^aCuando la reina de Sabá oyó de la fama de Salomón, vino a Jerusalén a probar a Salomón con preguntas difíciles. Ella tenía un séquito muy grande, con camellos cargados de especias y gran cantidad de oro y piedras preciosas. Cuando vino a Salomón, habló con él de todo lo que tenía en su corazón. 2 Y Salomón contestó todas sus preguntas¹; no hubo nada tan oscuro que Salomón no pudiera explicárselo². 3 Cuando la reina de Sabá vio la sabiduría de Salomón, la casa que él había edificado, 4 los manjares de su mesa, las habitaciones de sus siervos, el porte de sus ministros y sus vestiduras, sus coperos y sus vestiduras, y la escalinata por la cual él subía a¹ la casa del SEÑOR, se quedó sin aliento². 5 Entonces dijo al rey: Era verdad lo que había oído en mi tierra acerca de tus palabras y de tu sabiduría. 6 Pero yo no creía lo que me decían¹, hasta que he venido y mis ojos lo han visto. Y he aquí, no se me había contado ni la mitad de la grandeza de tu sabiduría. Tú superas todo lo que había oído. 7 Bienaventurados tus hombres, bienaventurados estos tus siervos que están delante de ti continuamente y oyen tu sabiduría. 8 Bendito sea el SEÑOR tu Dios que se agradó en ti, poniéndote sobre su trono como rey para el SEÑOR tu Dios^a; porque tu Dios amó a Israel afirmándolo para siempre, por lo cual te ha puesto por rey sobre ellos^b para hacer derecho y justicia. 9 Entonces ella dio al rey ciento veinte talentos¹ de oro, y gran cantidad de especias aromáticas y piedras preciosas. Nunca hubo especias aromáticas como las que la reina de Sabá dio al rey Salomón. 10 Y los siervos de Hiram¹ y los siervos de Salomón que habían traído oro de Ofir, trajeron también madera de sándalo y piedras preciosas^a. 11 Con la madera de sándalo el rey hizo gradas para la casa del SEÑOR y para el palacio del rey; también liras y arpas para los cantores; no se había visto en la tierra de Judá madera comoesa. 12 El rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo cuanto ella quiso pedirle¹, más² de lo que había traído al rey. Después ella se volvió y regresó a su tierra con³ sus siervos.

13 ^aEl peso del oro que llegaba a Salomón en un solo año era de seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro, 14 sin contar lo que los mercaderes y los comerciantes traían. Todos los reyes de Arabia y los gobernadores de la tierra traían oro y plata a Salomón^a. 15 Y el rey Salomón hizo doscientos escudos grandes de oro batido, usando¹ seiscientos siclos² de oro batido en cada escudo. 16 También hizo trescientos escudos de oro batido, usando trescientos siclos de oro en cada escudo; y el rey los puso en la casa del bosque del Líbano.

17 El rey hizo además un gran trono de marfil y lo revistió de oro puro. 18 Y había seis gradas hasta el trono y un estrado de oro unido al trono, con brazos¹ a cada lado² del asiento, y dos leones de pie junto a los brazos³. 19 Y doce leones estaban allí de pie en las seis gradas a uno y otro lado; nada semejante se hizo para ningún otro reino. 20 Todos los vasos de beber del rey Salomón eran de oro, y todas las vasijas de la casa del bosque del Líbano eran de oro puro. A la plata no se le atribuía valor¹ en los días de Salomón, 21 porque el rey tenía naves que iban a Tarsis^a con los siervos de Hiram¹, y cada tres años las naves de Tarsis venían trayendo oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.

22 Así el rey Salomón llegó a ser más grande que todos los reyes de la tierra en riqueza y sabiduría^a. 23 Y todos los reyes de la tierra procuraban ver a¹ Salomón, para oír la sabiduría que Dios había puesto en su corazón. 24 Cada uno de ellos traía su presente^a: objetos de plata y objetos de oro, vestidos, armas, especias, caballos y mulos; y así año tras año.

