Y cuando bajó del monte, grandes multitudes le seguían. 2 ^aY he aquí, se le acercó un leproso y se postró ante Él^1b, diciendo: Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme. 3 Y extendiendo Jesús la mano, lo tocó, diciendo: Quiero; sé limpio. Y al instante quedó limpio de su lepra^1a. 4 Entonces Jesús le dijo*: Mira, no se lo digas a nadie^a, sino ve^b, muéstrate al sacerdote^c y presenta la ofrenda que ordenó Moisés, para que les sirva de testimonio a ellos.

5 ^aY cuando entró Jesús¹ en Capernaúm se le acercó un centurión suplicándole, 6 y diciendo: Señor, mi criado¹ está postrado en casa, paralítico^a, sufriendo mucho². 7 Y Jesús le dijo*: Yo iré y lo sanaré. 8 Pero el centurión respondió y dijo: Señor, no soy digno de que entres bajo mi techo; mas solamente di la palabra¹ y mi criado² quedará sano. 9 Porque yo también soy hombre bajo autoridad^a, con¹ soldados a mis órdenes²; y digo aeste: «Ve», y va; y al otro: «Ven», y viene; y a mi siervo: «Haz esto», y lo hace. 10 Al oírlo Jesús, se maravilló y dijo a los que le seguían: En verdad os digo que en Israel¹ no he hallado en nadie una fe tan grande. 11 Y os digo que vendrán muchos del oriente y del occidente^a, y se sentarán¹ a la mesa con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob en el reino de los cielos. 12 Pero los hijos del reino^a serán arrojados a las tinieblas de afuera^b; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes^c. 13 Entonces Jesús dijo al centurión: Vete; así como has creído^a, te sea hecho. Y el criado¹ fue sanado en esa misma hora.

14 ^aAl llegar Jesús a casa de Pedro, vio a la suegra deeste¹ que yacía en cama² con fiebre. 15 Le tocó la mano, y la fiebre la dejó; y ella se levantó y le servía. 16 Y al atardecer, le trajeron muchos endemoniados^a; y expulsó a los espíritus con su palabra, y sanó a todos los que estaban enfermos^b, 17 para que se cumpliera lo que fue dicho por medio del profeta Isaías cuando dijo: EL MISMO TOMO NUESTRAS FLAQUEZAS Y LLEVO¹ NUESTRAS ENFERMEDADES^a.

18 Viendo Jesús una multitud a su alrededor, dio orden^a de pasar al otro lado. 19 ^aY un escriba se le acercó y le dijo: Maestro, te seguiré adondequiera que vayas. 20 Y Jesús le dijo*: Las zorras tienen madrigueras y las aves del cielo nidos, pero el Hijo del Hombre^a no tiene dónde recostar la cabeza. 21 Otro de los discípulos le dijo: Señor, permíteme que vaya primero y entierre a mi padre. 22 Pero Jesús le dijo*: Sígueme, y deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos^a.

23 ^aCuando entró Jesús¹ en la barca, sus discípulos le siguieron. 24 Y de pronto¹ se desató una gran tormenta² en el mar, de modo que las olas cubrían la barca; pero Jesús³ estaba dormido. 25 Y llegándose a Él, le despertaron, diciendo: ¡Señor, sálvanos^a, que perecemos! 26 Y Él les dijo*: ¿Por qué estáis amedrentados, hombres de poca fe^a? Entonces se levantó, reprendió a los vientos y al mar, y sobrevino una gran calma. 27 Y los hombres se maravillaron, diciendo: ¿Quién eseste, que aun los vientos y el mar le obedecen?

