Y poco¹ después, Él comenzó a recorrer las ciudades y aldeas, proclamando y anunciando las buenas nuevas del reino de Dios^a; con Él iban los doce, 2 y también algunas mujeres^a que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malos y de enfermedades: María, llamada Magdalena^b, de la que habían salido siete demonios, 3 y Juana, mujer de Chuza, mayordomo^a de Herodes^b, y Susana, y muchas otras que de sus bienes personales contribuían al sostenimiento de ellos.

4 ^aHabiéndose congregado una gran multitud, y los que de varias ciudades acudían a Él, les habló por parábola: 5 El sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla; y al sembrarla, una parte cayó junto al camino, y fue pisoteada y las aves del cielo se la comieron. 6 Otra parte cayó sobre la roca, y tan pronto como creció, se secó, porque no tenía humedad. 7 Otra parte cayó en medio de los espinos; y los espinos, al crecer con ella, la ahogaron. 8 Y otra parte cayó en tierra buena, y creció y produjo una cosecha a ciento por uno. Y al hablar estas cosas, Jesús exclamaba: El que tiene oídos para oír, que oiga^a.

9 ^aSus discípulos le preguntaban qué quería decir esta parábola, 10 y Él dijo: A vosotros se os ha concedido conocer los misterios del reino de Dios^a, pero a los demás les hablo en parábolas, para que VIENDO, NO VEAN; Y OYENDO, NO ENTIENDAN^b. 11 La parábola esesta: la semilla es la palabra de Dios^a. 12 Yaquellos a lo largo del camino son los que han oído, pero después viene el diablo y arrebata la palabra de sus corazones, para que no crean y se salven. 13 Yaquellos sobre la roca son los que, cuando oyen, reciben la palabra con gozo; pero¹estos no tienen raíz profunda; creen² por algún tiempo, y en el momento de la tentación sucumben. 14 Y la semilla que cayó entre los espinos,estos son los que han oído, y al continuar su camino son ahogados por las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y su fruto no madura. 15 Pero la semilla en la tierra buena,estos son los que han oído la palabra con corazón recto y bueno, y la retienen, y dan fruto con su perseverancia.

16 Nadie enciende una lámpara y la cubre con una vasija, o la pone debajo de una cama, sino que la pone sobre un candelero para que los que entren vean la luz^a. 17 Pues no hay nada oculto que no haya de ser manifiesto, ni secreto que no haya de ser conocido y salga a la luz^a. 18 Por tanto, tened cuidado de cómo oís; porque al que tiene, más le será dado; y al que no tiene, aun lo que cree que tiene¹ se le quitará^a.

19 ^aEntonces su madre y sus hermanos llegaron a donde Él estaba, pero no podían acercarse a Él debido al gentío. 20 Y le avisaron: Tu madre y tus hermanos están afuera y quieren verte. 21 Pero respondiendo Él, les dijo: Mi madre y mis hermanos son estos que oyen la palabra de Dios y la hacen^a.

22 ^aY¹ uno de aquellos días, entró en una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado del lago^b. Y se hicieron a la mar. 23 Pero mientras ellos navegaban, Él se durmió; y una violenta tempestad¹ descendió sobre el lago^a, y comenzaron a anegarse y corrían peligro. 24 Y llegándose a Él, le despertaron, diciendo: ¡Maestro, Maestro^a, que perecemos! Y Él, levantándose, reprendió^b al viento y a las olas embravecidas, y cesaron y sobrevino la calma. 25 Y Él les dijo: ¿Dónde está vuestra fe? Pero ellos estaban atemorizados y asombrados, diciéndose unos a otros: ¿Quién, pues, eseste que aun a los vientos y al agua manda y le obedecen?

