Entonces el SEÑOR habló a Moisés en el monte Sinaí, diciendo: 2 Habla a los hijos de Israel, y diles: «Cuando entréis a la tierra que yo os daré, la tierra guardará reposo para el SEÑOR. 3 Seis años sembrarás la tierra^a, seis años podarás tu viña y recogerás sus frutos, 4 pero el séptimo año la tierra tendrá completo descanso^a, un reposo para el SEÑOR; no sembrarás tu campo ni podarás tu viña. 5 Lo que nazca espontáneamente después de tu cosecha no lo segarás, y las uvas de los sarmientos de tu viñedo no recogerás; la tierra tendrá un año de reposo. 6 Y el fruto del reposo de la tierra os servirá de alimento^a: a ti, a tus siervos, a tus siervas, a tu jornalero y al extranjero, a los que residen contigo. 7 También a tu ganado y a los animales que están en tu tierra, todas sus cosechas les servirán de alimento.

8 »Contarás también siete semanas de años para ti, siete veces siete años, para que tengas el tiempo de siete semanas de años, es decir, cuarenta y nueve años. 9 Entonces tocarás fuertemente el cuerno de carnero el décimo día del séptimo mes; en el día de la expiación^a tocaréis el cuerno por toda la tierra. 10 Así consagraréis el quincuagésimo año y proclamaréis libertad^a en¹ la tierra para todos sus habitantes. Será de jubileo para vosotros, y² cada uno de vosotros volverá a su posesión^b, y³ cada uno de vosotros volverá a su familia. 11 Tendréis el quincuagésimo año como año de jubileo: no sembraréis, ni segaréis lo que nazca espontáneamente, ni vendimiaréis sus viñas sin podar. 12 Porque es jubileo, os será santo. De lo que produzca el¹ campo, comeréis.

13 »En este año de jubileo cada uno de vosotros volverá a su propia posesión^a. 14 Asimismo, si vendéis algo a vuestro¹ prójimo, o compráis algo de la mano de vuestro² prójimo, no os hagáis mal uno a otro^a. 15 Conforme al número de años después del jubileo, comprarás de tu prójimo, y él te venderá conforme al número de años de cosecha. 16 Si son muchos los años¹, aumentarás su precio^a, y si son pocos los años, disminuirás su precio; porque es un número de cosechas lo que te está vendiendo. 17 Así que no os hagáis mal uno a otro^a, sino temed¹ a vuestro Dios; porque yo soy el SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

18 »Cumpliréis, pues, mis estatutos y guardaréis mis leyes¹, para ejecutarlos, para que habitéis seguros en la tierra^a. 19 Entonces la tierra dará su fruto, comeréis hasta que os saciéis¹ y habitaréis en ella con seguridad. 20 Pero si decís: “¿Qué vamos a comer el séptimo año si¹ no sembramos ni recogemos nuestras cosechas^a?”, 21 yo entonces os enviaré¹ mi bendición^a en el sexto año, de modo que producirá fruto para tres años. 22 Cuando estéis sembrando en el octavo año, todavía podréis comer cosas de la cosecha anterior^a, comiendo de ellas hasta el noveno año cuando venga la¹ nueva cosecha.

23 »Además, la tierra no se venderá en forma permanente, pues la tierra es mía^a; porque vosotros soissolo forasteros y peregrinos para conmigo^b. 24 Así que a toda tierra en posesión vuestra, otorgaréis el derecho de ser redimida. 25 Si uno de tus hermanos llega a ser tan pobre que tiene que vender parte de su posesión, su pariente más cercano¹ vendrá y redimirá^a lo que su hermano haya vendido. 26 Y en caso de que un hombre no tenga redentor¹, pero consiga² los medios suficientes para su redención, 27 entonces computará los años^a desde la¹ venta y devolverá el resto al hombre a quien había vendido la tierra², y así volverá a su posesión. 28 Pero si no ha hallado medios suficientes¹ para recobrarla por sí mismo, entonces lo que ha vendido permanecerá en manos del² comprador hasta el año de jubileo; pero en el jubileo saldrá de su poder, y el vendedor³ volverá a su posesión^a.

29 »Si un hombre vende una casa de vivienda en una ciudad amurallada, su derecho a redimirla es válido hasta que se cumpla un año de su venta; su derecho de redención dura todo un año. 30 Pero si no se la redimen en el espacio de un año, la casa que está en la ciudad amurallada pasará para siempre a su comprador por todas sus generaciones; no saldrá de su poder en el jubileo. 31 Mas las casas de las aldeas que no tienen muro alrededor, serán consideradas como¹ campo abierto; tienen derechos de redención, y son recuperadas² en el jubileo. 32 En cuanto a las ciudades de los levitas^a, ellos¹ tienen un derecho permanente de redención para las casas de las ciudades que son propiedad suya. 33 Así que lo que pertenece a¹ los levitas se puede redimir, y una casa de su propiedad vendida en² la ciudad es recuperada³ en el jubileo, porque las casas de las ciudades de los levitas son propiedad suya entre los hijos de Israel. 34 Pero las tierras de pasto de sus ciudades^a no se venderán porque son propiedad suya para siempre.

