Oración de Jonás

1Entonces oró Jonás al SEÑOR su Dios desde el vientre del peza, 2 y dijo:En1 mi angustia clamé al SEÑORa,y Él me respondió.Desde el seno2 del Seol3 pedí auxilio,y tú escuchaste mi vozb;

3 pues me habías echado a lo profundo,en el corazón de los mares,y la corriente me envolvió1a;todas tus encrespadas olas y tus ondas pasaron sobre míb.4 Entonces dije: «He sido expulsado de delante de tus ojosa;sin embargo volveré a mirar hacia tu santo templob».5 Me rodearon las aguas hasta el alma,el gran abismo me envolvió1a,las algas se enredaron a mi cabeza.6 Descendí hasta las raíces de los montesa,la tierra con sus cerrojos me ponía cerco para siempreb;pero tú sacaste de la fosa1 mi vidac, oh SEÑOR, Dios mío.7 Cuando en mí desfallecía mi almaa,del SEÑOR me acordéb;y mi oración llegó hasta tic,hasta tu santo templod.8 Los que confían en vanos ídolos1asu propia misericordia abandonan,9 mas yo con voz de acción de graciaste ofreceré sacrificiosa.Lo que prometí, pagaréb.La salvación es del SEÑORc.

10 Entonces el SEÑOR dio orden al peza, yeste vomitó a Jonás en tierra firme.

Jonah’s Prayer

Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God afrom the stomach of the fish, 2 and said,“I acalled out of my trouble and distress to the LORD,And He answered me;Out of the belly of bSheol I cried for help,And You heard my voice. Ps 120:1; 130:1; 142:1; Lam 3:55-58

3 “For You acast me into the deep,Into the deep heart of the seas,And the currents surrounded and engulfed me;All Your bbreakers and billowing waves passed over me. Ps 42:74 “Then I said, ‘I have been acast out of Your sight.Nevertheless I will look again btoward Your holy temple.’ Ps 31:225 “The awaters surrounded me, to the point of death.The bgreat deep engulfed me,Seaweed was wrapped around my head. Ps 69:1; Lam 3:546 “I adescended to the very roots of the mountains.The earth with its bbars closed behind me bolting me in forever,Yet You have cbrought up my life from the pit (death) , O LORD my God.7 “When my soul was afainting within me,I bremembered the LORD,And my cprayer came to You,Into dYour holy temple.8 “Those who aregard and follow worthless idols1Turn away from their living source of mercy and lovingkindness.9 “But as for me, I will asacrifice to YouWith the voice of thanksgiving;I shall bpay that which I have vowed.cSalvation is from the LORD!”

10 So the LORD commanded the afish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.