26 ^aNavegaron hacia la tierra de los gadarenos¹ que está al lado opuesto de Galilea; 27 y cuando Él bajó a tierra, le salió al encuentro un hombre de la ciudad poseído por demonios, y que por mucho tiempo no se había puesto ropa alguna, ni vivía en una casa, sino en los sepulcros. 28 Al ver a Jesús, gritó y cayó delante de Él, y dijo en alta voz: ¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo¹, Jesús, Hijo del Dios^a Altísimo? Te ruego que no me atormentes^b. 29 Porque Él mandaba al espíritu inmundo que saliera del hombre, pues muchas veces¹ se había apoderado de él, y² estaba atado con cadenas y grillos y bajo guardia; a pesar de todo rompía las ataduras y era impelido por el demonio a los desiertos. 30 Entonces Jesús le preguntó: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y él dijo: Legión^a; porque muchos demonios habían entrado en él. 31 Y le rogaban que no les ordenara irse al abismo^a. 32 Y había una piara de muchos cerdos paciendo allí en el monte; y los demonios le rogaron que les permitiera entrar en los cerdos¹. Y Él les dio permiso. 33 Los demonios salieron del hombre y entraron en los cerdos; y la piara se precipitó por el despeñadero al lago^a, y se ahogaron. 34 Y cuando los que los cuidaban vieron lo que había sucedido, huyeron y lo contaron en la ciudad y por los campos. 35 Salió entonces la gente a ver qué había sucedido; y vinieron a Jesús, y encontraron al hombre de quien habían salido los demonios, sentado a los pies de Jesús^a, vestido y en su cabal juicio, y se llenaron de temor. 36 Y los que lo habían visto, les contaron cómo el que estaba endemoniado^a había sido sanado¹. 37 Entonces toda la gente¹ de la región alrededor de los gadarenos le pidió a Jesús que se alejara de ellos, porque estaban poseídos de un gran temor. Y Él entrando a una barca, regresó. 38 ^aPero el hombre de quien habían salido los demonios le rogaba que le permitiera acompañarle¹; mas Él lo despidió, diciendo: 39 Vuelve a tu casa, y cuenta cuán grandes cosas¹ Dios ha hecho por ti. Y él se fue, proclamando por toda la ciudad cuán grandes cosas² Jesús había hecho por él.

40 Cuando Jesús volvió, la multitud le recibió con gozo^a, porque todos le habían estado esperando. 41 ^aY he aquí, llegó un hombre llamado Jairo, que era un oficial¹ de la sinagoga^b; y cayendo a los pies de Jesús le rogaba que entrara a su casa; 42 porque tenía una hija única¹, como de doce años, que estaba al borde de la muerte. Pero mientras Él iba, la muchedumbre le apretaba.

43 Y una mujer que había tenido un flujo de sangre por doce años y que había gastado en médicos todo cuanto tenía¹ y no podía ser curada por nadie, 44 se acercó a Jesús por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto, y al instante cesó el flujo de su sangre. 45 Y Jesús dijo: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? Mientras todos lo negaban, Pedro dijo, y los que con él estaban¹: Maestro^a, las multitudes te aprietan y te oprimen. 46 Pero Jesús dijo: Alguien me tocó, porque me di cuenta que de mí había salido poder^a. 47 Al ver la mujer que ella no había pasado inadvertida, se acercó temblando, y cayendo delante de Él, declaró en presencia de todo el pueblo la razón por la cual le había tocado, y cómo al instante había sido sanada. 48 Y Él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha sanado^1a; vete en paz^b.

49 Mientras estaba todavía hablando, vino* alguien de la casa del oficial de la sinagoga^a, diciendo: Tu hija ha muerto; no molestes más al Maestro. 50 Pero cuando Jesús lo oyó, le respondió: No temas^a; cree solamente, y ella será sanada¹. 51 Y cuando Él llegó a la casa, no permitió que nadie entrara con Él sinosolo Pedro, Juan y Jacobo¹, y el padre y la madre de la muchacha. 52 Todos la lloraban y se lamentaban^a; pero Él dijo: No lloréis, porque no ha muerto, sino que duerme^b. 53 Y se burlaban de Él, sabiendo que ella había muerto. 54 Pero Él, tomándola de la mano, clamó, diciendo: ¡Niña, levántate! 55 Entonces le volvió su espíritu, y se levantó al instante, y Él mandó que le dieran de comer. 56 Y sus padres estaban asombrados; pero Él les encargó que no dijeran a nadie^a lo que había sucedido.

Soon afterward, Jesus began going around from one city and village to another, ^apreaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve disciples were with Him, 2 and also ^asome women who had been healed of evil spirits and diseases: ^bMary, called Magdalene from the city of Magdala in Galilee, from whom seven demons had come out, 3 and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, ^aHerod’s ^bhousehold steward, and Susanna, and many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means as was the custom for a rabbi’s disciples.

4 ^aWhen a large crowd was gathering together, and people from city after city were coming to Him, He spoke to them using a parable: Matt 13:2-9; Mark 4:1-9 5 “The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell beside the road and it was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the sky ate it up. 6 And some seed fell on shallow soil covering the rocks, and as soon as it sprouted, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. 8 And some fell into good soil, and grew up and produced a crop a hundred times as great.” As He said these things, He called out, “^aHe who has ears to hear, let him hear and heed My words.”

