El comandante de su ejército era Sísara, que vivía en Haroset-goim^b. 3 Y los hijos de Israel clamaron al SEÑOR, porqueaquel¹ tenía novecientos carros de hierro^a y había oprimido duramente a los hijos de Israel por veinte años.

4 Débora, profetisa, mujer de Lapidot, juzgaba a Israel en aquel tiempo; 5 y se sentaba¹ debajo de la palmera de Débora entre Ramá y Betel^a, en la región montañosa de Efraín; y los hijos de Israel subían a ella a pedir juicio. 6 Y ella mandó llamar a Barac^a, hijo de Abinoam, de Cedes de Neftalí, y le dijo: Esto ha ordenado¹ el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: «Ve, marcha al monte Tabor y lleva contigo a diez mil hombres de los hijos de Neftalí y de los hijos de Zabulón. 7 Y yo atraeré hacia ti a Sísara, comandante del ejército de Jabín, con sus carros y sus muchas tropas¹ al torrente Cisón, y lo entregaré en tus manos^a». 8 Le respondió Barac: Si tú vas conmigo, yo iré; pero si no vas conmigo, no iré. 9 Y ella dijo: Ciertamente iré contigo; sin embargo, el honor no será tuyo en la jornada que vas a emprender, porque el SEÑOR venderá a Sísara en manos de una mujer^a. Entonces Débora se levantó y fue con Barac a Cedes. 10 Y Barac convocó a Zabulón^a y a Neftalí en Cedes, y subieron con él¹ diez mil hombres^b; Débora también subió con él.

11 Y Heber ceneo^a, se había separado de los ceneos, de los hijos de Hobab, suegro de Moisés, y había plantado su tienda cerca de la encina en Zaanaim^b, que está junto a Cedes.

12 Avisaron a Sísara que Barac, hijo de Abinoam, había subido al monte Tabor. 13 Y juntó Sísara todos sus carros, novecientos carros de hierro^a, y a todo el pueblo que estaba con él, desde Haroset-goim^b hasta el torrente Cisón. 14 Entonces Débora dijo a Barac: ¡Levántate!, porque este es el día en que el SEÑOR ha entregado a Sísara en tus manos; he aquí, el SEÑOR ha salido delante de ti^1a. Bajó, pues, Barac del monte Tabor seguido de diez mil hombres. 15 Y el SEÑOR derrotó¹ a Sísara, con todos sus carros y todo su ejército^a, a filo de espada delante de Barac; y Sísara bajó de su carro, y huyó a pie. 16 Mas Barac persiguió los carros y el ejército hasta Haroset-goim, y todo el ejército de Sísara cayó a filo de espada; no quedó ni uno^a.

17 Pero Sísara huyó a pie a la tienda de Jael, mujer de Heber ceneo; porque había paz entre Jabín, rey de Hazor, y la casa de Heber ceneo. 18 Y Jael salió al encuentro de Sísara, y le dijo: Ven¹, señor mío, ven² a mí; no temas. Y él fue³ hacia ella a la tienda, y ella lo cubrió con una manta. 19 Y él le dijo: Te ruego que me des de beber un poco de agua, porque tengo sed. Y ella abrió un odre de leche y le dio de beber^a; entonces lo cubrió. 20 Entonces él le dijo: Ponte a la entrada de la tienda, y si alguien viene, y te pregunta, y te dice: «¿Hay alguien aquí?», tú responderás: «No». 21 Pero Jael, mujer de Heber, tomó una estaca de la tienda y tomando¹ en la mano un martillo, se le acercó silenciosamente y le clavó la estaca en las sienes^a, la cual penetró en la tierra, pues él estaba profundamente dormido y agotado, y murió. 22 Y he aquí, cuando Barac perseguía a Sísara, Jael salió a su encuentro, y le dijo: Ven, y te mostraré al hombre que buscas. Y él entró con¹ ella, y he aquí que Sísara yacía muerto con la estaca en la sien.

