¹Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: Ve a Faraón y dile: «Así dice el SEÑOR: “Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me sirva^a. 2 Pero si te niegas a dejarlos ir, he aquí, heriré todo tu territorio con ranas. 3 Y el Nilo se llenará¹ de ranas, que subirán y entrarán en tu casa, en tu alcoba y sobre tu cama^a, y en las casas de tus siervos y en tu pueblo, en tus hornos y en tus artesas. 4 Y subirán las ranas sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre todos tus siervos”». 5 ¹Dijo además el SEÑOR a Moisés: Di a Aarón: «Extiende tu mano con tu vara sobre los ríos, sobre los arroyos² y sobre los estanques^a, y haz que suban ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto». 6 Y extendió Aarón su mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, y las ranas subieron y cubrieron¹ la tierra de Egipto^a. 7 Y los magos¹ hicieron lo mismo² con sus encantamientos^3a, e hicieron subir ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto.

8 Entonces Faraón llamó a Moisés y a Aarón^a, y dijo: Rogad al SEÑOR para que quite las ranas de mí y de mi pueblo, y yo dejaré ir al pueblo^b para que ofrezca sacrificios al SEÑOR^c. 9 Y Moisés dijo a Faraón: Dígnate decirme¹ cuándo he de rogar por ti, por tus siervos y por tu pueblo, para que las ranas sean quitadas² de ti y de tus casas y queden solamente en el río.

10 Y él respondió: Mañana. Entonces Moisés dijo: Sea conforme a tu palabra para que sepas que no hay nadie como el SEÑOR nuestro Dios^a. 11 Y las ranas se alejarán de ti, de tus casas, de tus siervos y de tu pueblo^a;solo quedarán en el Nilo. 12 Entonces Moisés y Aarón salieron de la presencia de Faraón, y Moisés clamó al SEÑOR^a acerca de las ranas que Él había puesto sobre Faraón. 13 Y el SEÑOR hizo conforme a la palabra de Moisés, y murieron las ranas de las casas, de los patios y de los campos. 14 Y las juntaron en montones, y la tierra se corrompió¹. 15 Pero al ver Faraón que había alivio, endureció¹ su corazón y no los escuchó, tal como el SEÑOR había dicho^a.

16 Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: Di a Aarón: «Extiende tu vara y golpea el polvo de la tierra para que se convierta en piojos¹ por toda la tierra de Egipto». 17 Y así lo hicieron; y Aarón extendió su mano con su vara, y golpeó el polvo de la tierra, y hubo piojos¹ en hombres y animales. Todo el polvo de la tierra se convirtió en piojos² por todo el país de Egipto^a. 18 Y los magos¹ trataron de producir piojos² con sus encantamientos³, pero no pudieron^a; hubo, pues, piojos en hombres y animales. 19 Entonces los magos¹ dijeron a Faraón: Este es el dedo de Dios^a. Pero el corazón de Faraón se endureció² y no los escuchó, tal como el SEÑOR había dicho.

20 Y el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: Levántate muy de mañana y ponte delante de Faraón cuando vaya¹ al agua^a, y dile: «Así dice el SEÑOR: “Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me sirva^b. 21 Porque si no dejas ir a mi pueblo, he aquí, enviaré enjambres de insectos sobre ti, sobre tus siervos, sobre tu pueblo y dentro de tus casas; y las casas de los egipcios se llenarán de enjambres de insectos, y también el suelo sobre el cual están. 22 Mas en aquel día yo pondré aparte la tierra de Gosén en la que mora¹ mi pueblo^a, para que no haya allí enjambres de insectos, a fin de que sepas que yo, el SEÑOR, estoy² en medio de la tierra^b; 23 y yo haré distinción¹ entre mi pueblo y tu pueblo. Mañana tendrá lugar esta señal”». 24 Y así lo hizo el SEÑOR. Y entraron grandes¹ enjambres de insectos en la casa de Faraón y en las casas de sus siervos, y en todo el país de Egipto la tierra fue devastada a causa de los enjambres de insectos^a.

25 Entonces llamó Faraón a Moisés y a Aarón, y dijo^a: Id, ofreced sacrificio a vuestro Dios dentro del país^b. 26 Pero Moisés respondió: No conviene que lo hagamos así, porque es abominación para¹ los egipcios lo que sacrificaremos al SEÑOR nuestro Dios^a. Si sacrificamos lo que es abominación para² los egipcios delante de sus ojos, ¿no nos apedrearán? 27 Andaremos una distancia de tres días de camino en el desierto, y ofreceremos sacrificios al SEÑOR nuestro Dios, tal como Él nos manda^1a. 28 Y Faraón dijo: Os dejaré ir para que ofrezcáis sacrificio al SEÑOR vuestro Dios en el desierto^a,solo que no vayáis muy lejos. Orad por mí^b. 29 Entonces dijo Moisés: He aquí, voy a salir de tu presencia y rogaré al SEÑOR que los enjambres de insectos se alejen mañana de Faraón, de sus siervos y de su pueblo; pero que Faraón no vuelva a obrar con engaño, no dejando ir al pueblo a ofrecer sacrificios al SEÑOR^a. 30 Y salió Moisés de la presencia de Faraón y oró al SEÑOR^a. 31 Y el SEÑOR hizo como Moisés le pidió¹, y quitó los enjambres de insectos de Faraón, de sus siervos y de su pueblo; no quedó ni uno solo. 32 Pero Faraón endureció¹ su corazón también esta vez y no dejó salir al pueblo^a.

