¡Oíd¹ ahora^a, ricos^b! Llorad y aullad por las miserias que vienen sobre vosotros^c. 2 Vuestras riquezas se han podrido^a y vuestras ropas están comidas de polilla. 3 Vuestro oro y vuestra plata se han oxidado, su herrumbre será un testigo contra vosotros y consumirá vuestra carne como fuego. Es en¹ los últimos días que habéis acumulado tesoros^a. 4 Mirad, el jornal de los obreros que han segado vuestros campos^a y que ha sido retenido por vosotros, clama contra vosotros; y el clamor de los segadores^b ha llegado a los oídos del Señor de los ejércitos^1c. 5 Habéis vivido lujosamente sobre la tierra^a, y habéis llevado una vida de placer desenfrenado; habéis engordado¹ vuestros corazones en el día de la matanza^b. 6 Habéis condenado y dado muerte^1a al justo^b; él no os hace resistencia.

7 Por tanto, hermanos^a, sed pacientes hasta la venida del Señor^b. Mirad cómo el labrador espera el fruto precioso de la tierra^c, siendo paciente en ello hasta que recibe la lluvia temprana y la tardía^d. 8 Sed también vosotros pacientes^a; fortaleced vuestros corazones^b, porque la venida del Señor^c está cerca^d. 9 Hermanos^a, no os quejéis unos contra otros^b, para que no seáis juzgados; mirad, el Juez^c está a¹ las puertas^d. 10 Hermanos^a, tomad como ejemplo de paciencia y aflicción a los profetas^b que hablaron en el nombre del Señor. 11 Mirad que tenemos por bienaventurados^a a los que sufrieron¹. Habéis oído de la paciencia^2b de Job, y habéis visto el resultado del proceder³ del Señor^c, que el Señor es muy compasivo, y misericordioso^d.

12 Y sobre todo, hermanos míos^a, no juréis, ni por el cielo, ni por la tierra, ni con ningún otro juramento; antes bien, sea vuestro sí¹, sí, y vuestro no², no^b, para que no caigáis bajo juicio.

13 ¿Sufre alguno entre vosotros^a? Que haga oración^b. ¿Está alguno alegre? Que cante alabanzas^c. 14 ¿Está alguno entre vosotros enfermo? Que llame a los ancianos de la iglesia^a y que ellos oren por él, ungiéndolo¹ con aceite en el nombre del Señor^b; 15 y la oración de fe^a restaurará¹ al enfermo^b, y el Señor lo levantará^c, y si ha cometido pecados le serán perdonados². 16 Por tanto, confesaos vuestros pecados unos a otros^a, y orad unos por otros para que seáis sanados^b. La oración¹ eficaz^c del justo puede lograr mucho. 17 Elías era un hombre de pasiones semejantes a las nuestras^1a, y oró fervientemente² para que no lloviera^b, y no llovió sobre la tierra por tres años y seis meses^c. 18 Y otra vez oró^a, y el cielo dio lluvia^b y la tierra produjo su fruto.

19 Hermanos míos, si alguno de entre vosotros^a se extravía de la verdad^b y alguno le hace volver, 20 sepa¹ que el que hace volver a un pecador del error de su camino salvará su alma de muerte^a, y cubrirá multitud de pecados^b.

^aCome quickly now, ^byou rich who lack true faith and hoard and misuse your resources, ^cweep and howl over the miseries the woes, the judgments that are coming upon you. 2 ^aYour wealth has rotted and is ruined and your fine clothes have become moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. You have stored up your treasure ^ain the last days when it will do you no good. 4 Look! ^aThe wages that you have fraudulently withheld from the laborers who have mowed your fields are crying out against you for vengeance; and ^bthe cries of the harvesters have come to the ears of ^1cthe Lord of Sabaoth. 1+@Sam 1:3 5 On the earth you have ^alived luxuriously and abandoned yourselves to soft living and led a life of wanton pleasure self-indulgence, self-gratification; you have fattened your hearts in ^ba day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and have ^aput to death ^bthe righteous man; he offers you no resistance.

7 So wait patiently, ^abrothers and sisters, ^buntil the coming of the Lord. ^cThe farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land, being patient about it, until it receives ^dthe early and late rains. 8 ^aYou too, be patient; ^bstrengthen your hearts keep them energized and firmly committed to God, because ^cthe coming of the Lord is ^dnear. 9 ^aDo not complain against one another, ^bbelievers, so that you will not be judged for it. Look! ^cThe Judge is standing ^1dright at the door. 10 As an example, ^abrothers and sisters, of suffering and patience, take ^bthe prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord as His messengers and representatives. 11 You know we call those ^ablessed happy, spiritually prosperous, favored by God who were steadfast and endured difficult circumstances. You have heard of ^bthe patient endurance of Job and you have seen the Lord’s ^coutcome how He richly blessed Job. ^dThe Lord is full of compassion and is merciful. Job 1:21, 22; 42:10; Ps 111:4

12 But above all, ^amy fellow believers, ^bdo not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but let your yes be a truthful yes, and your no be a truthful no, so that you may not fall under judgment. Matt 5:34-37

13 Is anyone among you ^asuffering? ^bHe must pray. Is anyone joyful? He is to ^csing praises to God. 14 Is anyone among you sick? He must call for ^athe elders (spiritual leaders) of the church and they are to pray over him, ^banointing him with ¹oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the ^aprayer of faith will ^brestore the one who is sick, and the Lord will ^craise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, ^aconfess your sins to one another your false steps, your offenses, and pray for one another, that you may be ^bhealed and restored. ^cThe heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power. 17 Elijah was ^aa man with a nature like ours with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings, and ^bhe prayed ¹intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for ^cthree years and six months. 1+@Kin 17:1 18 Then he ^aprayed again, and ^bthe sky gave rain and the land produced its crops as usual. 1+@Kin 18:42-45

19 My brothers and sisters, ^aif anyone among you strays from ^bthe truth and falls into error and another one turns him back to God, 20 let the latter one know that the one who has turned a sinner from the error of his way will ^asave that one’s soul from death and ^bcover a multitude of sins that is, obtain the pardon of the many sins committed by the one who has been restored.