23 Así sometió Dios en aquel día a Jabín, rey de Canaán, delante de los hijos de Israel^a. 24 Y la mano de los hijos de Israel se hizo más y más dura¹ sobre Jabín, rey de Canaán, hasta que lo destruyeron².

But the ^aIsraelites again did evil in the sight of the LORD, after Ehud died. 2 So the LORD sold them into the hand of ^aJabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in ^1bHarosheth-hagoyim. 3 Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD for help, for Jabin had nine hundred ^airon chariots and had oppressed and tormented the sons of Israel severely for twenty years.

4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5 She used to sit to hear and decide disputes under the ^apalm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the Israelites came up to her for judgment. 6 Now she sent word and summoned ^aBarak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh-naphtali, and said to him, “Behold, the LORD, the God of Israel, has commanded, ‘Go and march to Mount Tabor, and take with you ten thousand men of war from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun. 7 I will draw out Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his infantry to meet you at the river Kishon, and ^aI will hand him over to you.’” 8 Then Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go.” 9 She said, “I will certainly go with you; nevertheless, ¹the journey that you are about to take will not be for your honor and glory, ^abecause the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh. 10 And Barak summoned the fighting men of the tribes of ^aZebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and ten thousand men went up ^1bunder his command; Deborah also went up with him.

11 Now Heber ^athe Kenite had separated himself from the Kenites, from the sons of Hobab the ¹father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the ²terebinth tree in ^bZaanannim, which is near Kedesh.

12 When someone told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor, 13 Sisera called together all his chariots, ^anine hundred iron chariots, and all the people who were with him, from ^bHarosheth-hagoyim to the river Kishon. 14 Deborah said to Barak, “Arise! For this is the day when the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Has ^athe LORD not gone out before you?” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him. 15 And ^athe LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and confused all his army with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera dismounted from his chariot and fled away on foot. 16 But Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoyim, and the entire army of Sisera fell by the sword; ^anot even one man was left.

17 But Sisera fled on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, because there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me! Have no fear.” So he turned aside to her and went into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. 19 And ^ahe said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink because I am thirsty.” And she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink; then she covered him. 20 And he said to her, “Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, ‘Is there anyone here?’ tell him, ‘No.’” 21 But Jael, Heber’s wife, ^atook a tent peg and a hammer in her hand, and came up quietly to him and drove the peg through his temple, and it went through into the ground; for he was sound asleep and exhausted. So he died. 22 And behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” And he entered her tent with her, and behold Sisera lay dead with the tent peg in his temple.

23 So on that day ^aGod subdued and humbled Jabin king of Canaan before the sons of Israel. 24 And the hand of the sons of Israel pressed down heavier and heavier on Jabin king of Canaan, until they had destroyed him.

For this is the day on which the LORD has handed Sisera over to you; ¹behold, ^athe LORD has gone out before you.” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him. 15 ^aAnd the LORD ¹routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera got down from his chariot and fled on foot. 16 But Barak pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth-hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; ^anot even one was left.

17 Now Sisera fled on foot to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite, because there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, “Turn aside, my master, turn aside to me! Do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a ¹rug. 19 ^aAnd he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a leather bottle of milk and gave him a drink; then she covered him. 20 And he said to her, “Stand in the doorway of the tent, and it shall be if anyone comes and inquires of you, and says, ‘Is there anyone here?’ that you shall say, ‘No.’” 21 But Jael, Heber’s wife, ^atook a tent peg and ¹a hammer in her hand, and went secretly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went through into the ground; for he was sound asleep and exhausted. So he died. 22 And behold, while Barak was pursuing Sisera, Jael came out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he entered ¹with her, and behold, Sisera was lying dead with the tent peg in his temple.

23 So ^aGod subdued Jabin the king of Canaan on that day before the sons of Israel. 24 And the hand of the sons of Israel pressed harder and harder upon Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had eliminated Jabin the king of Canaan.
