En el principio^a existía¹ el Verbo^2b, y el Verbo estaba³ con Dios^c, y el Verbo era Dios^d. 2 Él¹ estaba² en el principio con Dios. 3 Todas las cosas fueron hechas por medio de Él^a, y sin Él nada de lo que ha sido hecho, fue hecho. 4 En Él estaba¹ la vida^a, y la vida era la luz de los hombres^b. 5 Y la luz brilla en las tinieblas^a, y las tinieblas no la comprendieron¹.

6 Vino al mundo un¹ hombre enviado por Dios, cuyo nombre era Juan^a. 7 Este vino como testigo^a, para testificar de la luz, a fin de que todos creyeran por medio de él^b. 8 No era él¹ la luz^a, sino que vino para dar testimonio de la luz.

9 Existía¹ la luz verdadera^a que, al venir al mundo, alumbra a todo hombre². 10 En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fue hecho por medio de Él^a, y el mundo no le conoció. 11 A lo suyo vino, y los suyos no le recibieron. 12 Pero a todos los que le recibieron, les dio el derecho¹ de llegar a ser hijos de Dios^a, es decir, a los que creen en su nombre^b, 13 que no nacieron¹ de sangre², ni de la voluntad de la carne, ni de la voluntad del hombre, sino de Dios^a.

14 Y el Verbo^a se hizo carne^b, y habitó entre nosotros^c, y vimos su gloria^d, gloria como del unigénito¹ del Padre, lleno de gracia^e y de verdad^f. 15 Juan dio* testimonio de Él^a y clamó, diciendo: Este era del que yo decía: «El que viene después de mí^b, es antes de mí¹, porque era primero que yo^c». 16 Pues de su plenitud^a todos hemos recibido, y gracia sobre gracia. 17 Porque la ley fue dada por medio de Moisés^a; la gracia^b y la verdad^c fueron hechas realidad por medio de Jesucristo. 18 Nadie ha visto jamás a Dios^a; el unigénito Dios^1b, que está en el seno del Padre^c, Él le ha dado a conocer^d.

19 Este es el testimonio^a de Juan, cuando los judíos^b enviaron sacerdotes y levitas de Jerusalén^c a preguntarle: ¿Quién eres tú? 20 Y él confesó y no negó; confesó: Yo no soy el Cristo^1a. 21 Y le preguntaron: ¿Entonces, qué? ¿Eres Elías^a? Y él dijo*: No soy. ¿Eres el profeta^b? Y respondió: No. 22 Entonces le dijeron: ¿Quién eres?, para que podamos dar respuesta a los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo? 23 Él dijo: Yo soy LA VOZ DEL QUE CLAMA EN EL DESIERTO: «ENDEREZAD EL CAMINO DEL SEÑOR^a», como dijo el profeta Isaías^b. 24 Los que habían sido enviados eran de los fariseos. 25 Y le preguntaron, y le dijeron: Entonces, ¿por qué bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo¹, ni Elías, ni el profeta^a? 26 Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo en¹ agua^a, pero entre vosotros está Uno a quien no conocéis. 27 Él es el que viene después de mí^a, a quien yo no soy digno de desatar la correa de su sandalia^b. 28 Estas cosas sucedieron en Betania¹, al otro lado del Jordán, donde Juan estaba bautizando^a.

29 Al día siguiente vio* a Jesús que venía hacia él, y dijo*: He ahí el Cordero de Dios^a que quita el pecado del mundo^b. 30 Este es aquel de quien yo dije: «Después de mí viene un hombre^a que es antes de mí¹ porque era primero que yo^b». 31 Y yo no le conocía¹, pero para que Él fuera manifestado a Israel, por esto yo vine bautizando en² agua. 32 Juan dio también testimonio^a, diciendo: He visto al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma^b, y se posó sobre Él. 33 Y yo no le conocía¹, pero el que me envió a bautizar en² agua me dijo: «Aquel sobre quien veas al Espíritu descender y posarse sobre Él,este es el que bautiza en³ el Espíritu Santo^a». 34 Y yo le he visto y he dado testimonio de queeste es el Hijo de Dios^a.

35 Al día siguiente^a Juan estaba otra vez allí con¹ dos de sus discípulos, 36 y vio a Jesús que pasaba, y dijo*: He ahí el Cordero de Dios^a. 37 Y los dos discípulos le oyeron hablar, y siguieron a Jesús. 38 Jesús se volvió, y viendo que le seguían, les dijo*: ¿Qué buscáis? Y ellos le dijeron: Rabí^a (que traducido quiere decir, Maestro), ¿dónde te hospedas? 39 Él les dijo*: Venid y veréis. Entonces fueron y vieron dónde se hospedaba; y se quedaron con Él aquel día, porque era como la hora décima¹. 40 ^aUno de los dos que oyeron a Juan y siguieron a Jesús era Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro. 41 El encontró* primero a su hermano Simón, y le dijo*: Hemos hallado al Mesías^a (que traducido quiere decir, Cristo¹). 42 Entonces lo trajo a Jesús. Jesús mirándolo, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Juan^1a; tú serás llamado Cefas^b (que quiere decir: Pedro^2c).