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD, “^aLet My people go, so that they may serve Me. 2 However, if you refuse to let them go, hear this: I am going to strike your entire land with frogs. 3 The Nile will ^aswarm with frogs, which will come up and go into your home, into your bedroom and on to your bed, and into the houses of your servants and on your people, and into your ovens and your kneading bowls. 4 So the frogs will come up on you and on your people and all your servants.”’” 5 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘^aStretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the streams and canals, over the pools among the reeds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’” 6 So Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff over the waters of Egypt, and the ^afrogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. 7 But ^athe magicians (soothsayer-priests) did the same thing with their secret arts and enchantments, and ¹brought up more frogs on the land of Egypt.

8 Then Pharaoh ^acalled for Moses and Aaron and said, “^bPlead with the LORD that He may take away the frogs from me and my people; and ^cI will let the people go, so that they may sacrifice to the LORD.” 9 And Moses said to Pharaoh, “I am entirely at your service: when shall I plead with the Lord for you and your servants and your people, so that the frogs may leave you and your houses and remain only in the Nile?”

10 Then Pharaoh said, “¹Tomorrow.” Moses replied, “May it be as you say, so that you may know without any doubt and acknowledge that there is ^ano one like the LORD our God. 11 The ^afrogs will leave you and your houses and leave your servants and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.” 12 So Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, and ^aMoses cried out to the LORD as he had agreed to do concerning the frogs which God had inflicted on Pharaoh. 13 The LORD did as Moses asked, and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courtyards and villages, and out of the fields. 14 So they piled them up in heaps, and the land was detestable and stank. 15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was temporary relief, he hardened his heart and ^awould not listen or pay attention to them, just as the LORD had said.

16 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground, and it will become biting gnats (lice) throughout the land of Egypt.’” 17 They did so; Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the earth, and there were biting gnats on man and animal. All the dust of the land became ^agnats through all the land of Egypt. 18 The magicians (soothsayer-priests) tried by their secret arts and enchantments to create gnats, but ^athey could not; and there were gnats on man and animal. 19 Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “^aThis is the supernatural finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.

20 Now the LORD said to Moses, “^aGet up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh as ^bhe is coming out to the water of the Nile, and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD, “^cLet My people go, so that they may serve Me. 21 For if you do not let My people go, hear this: I will send swarms of bloodsucking insects on you and on your servants and on your people and into your houses; and the houses of the Egyptians will be full of swarms of insects, as well as the ground on which they stand. 22 ^aBut on that day I will separate and set apart the land of Goshen, where My people are living, so that no swarms of insects will be there, so that you may know without any doubt and acknowledge that ^bI, the LORD, am in the midst of the earth. 23 I will ¹put a division (distinction) between My people and your people. By tomorrow this sign shall be in evidence.”’” 24 Then the LORD did so. And there came heavy and oppressive swarms of bloodsucking insects into the house of Pharaoh and his servants’ houses; in all the land of Egypt the land was ^acorrupted and ruined because of the great invasion of insects.

25 Then Pharaoh ^acalled for Moses and Aaron and said, “^bGo, sacrifice to your God here in the land of Egypt.” 26 But Moses said, “It is not right or even possible to do that, for we will sacrifice to the LORD our God what is ^arepulsive and unacceptable to the Egyptians that is, animals that the Egyptians consider sacred. If we sacrifice what is repulsive and unacceptable to the Egyptians, will they not riot and stone us? 27 We must go a ^athree days’ journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as He commands us.” 28 So Pharaoh said, “^aI will let you go, so that you may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far away. ^bPlead with your God for me.” 29 Moses said, “I am going to leave you, and I will urgently petition (pray, entreat) the LORD that the swarms of insects may leave Pharaoh, his servants, and his people tomorrow; only do not let Pharaoh ^aact deceitfully again by not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.”

30 So ^aMoses left Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD on behalf of Pharaoh. 31 The LORD did as Moses asked, and removed the swarms of bloodsucking insects from Pharaoh, from his servants and from his people; not one remained. 32 But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, ^aand he did not let the people go.