35 »En caso de que un hermano tuyo empobrezca y sus medios para contigo decaigan¹, tú lo sustentarás como a un forastero o peregrino, para que viva contigo^a. 36 No tomes interés y usura de él^a, mas teme a tu Dios, para que tu hermano viva contigo. 37 No le darás tu dinero a interés, ni tus víveres a ganancia. 38 Yo soy el SEÑOR vuestro Dios, que os saqué de la tierra de Egipto^a para daros la tierra de Canaán y para ser vuestro Dios^b.

39 »^aY si un hermano tuyo llega a ser tan pobre para contigo que se vende a ti, no lo someterás a trabajo de esclavo. 40 Estará contigo como jornalero, como si fuera un peregrino; él servirá contigo hasta el año de jubileo^a. 41 Entonces saldrá libre de ti, él y sus hijos con él, y volverá a su familia, para que pueda regresar a la propiedad de sus padres. 42 Porque ellos son mis siervos, los cuales saqué de la tierra de Egipto; no serán vendidos en venta de esclavos. 43 No te enseñorearás de él con severidad^a, más bien, teme a tu Dios. 44 En cuanto a los esclavos y esclavas que puedes tener de las naciones paganas que os rodean, de ellos podréis adquirir esclavos y esclavas. 45 También podréis adquirirlos de los hijos de los extranjeros que residen con vosotros, y de sus familias que están con vosotros, que hayan sido engendradas en vuestra tierra;estos también pueden ser posesión vuestra. 46 Aun podréis dejarlos en herencia a vuestros hijos después de vosotros, como posesión; os podréis servir de ellos como esclavos para siempre. Pero en cuanto a vuestros hermanos, los hijos de Israel, no os enseñorearéis unos de otros con severidad^a.

47 »Si aumentan los bienes¹ del forastero o del peregrino que mora contigo, y si empobrece tu hermano que está con él, y se vende al forastero que mora contigo, o se vende a los descendientes de la familia de un forastero, 48 él tendrá derecho de redención después de ser vendido; uno de sus hermanos podrá redimirlo; 49 o su tío o el hijo de su tío podrán redimirlo; o un pariente cercano de su familia podrá redimirlo; o si prospera¹, él mismo podrá redimirse^a. 50 Entonces él, con su comprador, calculará desde el año en que se vendió a él hasta el año de jubileo, y el precio de su venta corresponderá al número de años. Los días que estará con él serán como los días de un jornalero. 51 Si aún le quedan muchos años, devolverá parte de su precio de compra en proporción a ellos^a para su propia redención; 52 y si quedan pocos años hasta el año de jubileo, así los calculará con él. En proporción a los años devolverá la cantidad de su redención. 53 Lo tratará¹ como quien trabaja a jornal año por año; no se enseñoreará de él con severidad^a delante de sus ojos. 54 Aunque no sea redimido por estos medios¹, todavía saldrá libre en el año de jubileo^a, él y sus hijos con él. 55 Pues los hijos de Israel son mis siervos; siervos míos son, a quienes saqué de la tierra de Egipto. Yo soy el SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

The LORD spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘When you come into the land which I am giving you, then the land shall keep a Sabbath to the LORD. 3 For ^asix years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its crop. 4 But in ^athe seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of rest for the land, a Sabbath to the LORD; you shall not sow seed in your field nor prune your vineyard. 5 Whatever reseeds itself (uncultivated) in your harvest you shall not reap, nor shall you gather the grapes from your uncultivated vine, it shall be a year of sabbatical rest for the land. 6 ^aAnd all of you shall have for food whatever the untilled land produces during its Sabbath year; yourself, and your male and female slaves, your hired servant, and the foreigners who reside among you, 7 even your domestic animals and the wild animals that are in your land shall have all its crops to eat.

8 ‘You are also to count off seven Sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years, so that you have the time of the seven Sabbaths of years, namely, forty-nine years. 9 Then you shall sound the ram’s horn everywhere on ^athe tenth day of the seventh month (almost October) ; on the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout your land. 10 And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year and ^1aproclaim freedom for the slaves throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee (year of remission) for you, and ^beach of you shall return to his own ancestral property that was sold to another because of poverty, and each of you shall return to his family from whom he was separated by bondage. 11 That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee for you; you shall not sow seed, nor reap what reseeds itself, nor gather the grapes of the uncultivated vines. 12 For it is the Jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat its crops out of the field.

13 ‘^aIn this Year of Jubilee each of you shall return to his own ancestral property. 14 If you sell anything to your friend or buy from your friend, ^ayou shall not wrong one another. 15 According to the number of years after the Jubilee, you shall ¹buy from your friend. And he is to sell to you according to the number of years of crops which may be harvested before you must restore the property to him. 16 ^aIf the years until the next Jubilee are many, you shall increase the price, but if the years remaining are few, you shall reduce the price, because it is the number of crops that he is selling to you. 17 ^aYou shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God with profound reverence; for I am the LORD your God.