25 Salomón tenía cuatro mil establos para los caballos y carros y doce mil hombres de a caballo, y los situó en las ciudades de carros y en Jerusalén, junto al rey^a. 26 Él tenía dominio sobre todos los reyes desde el Eufrates¹ hasta la tierra de los filisteos, y hasta la frontera de Egipto^a. 27 El rey hizo la plata tan común en Jerusalén como las piedras, e hizo los cedros tan abundantes como los sicómoros que están en el llano^1a. 28 Y traían para Salomón caballos de Egipto^a y de todos los países.

29 ^aLos demás hechos de Salomón, los primeros y los postreros, ¿no están escritos en las palabras del profeta Natán^b y en la profecía de Ahías silonita, en las visiones del vidente Iddo¹ acerca de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat? 30 Y reinó Salomón en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel^a cuarenta años. 31 Y durmió Salomón con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de su padre David^a; y su hijo Roboam reinó en su lugar.

^aWhen the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to Jerusalem to test Solomon with riddles. She was accompanied by a very large number of attendants, with camels bearing spices (balsam oil) and a large amount of gold and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she talked with him about all that was on her mind. 2 Solomon ¹answered all her questions; nothing was hidden from him which he did not make clear to her. 3 So when the queen of Sheba saw the depth of Solomon’s wisdom, and the house which he had built, 4 and the food of his table, the vast seating order of his officials, the attendance and service of his ministers and their attire, his cupbearers and their attire, and his ¹stairway by which he went up to the house of the LORD, she was breathless. 5 She said to the king, “The report which I heard in my own land regarding your accomplishments and your words and your wisdom was true, 6 but I did not believe the reports until I came and saw it with my own eyes. Behold, the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told to me; you have surpassed the report that I heard. 7 Blessed and fortunate are your people, how blessed and fortunate are these servants of yours who stand before you continually and hear your wisdom! 8 Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you, ^asetting you on His throne as king for the LORD your God; ^bbecause your God loved Israel, establishing them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.” 9 Then she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, a very large amount of spices (balsam oil) and precious stones; there was no such spice anywhere like that which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

10 The servants of Huram and those of Solomon, ^awho brought gold from Ophir, also brought almug trees and precious stones. 11 From the almug timber the king made ¹stairways for the house of the LORD and for the king’s palace, and lyres and harps for the singers; none like that was seen before in the land of Judah.

12 King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all the things she desired, whatever she asked, ¹besides a return for what she had brought to the king. So she returned to her own land with her servants.

13 ^aNow the weight of gold which came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents, 14 besides what the traders and merchants brought; and all ^athe kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon. 15 King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold, using six hundred shekels of beaten gold on each large shield. 16 And he made three hundred smaller shields of beaten gold, using three hundred shekels of gold on each shield; and the king put them in the ¹house of the Forest of Lebanon.

17 Moreover, the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold. 18 There were six steps to the throne and a golden footstool attached to the throne, and arms on each side of the seat, with two lions standing beside the arms. 19 Also, twelve lions were standing there, one on each side of the six steps. Nothing like it had ever been made for any other kingdom. 20 All King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not considered valuable in the days of Solomon. 21 ^aFor the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years the ships of Tarshish came bringing gold and silver, ivory and apes and peacocks.

22 ^aSo King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in wealth and wisdom. 23 And all the kings of the earth were seeking the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom which God had put into his heart. 24 ^aEach man brought his gift, articles of silver and gold, garments, weapons, spices, horses and mules, so much year by year.

25 Now Solomon had ^a4,000 stalls for horses and chariots, and 12,000 horsemen, and he stationed them in the chariot cities or with the king at Jerusalem. Deut 17:16, 17 26 ^aHe ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, and as far as the border of Egypt. 27 ^aThe king made silver in Jerusalem as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as the ¹sycamore-fig trees that are in the ²lowland. 28 ^aAnd they were importing horses for Solomon from Egypt and from all the other countries.

29 ^aNow the rest of the acts of Solomon, from the first to the last, ^bare they not written in the records of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat? 30 ^aSolomon reigned forty years in Jerusalem over all Israel.

31 And Solomon slept with his fathers in death; he was buried in ^athe city of his father David. Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