9 Now ^aHis disciples began asking Him what this parable meant. 10 And He said, “^aTo you who have been chosen it has been granted to know and recognize the ¹mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is in parables, so that though ^bSEEING THEY MAY NOT SEE, AND HEARING THEY MAY NOT UNDERSTAND. Is 6:9, 10; Jer 5:21; Ezek 12:2

11 “Now the meaning of the parable is this: ^aThe seed is the word of God concerning eternal salvation. 12 Those beside the road are the people who have heard; then the devil comes and takes the message of God away from their hearts, so that they will not believe in Me as the Messiah and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky soil are the people who, when they hear, receive and welcome the word with joy; but these have no firmly grounded root. They believe for a while, and in time of trial and temptation they fall away from Me and abandon their faith. 14 The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, but as they go on their way they are suffocated with the anxieties and riches and pleasures of this life, and they bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But as for that seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word with a good and noble heart, and hold on to it tightly, and bear fruit with patience.

16 “Now ^ano one lights a lamp and then covers it with a container to hide it, or puts it under a bed; instead, he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. Matt 5:15; Mark 4:21; Luke 11:33 17 ^aFor there is nothing hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come out into the open. 18 So be careful how you listen; ^afor whoever has a teachable heart, to him more understanding will be given; and whoever does not have a longing for truth, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.” Matt 13:12; 25:29; Mark 4:25

19 ^aThen Jesus’ mother and His brothers came up toward Him, but they could not reach Him because of the crowd. Matt 12:46-50; Mark 3:31-35 20 And He was told, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, asking to see You.” 21 But He answered, “My mother and My brothers are these ^awho listen to the word of God and do it!”

22 Now on ^aone of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side of ^bthe lake (Sea of Galilee) .” So they set out. Matt 8:23-27; Mark 4:36-41 23 But as they were sailing, He fell asleep. And a fierce gale of wind swept down as if through a wind tunnel on ^athe lake, and they began to be swamped, and were in great danger. 24 They came to Jesus and woke Him, saying, “^aMaster, Master, we are about to die!” He got up and ^brebuked the wind and the raging, violent waves, and they ceased, and it became calm a perfect peacefulness. 25 And He said to them, “Where is your faith your confidence in Me?” They were afraid and astonished, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the sea, and they obey Him?”

26 ^aThen they sailed to the ¹country of the Gerasenes, which is east of Galilee. Matt 8:28-34; Mark 5:1-17 27 Now when Jesus stepped out on land, He was met by a man from the city of Gerasa who was possessed with demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and was not living in a house, but among the ¹tombs. 28 Seeing Jesus, he cried out with a terrible voice from the depths of his throat and fell down before Him in dread and terror, and shouted loudly, “^1aWhat business do we have in common with each other, Jesus, Son of ^bthe Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me before the appointed time of judgment!” 29 Now He was already commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him violently many times; and he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert. 30 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered, “^aLegion”; because many demons had entered him. 31 They continually begged Him not to command them to go into ^athe abyss. Rev 9:1

32 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the mountain. The demons begged Jesus to allow them to enter the pigs, and He gave them permission. 33 Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into ^athe lake and was drowned.

34 When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and told it in the city and out in the country. 35 And people came out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting ^aat Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind (mentally healthy) ; and they were frightened. 36 Those who had seen it told them how the man who had been ^ademon-possessed had been healed. 37 Then all the people of the country of the Gerasenes and the surrounding district asked Him to leave them, because they were overwhelmed with fear. So Jesus got into the boat and returned to the west side of the Sea of Galilee. 38 ^aBut the man from whom the demons had gone out kept begging Him, pleading to go with Him; but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return home and tell about all the great things God has done for you.” So the man went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

40 ^aNow as Jesus was returning to Galilee, the people welcomed Him, for they had all been expecting Him. 41 ^aNow a man named Jairus, a ^bsynagogue official, came to Him; and he fell at Jesus’ feet and began begging Him to come to his house; Matt 9:18-26; Mark 5:22-43 42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as Jesus went, the people were crowding against Him almost crushing Him.

43 And a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years [¹and had spent all her money on physicians], and could not be healed by anyone, 44 came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His outer robe, and immediately her bleeding stopped. 45 Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” While they all were denying it, Peter [¹and those who were with him] said, “^aMaster, the people are crowding and pushing against You!” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, because I was aware that ^apower to heal had gone out of Me.” 47 When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came up trembling and fell down before Him. She declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 He said to her, “Daughter, ^ayour faith your personal trust and confidence in Me has made you well. ^bGo in peace (untroubled, undisturbed well-being) .”

49 While He was still speaking, someone from ^athe synagogue official’s house came and said to Jairus, “Your daughter is dead; do not inconvenience the Teacher any further.” 50 But Jesus, hearing this, answered him, “^aDo not be afraid any longer; only believe and trust in Me and have faith in My ability to do this, and she will be made well.” 51 When He came to the house, He allowed no one to enter with Him, except Peter and John and James, and the girl’s father and mother. 52 Now they were all weeping loudly and ^amourning for her; but He said, “Do not weep, for she is not dead, but is ^bsleeping.” 53 Then they began laughing scornfully at Him and ridiculing Him, knowing without any doubt that she was dead. 54 But Jesus took hold of her hand and spoke, saying, “Child, arise!” 55 And her spirit returned, and she got up immediately; and He ordered that she be given something to eat. 56 Her parents were greatly astonished by the miracle; but He ^ainstructed them to tell no one what had happened.