18 ‘Therefore you shall carry out My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them, so that ^ayou may live securely on the land. 19 Then the land will yield its produce, so that you can eat your fill and live securely on it. 20 And if you say, “^aWhat are we going to eat in the seventh year if we do not sow seed or gather in our crops?” 21 then this is My answer: ^aI will order My special blessing for you in the sixth year, so that it will produce sufficient crops for three years. 22 When you are sowing the eighth year, you can still eat ^aold things from the crops, eating the old until the ninth year when its crop comes in.

23 ‘The land shall not be sold permanently, for ^athe land is Mine; ^byou are only foreigners and temporary residents with Me. Heb 11:13; 1+@Pet 2:11-17 24 So in all the country that you possess, you are to provide for the redemption of the land in the Year of Jubilee.

25 ‘^aIf a fellow countryman of yours becomes so poor he has to sell some of his property, then his nearest relative is to come and buy back (redeem) what his relative has sold. 26 Or in case a man has no relative to redeem his property, but he has become more prosperous and has enough to buy it back, 27 ^athen he shall calculate the years since its sale and refund the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and so return to his ancestral property. 1+@Kin 21:2, 3 28 But if ¹he is unable to redeem it, then what he has sold shall remain in the hands of the purchaser until the Year of Jubilee; but at the Jubilee it shall revert, and ^ahe may return to his property.

29 ‘If a man sells a house in a walled city, then his right of redemption remains valid for a full year after its sale; his right of redemption lasts a full year. 30 But if it is not redeemed for him within a full year, then the house that is in the walled city passes permanently and irrevocably to the purchaser throughout his generations. It does not revert back in the Year of Jubilee. 31 The houses of the villages that have no surrounding walls, however, shall be considered as open fields. They may be redeemed, and revert in the Year of Jubilee. 32 As for the ^acities of the Levites, the Levites have a permanent right of redemption for the houses in the cities which they possess. 33 Therefore, what is purchased from the Levites may be redeemed by a Levite, and the house that was sold in the city they possess reverts in the Year of Jubilee, for the houses in the Levite cities are their ancestral property among the Israelites. 34 ^aBut the pasture lands of their cities may not be sold, for that is their permanent possession.

35 ‘^aNow if your fellow countryman becomes poor and his hand falters with you that is, he has trouble repaying you for something, then you are to help and sustain him, with courtesy and consideration like you would a stranger or a temporary resident without property, so that he may live among you. 1+@John 3:17 36 ^aDo not charge him usurious interest, but fear your God with profound reverence, so your countryman may continue to live among you. 37 You shall not give him your money at interest, nor your food at a profit. 38 ^aI am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and ^bto be your God.

39 ‘And ^aif your fellow countryman becomes so poor in his dealings with you that he sells himself to you as payment for a debt, you shall not let him do the work of a slave who is ineligible for redemption, 40 but he is to be with you as a hired man, as if he were a ^atemporary resident; he shall serve with you until the Year of Jubilee, 41 and then he shall leave you, he and his children with him, and shall go back to his own family and return to the property of his fathers. 42 For the Israelites are My servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold in a slave sale. 1+@Cor 7:23 43 ^aYou shall not rule over him with harshness (severity, oppression) , but you are to fear your God with profound reverence. Eph 6:9; Col 4:1 44 As for your male and female slaves whom you may have—you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you. 45 Moreover, from the children of the strangers who live as aliens among you, from them you may buy slaves and from their families who are with you, whom they have produced in your land; they may become your possession. 46 You may even bequeath them as an inheritance to your children after you, to receive as a possession; you can use them as permanent slaves. ^aBut in respect to your fellow countrymen, the children of Israel, you shall not rule over one another with harshness (severity, oppression) .

47 ‘Now if the financial means of a stranger or temporary resident among you become sufficient, and your fellow countryman becomes poor in comparison to him and sells himself to the stranger who is living among you or to the descendants of the stranger’s family, 48 then after he is sold he shall have the right of redemption. One of his relatives may redeem him: 49 either his uncle or his uncle’s son may redeem him, or one of his blood relatives from his family may redeem him; or ^aif he prospers, he may redeem himself. 50 Then he or his redeemer shall calculate with his purchaser from the year when he sold himself to the purchaser to the Year of Jubilee, and the original price of his sale shall be adjusted according to the number of years. The time he was with his owner shall be considered as that of a hired man. 51 If there are still many years before the Year of Jubilee, in proportion to them ^ahe must refund to the purchaser part of the price of his sale for his redemption and release. 52 And if only a few years remain until the Year of Jubilee, he shall so calculate it with him. He is to refund the proportionate amount for his release. 53 Like a man hired year by year he shall deal with him; ^ahe shall not rule over him with harshness in your sight. 54 Even if he is not redeemed during these years and under these provisions, then ^ahe shall go free in the Year of Jubilee, he and his children with him. 55 For the children of Israel are My servants; My servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
