Tristezas de Sión

¹¡Cómo yace solitariala ciudad^a de tanta gente^b!Se ha vuelto como una viuda^cla grande entre las naciones;la princesa entre las provincias²^dse ha convertido en tributaria^e.2 Amargamente llora en la noche,y las lágrimas corren por sus mejillas;no hay quien la consuele^aentre todos sus amantes^b.Todos sus amigos la han traicionado,se le han convertido en enemigos^c.3 Judá ha ido al destierro bajo¹ afliccióny bajo² dura³ servidumbre^a.Ella habita entre las naciones,mas no halla descanso^b;todos sus perseguidores la han alcanzadoen medio de la angustia⁴^c.4 Los caminos de Sión están de luto,porque nadie viene a las fiestas solemnes^a.Todas sus puertas están desoladas^b,gimen sus sacerdotes,sus vírgenes están afligidas^c,y ella misma está amargada¹^d.5 Sus adversarios se han convertido en sus amos¹,sus enemigos prosperan²,porque el SEÑOR la ha afligidopor la multitud de sus transgresiones^a;sus niños han ido cautivosdelante del adversario.6 De la hija de Sión se ha idotodo su esplendor.Sus príncipes son como ciervos^aque no hallan pasto,y huyen¹^b sin fuerzasdelante del perseguidor.7 Jerusalén recuerda en los días de su aflicción y de su vagar¹todos sus tesorosque existían desde los tiempos antiguos^a,cuando su pueblo cayó en mano del adversariosin que nadie la ayudara^b.Al verla sus adversarios,se burlaron de su ruina²^c.8 En gran manera ha pecado Jerusalén,por lo cual se ha vuelto cosa inmunda^a.Todos los que la honraban la desprecian^bporque han visto su desnudez,y¹ ella gime^c y se vuelve de espaldas.9 Su inmundicia está en sus faldas^a;no consideró su futuro¹^b,y ha caído²^c de manera sorprendente;no hay quien la consuele^d.Mira, oh SEÑOR, mi aflicción^e,porque se ha engrandecido el enemigo^f.10 El adversario ha extendido su manoa todos sus tesoros;ciertamente ella ha visto a las naciones entrar en su santuario^a,a las que tú ordenasteque no entraran en tu congregación^b.11 Todo su pueblo gime buscando pan^a;han dado sus tesoros a cambio de comidapara restaurar sus vidas¹^b.Mira, oh SEÑOR, y observaque me están despreciando^c.12 Vosotros, todos los que pasáis^a por el camino, ¿no os importa esto?Observad y ved si hay dolor¹ como mi dolor²,con el que fui atormentada,con el que el SEÑOR me afligió el día de su ardiente ira^b.13 Desde lo alto Él envió fuegoque penetró¹ en mis huesos^a.Ha tendido una red^b a mis pies,me ha hecho volver atrás,me ha dejado desolada,desfallecida²^c todo el día.14 Atado ha sido el yugo de mis transgresiones^a,por su mano han sido entrelazadas,han caído sobre mi cuello^b.Él ha hecho que me falten¹ las fuerzas;el Señor me ha entregado en manoscontra las cuales no puedo resistir^c.15 A todos mis valientes ha rechazado el Señorde en medio de mí^a;ha convocado contra mí un tiempo determinado¹^bpara quebrantar a mis jóvenes^c;el Señor ha hollado como en un lagara la virgen hija de Judá.16 Por estas cosas lloro yo;mi ojo, mi ojo derrama agua^a,porque lejos de mí está el consolador^b,el que reanima mi alma.Mis hijos están desoladosporque ha prevalecido el enemigo.17 Sión extiende sus manos,no hay quien la consuele^a.El SEÑOR ha ordenado contra Jacobque los que lo rodean sean sus adversarios^b;Jerusalén se ha vuelto cosa inmunda en medio de ellos^c.18 El SEÑOR es justo^a,pues me he rebelado contra su mandamiento¹^b.Oíd ahora, pueblos todos,y ved mi dolor²^c:mis vírgenes y mis jóveneshan ido al cautiverio^d.19 Llamé a mis amantes, mas ellos me han engañado^a.Mis sacerdotes^b y mis ancianos han perecido en la ciudad,cuando buscaban alimento para sí a fin de restaurar sus fuerzas¹^c.20 Mira, oh SEÑOR, que estoy angustiada;hierven mis entrañas,mi corazón se revuelve dentro de mí^a,porque he sido muy rebelde^b.En la calle la espada me deja sin hijos,en la casa es como la muerte.21 Han oído que gimo,y no hay quien me consuele.Todos mis enemigos han oído de mi mal,se regocijan de que tú lo hayas hecho^a.¡Oh, si tú trajeras el día que has anunciado,para que sean ellos como yo^b!22 Venga toda su maldad delante de ti,y trátalos como a mí me has tratado^apor todas mis transgresiones;porque son muchos mis gemidos, y desfallece mi corazón.