19 ^aNow His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd. 20 And it was reported to Him, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.” 21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these ^awho hear the word of God and do it.”

22 ^aNow on one of those days ¹Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of ^bthe lake.” So they launched out. 23 But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on ^athe lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. 24 They came up to Jesus and woke Him, saying, “^aMaster, Master, we are perishing!” And He got up and ^brebuked the wind and the surging ¹waves, and they stopped, and ²it became calm. 25 And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”

I beg You, do not torment me!” 29 For He had already commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and yet he would break the restraints and be driven by the demon into the desert. 30 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “^aLegion”; because many demons had entered him. 31 And they were begging Him not to command them to go away into ^athe abyss.

32 Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding there on the mountain; and the demons begged Him to permit them to enter ¹the pigs. And He gave them permission. 33 And the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into ^athe lake and was drowned.

34 Now when the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and reported everything in the city, and in the country. 35 And the people came out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down ^aat the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened. 36 Those who had seen everything reported to them how the man who had been ^ademon-possessed had been ¹made well. 37 And all the ¹people of the territory of the Gerasenes and the surrounding region asked Him to leave them, because they were overwhelmed by great fear; and He got into a boat and returned. 38 ^aBut the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might ¹accompany Him; but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your home and describe what great things God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city what great things Jesus had done for him.

40 ^aAnd as Jesus was returning, the ¹people welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him. 41 ^aAnd a man named Jairus came, and he was an ^1bofficial of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus’ feet, and began urging Him to come to his house; 42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as He went, the crowds were pressing against Him.

43 And a woman who had suffered a chronic flow of blood for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, 44 came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His ¹cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “^aMaster, the ¹people are crowding and pressing in on You.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that ^apower had left Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and admitted in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, ^ayour faith has ¹made you well; ^bgo in peace.”

16 “Now ^ano one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. 17 ^aFor nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. 18 So take care how you listen; ^afor whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he ¹thinks he has shall be taken away from him.”

19 ^aAnd His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd. 20 And it was reported to Him, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.” 21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these ^awho hear the word of God and do it.”

22 ^aNow on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side of ^bthe lake.” So they launched out. 23 But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on ^athe lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. 24 They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, “^aMaster, Master, we are perishing!” And He got up and ^brebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and ¹it became calm. 25 And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”

26 ^aThen they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 And when He came out onto the land, He was met by a man from the city who was possessed with demons; and who had not put on any clothing for a long time, and was not living in a house, but in the tombs. 28 Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, “^1aWhat business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of ^bthe Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me.” 29 For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and yet he would break his bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert. 30 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “^aLegion”; for many demons had entered him. 31 They were imploring Him not to command them to go away into ^athe abyss.

32 Now there was a herd of many swine feeding there on the mountain; and the demons implored Him to permit them to enter ¹the swine. And He gave them permission. 33 And the demons came out of the man and entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into ^athe lake and was drowned.

34 When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and reported it in the city and out in the country. 35 The people went out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down ^aat the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened. 36 Those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was ^ademon-possessed had been ¹made well. 37 And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes and the surrounding district asked Him to leave them, for they were gripped with great fear; and He got into a boat and returned. 38 ^aBut the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might ¹accompany Him; but He sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

40 ^aAnd as Jesus returned, the ¹people welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him. 41 ^aAnd there came a man named Jairus, and he was an ^1bofficial of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus’ feet, and began to implore Him to come to his house; 42 for he had an ¹only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as He went, the crowds were pressing against Him.

43 And a woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, 44 came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His ¹cloak, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “^aMaster, the ¹people are crowding and pressing in on You.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that ^apower had gone out of Me.” 47 When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, ^ayour faith has ¹made you well; ^bgo in peace.”

49 While He was still speaking, someone *came from the house of ^athe synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; do not trouble the Teacher anymore.” 50 But when Jesus heard this, He answered him, “^aDo not be afraid any longer; only believe, and she will be ¹made well.” 51 When He came to the house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him, except Peter and John and James, and the girl’s father and mother. 52 Now they were all weeping and ^alamenting for her; but He said, “Stop weeping, for she has not died, but ^bis asleep.” 53 And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died. 54 He, however, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Child, arise!” 55 And her spirit returned, and she got up immediately; and He gave orders for something to be given her to eat. 56 Her parents were amazed; but He ^ainstructed them to tell no one what had happened.
