Y la serpiente era más astuta^a que cualquiera de los animales del campo que el SEÑOR Dios había hecho. Y dijo a la mujer: ¿Conque Dios os ha dicho: «No comeréis de ningún árbol del huerto»? 2 Y la mujer respondió a la serpiente: Del fruto de los árboles del huerto podemos comer; 3 pero del fruto del árbol que está en medio del huerto, ha dicho Dios: «No comeréis de él, ni lo tocaréis, para que no muráis^a». 4 Y la serpiente dijo a la mujer: Ciertamente no moriréis^a. 5 Pues Dios sabe que el día que de él comáis, serán abiertos vuestros ojos y seréis como Dios, conociendo el bien y el mal^a. 6 Cuando la mujer vio que el árbol era bueno para comer, y que era agradable¹ a los ojos, y que el árbol era deseable para alcanzar sabiduría², tomó de su fruto y comió; y dio también a su marido que estaba con ella, y él comió^a. 7 Entonces fueron abiertos los ojos de ambos, y conocieron que estaban desnudos^a; y cosieron hojas de higuera y se hicieron delantales¹.

8 Y oyeron al¹ SEÑOR Dios que se paseaba^a en el huerto al fresco² del día; y el hombre y su mujer se escondieron^b de la presencia del SEÑOR Dios entre los árboles del huerto. 9 Y el SEÑOR Dios llamó al hombre, y le dijo: ¿Dónde estás^a? 10 Y él respondió: Te oí¹ en el huerto, y tuve miedo^a porque estaba desnudo, y me escondí. 11 Y Dios le dijo: ¿Quién te ha hecho saber que estabas desnudo? ¿Has comido del árbol del cual te mandé que no comieras? 12 Y el hombre respondió: La mujer que tú me diste por compañera¹ me dio del árbol, y yo comí^a. 13 Entonces el SEÑOR Dios dijo a la mujer: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho? Y la mujer respondió: La serpiente me engañó^a, y yo comí. 14 Y el SEÑOR Dios dijo a la serpiente:Por cuanto has hecho esto,maldita^a serás¹ más que todos los animales,y más que todas las bestias del campo;sobre tu vientre andarás,y polvo comerás^btodos los días de tu vida.

16 A la mujer dijo:En gran manera multiplicarétu dolor en el parto¹,con dolor darás a luz los hijos^a;y con todo, tu deseo será para tu marido,y él tendrá dominio sobre ti^b. 17 Entonces dijo a Adán: Por cuanto has escuchado la voz de tu mujer y has comido del árbol del cual te ordené, diciendo: «No comerás de él»,maldita^a será¹ la tierra por tu causa;con trabajo^2b comerás de ellatodos los días de tu vida.

20 Y el hombre le puso por nombre Eva^1a a su mujer, porque ella era la madre de todos los vivientes. 21 Y el SEÑOR Dios hizo vestiduras de piel para Adán y su mujer, y los vistió.

22 Entonces el SEÑOR Dios dijo: He aquí, el hombre ha venido a ser como uno de nosotros^a, conociendo el bien y el mal; cuidado ahora no vaya a extender su mano y tomar también del árbol de la vida^b, y coma y viva para siempre. 23 Y el SEÑOR Dios lo echó del huerto del Edén, para que labrara la tierra de la cual fue tomado. 24 Expulsó, pues, al hombre^a; y al oriente del huerto del Edén^b puso querubines^c, y una espada encendida que giraba en todas direcciones, para guardar el camino del árbol de la vida^d.

Now ^athe serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the LORD God had made. And ¹the serpent (Satan) said to the woman, “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat from ²any tree of the garden’?” Rev 12:9-11 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “^aWe may eat fruit from the trees of the garden, 3 except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God said, ‘You shall not eat from it nor touch it, otherwise you will die.’” 4 But ^athe serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die! 2+@Cor 11:3 5 For God knows that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened that is, you will have greater awareness, and ^ayou will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil.” 6 And ^awhen the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise and insightful, she took some of its fruit and ate it; and she also gave some to her husband ¹with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of the two of them were opened that is, their awareness increased, and they ^aknew that they were naked; and they fastened fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

8 And they heard the sound of ^athe LORD God walking in the garden in the cool afternoon breeze of the day, ^bso the man and his wife hid and kept themselves hidden from the ¹presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to Adam, and said to him, “^aWhere are you?” 10 He said, “^aI heard the sound of You walking in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” 11 God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten fruit from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 ^aAnd the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me—she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” And the woman said, “^aThe serpent beguiled and deceived me, and I ate from the forbidden tree.” 2+@Cor 11:3; 1+@Tim 2:14 14 The LORD God said to the serpent,“^aBecause you have done this,You are cursed more than all the cattle,And more than any animal of the field;On your belly you shall go,And ^bdust you shall eatAll the days of your life.

17 Then to Adam the LORD God said, “Because you have listened attentively to the voice of your wife, and have eaten fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’;^aThe ground is now under a curse because of you;^bIn sorrow and toil you shall eat the fruit of itAll the days of your life.

20 The man named his wife ^aEve (life spring, life giver) , because she was the mother of all the living. 21 The LORD God made tunics of animal skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them.

22 And the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of ^aUs (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) , knowing how to distinguish between good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take from ^bthe tree of life as well, and eat its fruit, and live in this fallen, sinful condition forever”— 23 therefore the LORD God sent Adam away from the Garden of Eden, to till and cultivate the ground from which he was taken. 24 So God ^adrove the man out; and at the ^beast of the Garden of Eden He permanently stationed the ^1ccherubim and the sword with the flashing blade which turned round and round in every direction to protect and guard the way (entrance, access) to ^dthe tree of life.