The Sorrows of Zion

¹How ^asolitary and lonely sits the city JerusalemThat was once ^bfull of people!How like a ^cwidow she has become.She who was ^dgreat among the nations!The princess among the provinces,Has become a ^eforced laborer!2 She ^aweeps bitterly in the nightAnd her tears are constantly on her cheeks;Among all her ^blovers (political allies)She has no one to comfort her.All her friends have ^cdealt treacherously with her;They have become her enemies. Jer 3:1; 4:303 ^aJudah has gone into exile under afflictionAnd under harsh servitude;She dwells ^bamong the pagan nations,But she has found no rest;All ^cher pursuers have overtaken herIn the midst of her distress.4 The roads to Zion are in mourningBecause ^ano one comes to the appointed feasts.All her gates are ^bdesolate;Her priests are groaning,Her ^cvirgins are grieved and suffering,And she suffers ^dbitterly.5 Her adversaries have become her masters,Her enemies prosper;For the LORD has ^acaused her griefBecause of the multitude of her transgressions;Her young children have goneInto captivity before the enemy. Jer 30:14, 15; 52:28; Dan 9:7-146 All her ^abeauty and majestyHave departed from the Daughter of Zion (Jerusalem) .Her princes have become like deerThat have found no pasture;They have ^bfled without strengthBefore the pursuer.7 In the days of her affliction and homelessness^aJerusalem remembers all her precious thingsThat she had from the days of old,When her people fell into the hand of the adversary,And ^bno one helped her,The enemy saw her,They ^cmocked at her downfall.8 Jerusalem sinned ^agreatly;Therefore ^bshe has become an unclean thing and has been removed.All who honored her now despise herBecause they have seen her nakedness;Even ^cshe herself groans and turns her face away.9 Her (ceremonial) ^auncleanness was on her skirts;She did not seriously consider her ^bfuture.Therefore she has ^ccome down from throne to slavery in an astonishing manner;^dShe has no comforter.“O LORD” cries Jerusalem, “^elook at my affliction,For the enemy has ^fmagnified himself in triumph!”10 The adversary has spread out his handOver all her precious and desirable things;For she has seen the Gentile ^anations enter her sanctuary (the Jerusalem temple)—¹The ones whom You commandedThat they should ^bnot enter into Your congregation not even in the outer courts. Deut 23:3; Jer 51:51; Ezek 44:7, 911 All her people groan, ^aseeking bread;They have exchanged their desirable and precious things for foodTo ^brestore their lives.“See, O LORD, and considerHow ^cdespised and repulsive I have become!”12 “Is ^ait nothing to you, all you who pass this way?Look and see if there is any pain like my painWhich was severely dealt out to me,Which the ^bLORD has inflicted on me on the day of His ^cfierce anger.13 “From on high He sent fire into my ^abones,And it prevailed over them.He has spread a ^bnet for my feet;He has turned me back.He has made me ^cdesolate and hopelessly miserable,Faint all the day long.14 “The ^ayoke of my transgressions is bound;By His hand they are knit and woven together.They have ^bcome upon my neck.He has made my strength fail;The Lord ^chas put me into the handOf those against whom I cannot stand. Deut 28:4815 “The ^aLord has rejected all the strong menIn my midst;He has proclaimed an established time against meTo crush my ^byoung men.The Lord has ^ctrampled down as in a wine pressThe Virgin Daughter of Judah.16 “I ^aweep for these things;My eyes overflow with tears,Because a ^bcomforter,One who could restore my soul, is far away from me.My children are desolate and perishing,For the enemy has prevailed.” Lam 1:2117 Zion ^astretches out her hands,But there is no comforter for her.The LORD has ^bcommanded concerning JacobThat his neighbors should be his enemies;^cJerusalem has become a filthy thing an object of contempt among them.18 “The LORD is ^arighteous and just;For I have ^brebelled against His commandment (His word) .Hear now, all you peoples,And ^clook at my pain;^dMy virgins and my young menHave gone into captivity.19 “I Jerusalem ^acalled to my lovers (political allies) , but they deceived me.My ^bpriests and my elders perished in the cityWhile they looked for food to ^crestore their strength.20 “See, O LORD, how distressed I am!My ^aspirit is deeply disturbed;My heart is overturned within me and cannot rest,For I have been very ^brebellious.In the street the sword kills and bereaves;In the house there is famine, disease and death!21 “People have heard that I ^agroan,That I have no comforter in You.All my enemies have heard of my desperation;They are ^bdelighted O LORD that You have done it.Oh, that You would bring the day of judgment which You have proclaimedSo that they will become ^clike me.
