Y aconteció muchos días después de haber dado el SEÑOR reposo a Israel de todos sus enemigos de alrededor^a, siendo Josué ya viejo y avanzado en años, 2 que Josué llamó a todo Israel, a sus ancianos, a sus jefes, a sus jueces y a sus oficiales^a, y les dijo: Yo ya soy viejo y avanzado en años. 3 Y vosotros habéis visto todo lo que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios ha hecho a todas estas naciones por causa de vosotros, porque el SEÑOR vuestro Dios es quien ha peleado por vosotros^a. 4 Mirad, os he asignado por suerte, como heredad para vuestras tribus, estas naciones que aún quedan junto con todas las naciones que he destruido^a, desde el Jordán hasta el mar Grande, hacia la puesta del sol. 5 Y el SEÑOR vuestro Dios las echará de delante de vosotros y las expulsará¹ de vuestra presencia; y vosotros poseeréis su tierra, tal como el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os ha prometido^2a. 6 Esforzaos, pues, en guardar y en hacer todo lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, para que no os apartéis de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda^a, 7 a fin de que no os juntéis con¹ estas naciones, las que quedan entre vosotros. No mencionéis el nombre de sus dioses^a, ni hagáis a nadie jurar por ellos, ni los sirváis^b, ni os inclinéis ante ellos^c, 8 sino que al SEÑOR vuestro Dios os allegaréis¹, como lo habéis hecho hasta hoy. 9 Porque el SEÑOR ha expulsado¹ a naciones grandes y poderosas de delante de vosotros^a; y en cuanto a vosotros, nadie os ha podido hacer frente hasta hoy^b. 10 Un solo hombre de vosotros hace huir a mil^a, porque el SEÑOR vuestro Dios es quien pelea por vosotros^b, tal como Él os ha prometido¹. 11 Tened sumo cuidado, por vuestra vida, de amar al SEÑOR vuestro Dios. 12 Porque si os volvéis, y os unís al resto de estos pueblos que¹ permanecen entre vosotros, y contraéis matrimonio con ellos, y os juntáis con² ellos, y ellos con vosotros^a, 13 ciertamente sabed que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios no continuará expulsando¹ a estas naciones de delante de vosotros, sino que serán como lazo^a y trampa para vosotros, como azote en vuestros costados y como espinas en vuestros ojos, hasta que perezcáis de sobre esta buena tierra que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os ha dado.

14 He aquí, hoy me voy por el camino de toda la tierra^a, y vosotros sabéis con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma que ninguna de las buenas palabras que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios habló acerca de vosotros ha faltado; todas os han sido cumplidas¹, ninguna de ellas² ha faltado^b. 15 Y sucederá que así como han venido sobre vosotros todas las buenas palabras que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os habló, de la misma manera el SEÑOR traerá sobre vosotros toda amenaza, hasta que os haya destruido de sobre esta buena tierra que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os ha dado^a. 16 Cuando quebrantéis el pacto que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os ordenó, y vayáis y sirváis a otros dioses, y os inclinéis ante ellos, entonces la ira del SEÑOR se encenderá contra vosotros, y pereceréis prontamente^a de sobre esta buena tierra que Él os ha dado.

A long time after that, when the LORD had given Israel ^arest from all their enemies ¹on every side, and Joshua had grown old and ²advanced in years, 2 ^athat Joshua called all Israel, their elders and their heads and their judges and their officers, and said to them, “I am old and advanced in years. 3 And you have seen all that the LORD your God has done to all these nations for your sake; for ^athe LORD your God is He who has been fighting for you. Ex 14:14 4 See, ^aI have allotted to you these nations that remain as an inheritance for your tribes, with all the nations which I have cut off, from the Jordan on the east to the Great Mediterranean Sea toward the setting sun. 5 The LORD your God will push them away from before you and ^adrive them out of your sight and ^byou will take possession of their land, just as the LORD your God ¹promised you. 6 ^aBe steadfast and very determined to keep and to do everything that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, so that you do not turn aside from it to the right or the left, 7 so that you do not associate with these nations which remain among you, or ^amention the name of their gods, or ^bmake anyone swear an oath by them, or ^cserve them, or bow down to them. 8 But you are to cling to the LORD your God, just as you have done to this day. 9 ^aFor the LORD has driven out great and mighty nations from before you; and as for you, ^bno man has been able to stand in opposition before you to this day. 10 ^aOne of your men puts to flight a thousand, for the LORD your God is ^bHe who is fighting for you, just as He ¹promised you. 11 So be very careful and watchful of yourselves to ¹love the LORD your God. 12 For if you ever turn back and ^acling to the rest of these nations, these that are left among you, and ^bintermarry with them, so that you associate with them and they with you, 13 know and understand with certainty that the LORD your God will not continue to drive these nations out from before you; but they will be a ^asnare and trap to you, and a whip on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which the LORD your God has given you.

14 “Now behold, today ^aI am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that ^bnot one word of all the good words which the LORD your God has promised concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed. 15 It shall come about that just as every good word which the LORD your God spoke and promised to you has ¹been fulfilled for you, so ^athe LORD will bring upon you every bad thing about which He warned you, until He has destroyed and eliminated you from this good land which the LORD your God has given you. 16 ^aWhen you transgress (violate) the covenant of the LORD your God, which He commanded you to follow, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them, then the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from the good land which He has given you.”
