Esto¹ me mostró el Señor DIOS²: He aquí, Él formaba enjambre de langostas^a cuando comenzaba a brotar³ la cosecha de primavera. 10 Entonces Amasías, sacerdote de Betel^a, envió palabra a Jeroboam, rey de Israel^b, diciendo: Amós conspira contra ti en medio de la casa de Israel; la tierra ya no puede soportar todas sus palabras^c. 11 Porque así dice Amós: «Jeroboam morirá a espada y ciertamente Israel saldrá en cautiverio de su tierra». 12 Y Amasías dijo a Amós: Vete, vidente, huye^a a la tierra de Judá, come allí pan y allí profetiza; 13 pero en Betel no vuelvas a profetizar más^a, porque es santuario del rey^b y residencia¹ real.

14 Entonces respondió Amós y dijo a Amasías: Yo no soy profeta, ni hijo de profeta^a, sino que soy boyero y cultivador¹ de sicómoros. 15 Pero el SEÑOR me tomó cuando pastoreaba el¹ rebaño, y² me dijo: Ve, profetiza a mi pueblo Israel^a. 16 Ahora pues, escucha la palabra del SEÑOR: Tú dices: «No profetices^a contra Israel ni hables¹ contra^b la casa de Isaac». 17 Por tanto, así dice el SEÑOR: «Tu mujer se prostituirá^a en la ciudad, tus hijos y tus hijas caerán a espada^b, tu tierra será repartida a cordel, y tú morirás en una tierra inmunda^c. Y ciertamente Israel saldrá de su tierra en cautiverio».

Thus the Lord GOD showed me a vision, and behold, He was forming a ^aswarm of locusts when the spring crop began to sprout. And behold, the spring crop was after the king’s mowing. 2 And when the locusts had ^afinished eating the plants of the land, then I said,“O ^bLord GOD, please forgive!How can Jacob stand,For he is so ^csmall that he cannot endure this?”

4 Thus the Lord GOD showed me, and behold, the Lord GOD called for punishment with ^afire, and it devoured the great deep underground sources of water and began to consume the land. 5 Then I said,“O ^aLord GOD, please stop!^bHow can Jacob stand,For he is so small that he cannot endure this?”

7 Thus He showed me a vision, and behold, the Lord was standing by a vertical wall with a plumb line in His hand to determine if the wall was straight or if it needed to be destroyed. 2+@Kin 21:13; Is 34:11 8 The LORD said to me, “Amos, ^awhat do you see?” And I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said,“Behold, I am setting a ^bplumb line as a standardAmong My people Israel showing the defectiveness of the nation, requiring judgment.I shall not ^cspare them any longer. The door of mercy is shut.

10 Then Amaziah, the ^apriest of Bethel site of the golden calf shrine, sent word to ^1bJeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has ^cconspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is unable to endure all his words. 1+@Kin 12:31, 32 11 For in this way Amos has said, ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword and Israel will certainly go from its land into exile.’” 12 Then Amaziah said to Amos, “^aGo, you seer, run for your life from Israel to the land of Judah your own country and eat bread and live as a prophet there! 13 But ^ado not prophesy any longer at Bethel, for it is the king’s ^bsanctuary and a royal residence.” Luke 10:10-12

14 Then Amos replied to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet by profession, nor am I a ^aprophet’s son; I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs. 15 But the LORD took me as I followed the flock and the LORD said to me, ‘Go, ^aprophesy to My people Israel.’ 16 Now therefore, listen to the word of the LORD: You say, ‘^aYou shall not prophesy against Israel ^bnor shall you speak against the house of Isaac.’ 17 Therefore, thus says the LORD, ‘Your ^awife shall become a prostitute in the city when the ¹Assyrians capture Samaria and your ^bsons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by a measuring line; you yourself shall die in an ^cunclean and defiled pagan land, and Israel shall certainly go from its land into exile.’”

7 So He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing ¹by a ²vertical wall with a plumb line in His hand. 8 And the LORD said to me, “^aWhat do you see, Amos?” And I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said,“Behold I am about to put a ^bplumb lineIn the midst of My people Israel.I will not ^1cspare them any longer.

Furthermore Israel will certainly go from its land into exile.’”
