^aCuando salía del templo, uno de sus discípulos le dijo*: Maestro, ¡mira qué¹ piedras y qué² edificios! 2 Y Jesús le dijo: ¿Ves estos grandes edificios? No quedará piedra sobre piedra^a que no sea derribada.

3 Y estando Él sentado en el monte de los Olivos^a, frente al templo, Pedro, Jacobo¹, Juan^b y Andrés le preguntaban en privado: 4 Dinos, ¿cuándo sucederá¹ esto, y qué señal² habrá cuando todas estas cosas se hayan de cumplir? 5 Y Jesús comenzó a decirles: Mirad que nadie os engañe. 6 Muchos vendrán en mi nombre diciendo: «Yo soy^a el Cristo», y engañarán a muchos. 7 Y cuando oigáis de guerras y de rumores de guerras, no os alarméis; es necesario que todo esto suceda, pero todavía no es el fin. 8 Porque se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino; y habrá terremotos en diversos lugares; y habrá hambres. Estosolo es el comienzo de dolores¹.

9 Pero estad alerta¹; porque os entregarán a los tribunales² y seréis azotados en las sinagogas^a, y compareceréis delante de gobernadores y reyes por mi causa, para testimonio a ellos. 10 Pero primero el evangelio debe ser predicado a todas las naciones^a. 11 ^aY cuando os lleven y os entreguen, no os preocupéis de antemano por lo que vais a decir, sino que lo que os sea dado en aquella hora, eso hablad; porque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino el Espíritu Santo. 12 Y el hermano entregará a la muerte al hermano, y el padre al hijo; y los hijos se levantarán contra los padres, y les causarán la muerte¹. 13 Y seréis odiados de todos por causa de mi nombre^a, pero el que persevere hasta el fin,ese será salvo.

14 Mas cuando veáis la ABOMINACIÓN DE LA DESOLACIÓN^a puesta donde no debe estar (el que lea, que entienda), entonces los que estén en Judea huyan a los montes^b; 15 y el que esté en la azotea, no baje ni entre a sacar nada de su casa^a; 16 y el que esté en el campo, no vuelva atrás a tomar su capa. 17 Pero, ¡ay de las que estén encinta y de las que estén criando en aquellos días! 18 Orad para que esto no suceda en el invierno. 19 Porque aquellos días serán de tribulación, tal como no ha acontecido desde el principio de la creación^a que hizo¹ Dios hasta ahora, ni acontecerá jamás. 20 Y si el Señor no hubiera acortado aquellos¹ días, nadie² se salvaría; pero por causa de los escogidos³ que Él eligió⁴, acortó los días. 21 Entonces, si alguno os dice: «Mirad, aquí está el Cristo¹», o: «Mirad, allí está», no le creáis. 22 Porque se levantarán falsos Cristos y falsos profetas^a, y mostrarán señales¹ y prodigios^b a fin de extraviar, de ser posible, a los escogidos². 23 Mas vosotros, estad alerta; ved que os lo he dicho todo de antemano.

24 Pero en aquellos días, después de esa tribulación, EL SOL SE OSCURECERÁ Y LA LUNA NO DARÁ SU LUZ^a, 25 LAS ESTRELLAS IRÁN CAYENDO del cielo y las potencias que están en los cielos serán sacudidas^a. 26 Entonces verán AL HIJO DEL HOMBRE^a QUE VIENE EN LAS NUBES con gran poder y gloria^b. 27 Y entonces enviará a los ángeles, y reunirá a sus escogidos¹ de los cuatro vientos^a, desde el extremo de la tierra hasta el extremo del cielo^b.

28 De la higuera aprended la parábola: cuando su rama ya se pone tierna y echa las hojas, sabéis que el verano está cerca. 29 Así también vosotros, cuando veáis que suceden estas cosas, sabed que Él está cerca¹, a las puertas. 30 En verdad os digo que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto suceda. 31 El cielo y la tierra pasarán, mas mis palabras no pasarán. 32 Pero de aquel día o de aquella hora nadie sabe, ni siquiera los ángeles en el cielo, ni el Hijo, sinosolo el Padre^a.

33 Estad alerta, velad^a; porque no sabéis cuándo es el tiempo señalado. 34 Es como un hombre que se fue de viaje, y al salir de su casa dejó a sus siervos encargados¹, asignándole a cada uno su tarea, y ordenó al portero que estuviera alerta^a. 35 Por tanto, velad^a, porque no sabéis cuándo viene el señor de la casa, si al atardecer, o a la medianoche, o al canto del gallo^b, o al amanecer^c; 36 no sea que venga de repente y os halle dormidos^a. 37 Y lo que a vosotros digo, a todos lo digo: ¡Velad^a!

