 and the pillars around the courtyard with their sockets or bases and their pegs and their cords (tent ropes) , with all their equipment and with all their accessories for service; and you shall assign each man by name the items ¹he is to carry on the march. 33 This is the work of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their tasks in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) , ¹under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron, the priest.”

34 So Moses and Aaron and the leaders of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites by their families (clans) and by their fathers’ households, 35 from ^athirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who enters the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) ; 36 the men who were numbered by their families were 2,750. 37 These were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all who did service in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) , whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the LORD ¹through Moses.

38 The men who were numbered of the sons of Gershon, by their families (clans) , and by their fathers’ households, 39 from thirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) ; 40 the men who were numbered by their families, by their fathers’ households, were 2,630. 41 These were numbered men of the families of the sons of Gershon, everyone who served in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) , whom Moses and Aaron numbered just as the LORD had commanded.

42 The men who were numbered of the sons of Merari, by their families (clans) , by their fathers’ households, 43 from ^athirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered the service for work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) ; 44 the men who were numbered by their families were 3,200. 45 These are the men who were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered in accordance with the commandment of the LORD through Moses.

46 All the men who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the leaders of Israel counted by their families (clans) and by their fathers’ households, 47 from thirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who could enter to do the work of service and the work of carrying in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) ; 48 the men that were numbered were ^a8,580. 49 According to the commandment of the LORD through Moses, they ^awere numbered, each assigned to his work of serving and carrying. Thus they were numbered by him, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
