Por tanto, a los ancianos entre vosotros^a, exhorto yo, anciano como ellos^b y testigo de los padecimientos de Cristo^c, y también participante de la gloria que ha de ser revelada^d: 2 pastoread el rebaño de Dios entre vosotros^a, velando por él, no por obligación^b, sino voluntariamente, como quiere Dios; no por la avaricia del dinero^1c, sino con sincero deseo; 3 tampoco como teniendo señorío^a sobre los que os han sido confiados¹, sino demostrando ser² ejemplos del rebaño^b. 4 Y cuando aparezca el Príncipe de los pastores^1a, recibiréis la corona inmarcesible^b de gloria^c. 5 Asimismo, vosotros los más jóvenes, estad sujetos a los mayores^1a; y todos, revestíos de humildad en vuestro trato mutuo^b, porque DIOS RESISTE A LOS SOBERBIOS, PERO DA GRACIA A LOS HUMILDES^c.

6 Humillaos^a, pues, bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que Él os exalte a su debido tiempo, 7 echando toda vuestra ansiedad sobre Él, porque Él tiene cuidado de vosotros^a. 8 Sed de espíritu sobrio^a, estad alerta^b. Vuestro adversario, el diablo^c, anda al acecho como león rugiente^d, buscando a quien devorar. 9 Pero resistidle^1a firmes en la fe^b, sabiendo que las mismas experiencias de sufrimiento^c se van cumpliendo en vuestros hermanos² en todo el mundo. 10 Y después de que hayáis sufrido un poco de tiempo^a, el Dios de toda gracia^b, que os llamó^c a su gloria eterna en Cristo^d, Él mismo os perfeccionará^e, afirmará^f, fortalecerá y establecerá. 11 A Él sea el dominio por los siglos de los siglos^a. 12 Por conducto^a de Silvano, nuestro fiel hermano (porque así¹ lo considero), os he escrito brevemente^b, exhortando y testificando que esta es la verdadera gracia de Dios^c. Estad firmes en ella^d. 13 La¹ que está en Babilonia, elegida juntamente con vosotros, os saluda, y también mi hijo Marcos^a. 14 Saludaos unos a otros con un beso de amor fraternal^a.

^aTherefore, I strongly urge the elders among you pastors, spiritual leaders of the church, as a ^bfellow elder and as an ^ceyewitness called to testify of the sufferings of Christ, as well as ^done who shares in the glory that is to be revealed: 2 shepherd and guide and protect ^athe flock of God among you, exercising oversight ^bnot under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and ^cnot motivated for shameful gain, but with wholehearted enthusiasm; 3 not ^alording it over those assigned to your care do not be arrogant or overbearing, but be ^bexamples of Christian living to the flock set a pattern of integrity for your congregation. 4 And when the Chief ^aShepherd (Christ) appears, you will receive the conqueror’s ^bunfading ^ccrown of glory. 5 Likewise, ^ayou younger men of lesser rank and experience, ^bbe subject to your elders seek their counsel; and all of you, clothe yourselves with ^chumility toward one another tie on the servant’s apron, for ^dGOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD the disdainful, the presumptuous, and He defeats them, BUT HE GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. Prov 3:34

6 Therefore ^ahumble yourselves under the mighty hand of God set aside self-righteous pride, so that He may exalt you to a place of honor in His service at the appropriate time, John 3:30 7 casting all your ^acares all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all on Him, for He cares about you with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully. Ps 55:22 8 ^aBe sober well balanced and self-disciplined, ^bbe alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, ^cthe devil, prowls around like a roaring ^dlion fiercely hungry, seeking someone to devour. 9 ^aBut resist him, ^bbe firm in your faith against his attack—rooted, established, immovable, knowing that ^cthe same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. You do not suffer alone. 10 After you have suffered ^afor a little while, the ^bGod of all grace who imparts His blessing and favor, who ^ccalled you to His own ^deternal glory in Christ, will Himself ^ecomplete, ^fconfirm, strengthen, and establish you making you what you ought to be. 11 ^aTo Him be dominion (power, authority, sovereignty) forever and ever. Amen.

12 By ^1aSilvanus, our faithful brother (as I consider him), ^bI have written to you briefly, to counsel and testify that this is ^cthe true grace the undeserved favor of God. ^dStand firm in it! 13 She the church who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son in the faith, ^aMark. 14 ^aGreet one another with a kiss of love.

^bTo all of you who are in Christ, may there be peace.