28 ^aCuando llegó al otro lado, a la tierra de los gadarenos, le salieron al encuentro dos endemoniados^b que salían de los sepulcros, violentos en extremo, de manera que nadie podía pasar por aquel camino. 29 Y¹ gritaron, diciendo: ¿Qué tenemos que ver contigo², Hijo de Dios^a? ¿Has venido aquí para atormentarnos antes del tiempo³? 30 A cierta distancia de ellos había una piara de muchos cerdos paciendo; 31 y los demonios le rogaban, diciendo: Si vas a echarnos fuera, mándanos a la piara de cerdos. 32 Entonces Él les dijo: ¡Id! Y ellos salieron y entraron en los cerdos; y he aquí que la piara entera se precipitó por un despeñadero al mar, y perecieron en las aguas. 33 Los que cuidaban la piara huyeron; y fueron a la ciudad y lo contaron todo, incluso¹ lo de los endemoniados^a. 34 Y¹ toda la ciudad salió al encuentro de Jesús; y cuando le vieron, le rogaron que se fuera de su comarca^a.

When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds ¹followed Him. 2 And ^aa leper came up to Him and ^bbowed down before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You are able to make me clean (well) .” Mark 1:40-44; Luke 5:12-14 3 Jesus reached out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his ^aleprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said to him, “^aSee that you tell no one about this; but ^bgo, ^cshow yourself to the priest for inspection and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony (evidence) to them of your healing.” Lev 14:2

5 ^aAs Jesus went into Capernaum, a ¹centurion came up to Him, begging Him for help, Luke 7:1-10 6 and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home ^aparalyzed, with intense and terrible, tormenting pain.” 7 Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But the centurion replied to Him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man subject to ^aauthority of a higher rank, with soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those who were following Him, “I tell you truthfully, I have not found such great faith as this with anyone in Israel. 11 I say to you that many Gentiles ^awill come from east and west, and will sit down to feast at the table, and enjoy God’s promises with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven because they accepted Me as Savior, 12 while ^athe sons and heirs of the kingdom the descendants of Abraham who will not recognize Me as Messiah will be thrown out into the ^bouter darkness; in that place which is farthest removed from the kingdom ^cthere will be weeping in sorrow and pain and grinding of teeth in distress and anger.” Ps 107:2, 3; Is 49:12; 59:19; Mal 1:11 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; it will be done for you ^aas you have believed.” And the servant was restored to health at that very hour.

14 ^aWhen Jesus went into Peter’s house in Capernaum, He saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever. Mark 1:29-34; Luke 4:38-41 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her; and she got up and served Him. 16 When evening came, they brought to Him many ^awho were under the power of demons; and He cast out the evil spirits with a word, and ^brestored to health all who were sick exhibiting His authority as Messiah, 17 so that He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “^aHE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES upon Himself AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” Is 53:4

18 Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, ^aHe gave orders to cast off for the other side of the Sea of Galilee. 19 ^aThen on His way to board the boat a scribe who was a respected and authoritative interpreter of the Law came and said to Him, “Master, I will accompany You as Your student wherever You go.” Luke 9:57-60 20 Jesus replied to him, “Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but ^athe ¹Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Dan 7:13; Mark 8:31, 38; Luke 12:8; John 1:51; Acts 7:56 21 Another of the ¹disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and ²bury my father (collect my inheritance) .” Luke 9:59, 60 22 But Jesus said to him, “^aFollow Me believing in Me as Master and Teacher, and allow the spiritually dead to bury their own dead.”

23 ^aWhen He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Mark 4:36-41; Luke 8:22-25 24 And suddenly a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but Jesus was sleeping. 25 And the disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, ^asave us, we are going to die!” 26 He said to them, “Why are you afraid, ^ayou men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was at once a great and wonderful calm a perfect peacefulness. 27 The men wondered in amazement, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

28 ^aWhen He arrived at the other side in the country of the Gadarenes, two ^bdemon-possessed men coming out of the tombs met Him. They were so extremely fierce and violent that no one could pass by that way. Mark 5:1-17; Luke 8:26-37 29 And they screamed out, “^1aWhat business do we have in common with each other, Son of God? Have You come to torment us before the appointed time of judgment?” Judg 11:12; 2+@Sam 16:10; Matt 25:41; Mark 5:7; Luke 4:34; Rev 20:10 30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was grazing. 31 The demons began begging Him, “If You drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” 32 And He said to them, “Go!” So they came out of the men and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the water. 33 The herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, including what had happened to the ^amen under the power of demons. 34 And the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and as soon as they saw Him, they ^abegged Him to leave their region.