43 Al día siguiente^a Jesús se propuso salir para Galilea^b, y encontró* a Felipe^c, y le dijo*: Sígueme^d. 44 Felipe^a era de Betsaida^b, de la ciudad de Andrés y de Pedro. 45 Felipe^a encontró* a Natanael^b y le dijo*: Hemos hallado a aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y también los profetas^c, a Jesús de Nazaret^d, el hijo de José^e. 46 Y Natanael le dijo: ¿Puede algo bueno salir de Nazaret^a? Felipe^b le dijo*: Ven, y ve. 47 Jesús vio venir a Natanael y dijo* de él: He aquí un verdadero israelita^a en quien no hay engaño. 48 Natanael le dijo*: ¿Cómo es que me conoces? Jesús le respondió y le dijo: Antes de que Felipe^a te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera, te vi. 49 Natanael le respondió: Rabí^a, tú eres el Hijo de Dios^b, tú eres el Rey de Israel^c. 50 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: ¿Porque te dije que te vi debajo de la higuera, crees? Cosas mayores queestas verás. 51 Y le dijo*: En verdad, en verdad os digo que veréis el cielo abierto^a y a los ángeles de Dios subiendo y bajando^b sobre el Hijo del Hombre^c.

Gen 1:3

6 There came a man commissioned and sent from God, whose name was ^1aJohn. Mal 3:1 7 This man came ^aas a witness, to testify about the Light, ^bso that all might believe in Christ, the Light through him. 8 ^aJohn was not the Light, but came to testify about the Light.

9 There it was—^athe true Light the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light which, coming into the world, enlightens everyone. Is 49:6 10 He (Christ) was in the world, and though ^athe world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11 He came to that which was His own that which belonged to Him—His world, His creation, His possession, and those who were His own people—the Jewish nation did not receive and welcome Him. 12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right the authority, the privilege to become ^achildren of God, that is, ^bto those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— Is 56:5 13 ^awho were born, not of blood natural conception, nor of the will of the flesh physical impulse, nor of the will of man that of a natural father, but of God that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified.

14 And ^athe Word (Christ) ^bbecame flesh, and ^clived among us; and ^dwe actually saw His glory, glory as belongs to the One and only begotten Son of the Father, the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is full of ^egrace and ^ftruth (absolutely free of deception) . Is 40:5 15 John ^atestified repeatedly about Him and ¹has cried out testifying officially for the record, with validity and relevance, “This was He of whom I said, ‘^bHe who comes after me ²has a higher rank than I and has priority over me, ^cfor He existed before me.’” 16 For out of His ^afullness the superabundance of His grace and truth we have all received grace upon grace spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift. 17 For ^athe Law was given through Moses, but ^bgrace the unearned, undeserved favor of God and ^ctruth came through Jesus Christ. Ex 20:1 18 ^aNo one has seen God His essence, His divine nature at any time; ^bthe One and only begotten God that is, the unique Son who is ^cin the intimate presence of the Father, ^dHe has explained Him and interpreted and revealed the awesome wonder of the Father. Prov 8:30

19 This is ^athe testimony of John the Baptist when ^bthe Jews sent priests and Levites to him ^cfrom Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” 20 And he confessed truthfully and did not deny that he was only a man, but acknowledged, “^aI am not the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) !” 21 They asked him, “What then? Are you ^aElijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you ^bthe promised Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” Deut 18:15, 18; Mal 4:5 22 Then they said to him, “Who are you? Tell us, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” 23 He said, “I am ^aTHE VOICE OF ONE SHOUTING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” Is 40:3

24 Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. 25 They asked him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor ^athe Prophet?” 26 John answered them, “^aI baptize only ¹in water, but among you there stands One whom you do not recognize and of whom you know nothing. Mal 3:1 27 It is ^aHe the preeminent One who comes after me, the ^1bstrap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie even as His slave.” 28 These things occurred in Bethany ^aacross the Jordan at the Jordan River crossing, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Look! The ^aLamb of God ¹who ^btakes away the sin of the world! Ex 12:3; Is 53:7 30 This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘^aAfter me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I and has priority over me, ^bfor He existed before me.’ 31 ¹I did not recognize Him as the Messiah; but I came baptizing ²in water so that He would be publicly revealed to Israel.” 32 John ^agave further evidence testifying officially for the record, with validity and relevance, saying, “^bI have seen the ¹Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. Matt 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:22, 23 33 I did not recognize Him as the Messiah, but He who sent me to baptize ¹in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, ^athis One is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I myself have actually seen that happen, and my testimony is that this is ^athe Son of God!”

35 Again ^athe next day John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked along, and said, “Look! ^aThe Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they ¹followed Jesus. 38 And Jesus turned and saw them following Him, and asked them, “What do you want?” They answered Him, “^aRabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?” 39 He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they went with Him and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the ¹tenth hour. 40 ^aOne of the two who heard what John said and as a result followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first looked for and found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the ^1aMessiah” (which translated means the Christ). 42 Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of ^aJohn. You shall be called ^bCephas (which is translated ^1cPeter).”

43 ^aThe next day Jesus decided to go into ^bGalilee, and He found ^cPhilip and said to him, “^dFollow Me as My disciple, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher, and walking the same path of life that I walk.” 44 Now ^aPhilip was from ^bBethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 ^aPhilip found ^bNathanael and told him, “We have found the One ^cMoses in the Law and also ^dthe Prophets wrote about—Jesus from ^eNazareth, ^fthe son of Joseph according to public record.” 46 Nathanael answered him, “^aCan anything good come out of Nazareth?” ^bPhilip replied, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Here is an ^aIsraelite indeed a true descendant of Jacob, in whom there is no guile nor deceit nor duplicity!” 48 Nathanael said to Jesus, “How do You know these things about me?” Jesus answered, “Before ^aPhilip called you, when you were still under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered, “^aRabbi (Teacher) , You are ^bthe Son of God; You are the ^cKing of Israel.” 50 Jesus replied, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe in Me? You will see greater things than this.” 51 Then He said to him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, you will see ^aheaven opened and ^bthe angels of God ascending and descending on ^cthe Son of Man the bridge between heaven and earth.” Gen 28:12; Dan 7:13