^aAs He was coming out of the temple grounds, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, look what ¹wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” Matt 24; Luke 21:5-36 2 Jesus replied to him, “You see these great buildings? ^aNot one stone will be left on another which will not be ¹torn down!”

3 As He was sitting on ^athe Mount of Olives opposite the temple, ^bPeter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately, 4 “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign when all these things are about to be fulfilled?” 5 Jesus began to say to them, “Be careful and see to it that no one misleads you. 6 Many will come in My name misusing My name or claiming to be the Messiah, saying, ‘^aI am He!’ and will deceive and mislead many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed (frightened, troubled) ; these things must take place, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These things are the beginning of the ¹birth pangs the intolerable anguish and suffering.

9 “But be on your guard; they will ^aturn you over to courts, and you will be beaten ^bin synagogues, and you will stand as accused before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them. 10 ^aThe gospel that is, the good news regarding the way of salvation must first be preached to all the Gentile nations. Col 1:6, 23 11 ^aWhen they take you and turn you over to the court, do not worry beforehand about what to say, but say whatever is given to you by God in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit who will speak through you. 12 Brother will betray brother to be put to death, and a father will hand over his child; and children will rise up and take a stand against parents and have them put to death. 13 ^aYou will be hated by everyone because of your association with My name, but the one who patiently perseveres empowered by the Holy Spirit and endures to the end, he will be saved.

14 “But ^awhen you see the ^1bABOMINATION OF DESOLATION standing in the temple sanctuary where it ought not to be (let the ²reader understand) then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. Dan 9:27; 11:31; 12:11 15 ^aWhoever is on the housetop must not go down to enter the house, or go inside to take anything out of his house; 16 whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his coat. 17 And woe to those women who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 18 Pray that it will not occur in winter, 19 for at that time there will be such tribulation as has not occurred, ^afrom the beginning of the creation which God made, until now—and never will be again. 20 And if the Lord had not shortened the days, no human life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose for Himself, He shortened the days. Dan 12:1 21 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) !’ or, ‘Look, He is there!’ do not believe it; 22 for false Christs and ^afalse prophets will arise, and they will provide ^bsigns and ^cwonders in order to deceive, if such a thing were possible, even the elect those God has chosen for Himself. 23 But be on your guard; I have told you everything in advance.

24 “But in those days, after the suffering and distress of that tribulation, ^aTHE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, Is 13:10 25 ^aAND THE STARS WILL BE FALLING from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. Is 34:4 26 Then they will see ^aTHE SON OF MAN ^bCOMING IN CLOUDS with great power and glory in royal majesty and splendor. Dan 7:13, 14 27 And then He will send out the angels, and ^awill gather together His elect those He has chosen for Himself from the four winds, ^bfrom the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven.

28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: as soon as its branch becomes tender and it puts out its leaves, you recognize that summer is near. Matt 24:32, 33; Luke 21:29-31 29 Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, know for certain that He is near, right at the door. 30 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, this generation the people living when these signs and events begin will not pass away until all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth as now known will ¹pass away, but My words will not pass away. 32 ^aBut of that exact day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son in His humanity, but the Father alone.

33 “^aBe on guard and stay constantly alert [¹and pray]; for you do not know when the appointed time will come. 34 ^aIt is like a man away on a journey, who when he left home put his servants in charge, each with his particular task, and also ordered the doorkeeper to be continually alert. 35 Therefore, ^abe continually on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or ^bwhen the rooster crows, or ^cin the morning— 36 stay alert, in case he should come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you ^aasleep and unprepared. 37 What I say to you I say to everyone, ‘^aBe on the alert stay awake and be continually cautious!’”

28 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, ¹recognize that ²He is near, right at the ³door. 30 Truly I say to you, this ¹generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. 32 ^aBut of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

33 “Take heed, ^akeep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time ¹will come. 34 ^aIt is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and ¹putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert. 35 Therefore, ^abe on the alert—for you do not know when the ¹master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or ^bwhen the rooster crows, or ^cin the morning— 36 in case he should come suddenly and find you ^aasleep. 37 What I say to you I say to all, ‘^aBe on the alert!’”
