Job se queja de su condición

Hastiado estoy¹ de mi vida^a:daré rienda suelta a mi queja,hablaré en la amargura de mi alma^b.2 Le diré a Dios: «No me condenes^a,hazme saber por qué contiendes conmigo.3 »¿Es justo¹ para ti oprimir^a,rechazar la obra de tus manos^b,y mirar con favor² los designios de los malos^c?4 »¿Acaso tienes tú ojos de carne,o ves como el hombre ve^a?5 »¿Son tus días como los días de un mortal,o tus años^a como los años del hombre,6 para que andes averiguando mi culpa,y buscando mi pecado^a?7 »Según tu conocimiento ciertamente no soy culpable^a;sin embargo no hay salvación de tu mano^b.

8 »Tus manos me formaron y me hicieron¹^a,¿y me destruirás^b?9 »Acuérdate ahora que me has modelado como a barro^a,¿y me harás volver al polvo^b?10 »¿No me derramaste como leche,y como queso me cuajaste?11 »¿No me vestiste de piel y de carne,y me entretejiste con huesos y tendones?12 »Vida y misericordia me has concedido,y tu cuidado ha guardado mi espíritu^a.13 »Sin embargo, tienes escondidas estas cosas en tu corazón,yo sé que esto está dentro de ti^a:14 si pecara, me lo tomarías en cuenta^a,y no me absolverías de mi culpa^b.15 »Si soy malvado^a, ¡ay de mí!,y si soy justo^b, no me atrevo a levantar la cabeza.Estoy harto de deshonra y consciente de¹ mi aflicción.16 »Si mi cabeza se levantara, como león me cazarías^a,y mostrarías tu poder^b contra mí.17 »Renuevas tus pruebas contra mí^a,y te ensañas¹ conmigo;tropas de relevo^b vienen contra mí².

18 »^a¿Por qué, pues, me sacaste de la matriz?¡Ojalá que hubiera muerto y nadie¹ me hubiera visto!19 »Sería como si no hubiera existido,llevado del vientre a la sepultura».20 ¿No dejará Él en paz mis breves días^a?Apártate de mí^b para que me consuele un poco21 antes que me vaya, para no volver^a,a la tierra de tinieblas y sombras profundas^b;22 tierra tan lóbrega como las mismas tinieblas,de sombras profundas, sin orden,y donde la luz es como las tinieblas.

“^aI am disgusted with my life and loathe it!I will give free expression to ^bmy complaint;I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.2 “I will say to God, ‘^aDo not condemn me and declare me guilty!Show me why You contend and argue and struggle with me.3 ‘Does it indeed seem right to You to ^aoppress,To despise and reject ^bthe work of Your hands,And to look with favor on ^cthe schemes of the wicked?4 ‘Do You have eyes of flesh?Do You ^asee as a man sees?5 ‘Are Your days as the days of a mortal,Are ^aYour years as man’s years,6 That ^aYou seek my guiltAnd search for my sin?7 ‘Although You know that ^aI am not guilty or wicked,Yet there is ^bno one who can rescue me from Your hand.

8 ‘^aYour hands have formed and made me altogether.^bWould You turn around and destroy me?9 ‘Remember now, that You have made me as ^aclay;So will You ^bturn me into dust again?10 ‘Have You not poured me out like milkAnd curdled me like cheese?11 ‘You have clothed me with skin and flesh,And knit me together with bones and sinews.12 ‘You have ^agranted me life and lovingkindness;And Your providence (divine care, supervision) has preserved my spirit.13 ‘Yet ^athese present evils You have hidden in Your heart since my creation:I know that this was within You in Your purpose and thought.14 ‘If I sin, then You would ^atake note and observe me,And You ^bwould not acquit me of my guilt.15 ‘If ^aI am wicked, woe to me for judgment comes!And ^bif I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head.For I am sated and filled with disgrace and the sight of my misery.16 ‘Should I lift my head up, ^aYou would hunt me like a lion;And again You would show Your marvelous ^bpower against me.17 ‘You renew ^aYour witnesses against meAnd increase Your indignation and anger toward me;^bHardship after hardship is with me attacking me time after time.

18 ‘^aWhy then did You bring me out of the womb?Would that I had perished and no eye had seen me!19 ‘I should have been as though I had not existed;I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.’20 “Would He not ^alet my few days alone,^bWithdraw from me that I may have a little cheer21 Before I go—^aand I shall not return—^bTo the land of darkness and the ^cdeep shadow of death,22 The sunless land of utter gloom as darkness itself,The land of the shadow of death, without order,And where it shines as thick darkness.”

18 ‘^aWhy then did You bring me out of the womb?If only I had died and no eye had seen me!19 ‘I should have been as though I had not been,Brought from womb to tomb.’20 “Would He not leave ^amy few days alone?¹^bWithdraw from me so that I may have a little cheerfulness21 Before I go—^aand I shall not return—^bTo the land of darkness and ^cdeep shadow,22 The land of utter gloom like darkness itself,Of deep shadow without order,And it shines like darkness.”
