Profecía sobre Amón

Acerca de los hijos de Amón.Así dice el SEÑOR:¿No tiene hijos Israel?¿No tiene heredero?¿Por qué, pues, Milcom1 se ha apoderado de Gaday su pueblo se ha establecido en sus ciudades?

2 Por tanto, he aquí, vienen días—declara el SEÑOR—en que haré que se oiga el grito de guerraacontra Rabá de los hijos de Amónb,y será convertida en montón de ruinas,y sus ciudades1 serán incendiadas.Entonces se apoderará Israel de los que lo poseíanc—dice el SEÑOR.3 Gime, Hesbóna, porque Hai ha sido destruidab.Clamad, hijas de Rabá,ceñíosc de cilicio y lamentaos,corred de un lado a otro por entre los muros,porque Milcom1 irá al destierrojunto con sus sacerdotes y sus príncipesd.4 ¡Cómo te jactasa de los valles!Tu valle se desvanece,hija infielb,la que confía en sus tesorosc, diciendo:«¿Quién vendrá contra míd?».5 He aquí, traigo sobre ti terror—declara el Señor, DIOS1a de los ejércitos—de todos tus alrededoresb;y seréis lanzados cada uno delante de sí,y no habrá quien reúna a los fugitivosc.6 Pero después restauraréel bienestar1a de los hijos de Amón—declara el SEÑOR.

7 Acerca de Edom.Así dice el SEÑORa de los ejércitos:¿No hay ya sabiduríab en Temán?¿Se ha perdido el consejoc de los prudentes?¿Se ha corrompido su sabiduría?

8 Huid, volved, morad en las profundidades,habitantes de Dedána,porque la ruina de Esaú traeré1 sobre élal momento de castigarlo2b.9 Si vinieran a ti vendimiadores,¿no dejarían rebuscos?Si vinieran ladrones de noche,solo destruirían hasta que les bastara1a.10 Pero yo he despojado totalmente a Esaú,he descubierto sus escondrijosay no podrá esconderse.Ha sido destruida su descendencia1, sus hermanosy vecinos, y él ya no existeb.11 Deja a tus huérfanos, yo los conservaré con vida;que tus viudasa confíen en mí.

12 Pues así dice el SEÑOR: He aquí, los que no estaban condenados a1 beber la copa, ciertamente la beberána, ¿y serás tú absuelto por completo? No serás absuelto, sino que ciertamente la beberásb. 13 Porque por mí he jurado—declara el SEÑORa—que Bosra será motivo de horror, de oprobio, de ruina y de maldiciónb; todas sus ciudades se convertirán en ruinas perpetuasc.

14 He oído un mensaje de parte del SEÑOR,y un mensajero es enviadoa entre las naciones, diciendo:Reuníos y venid contra élb,y levantaos para la guerrac.15 Pues he aquí, pequeño te he hecho entre las naciones,menospreciado entre los hombres.16 En cuanto al terror que infundías1,te ha engañado la soberbia de tu corazón;tú que vives en las hendiduras de las peñas2,que ocupas la cumbre del monte.Aunque hagas tu nidoa tan alto como el del águilab,de allí te haré bajar—declara el SEÑORc.

17 Y Edom se convertirá en objeto de horror; todo el que pase por él se quedará atónito y silbaráa a causa de todas sus heridasb. 18 Como en la destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra y de sus ciudades vecinas—dice el SEÑOR—nadie habitará allí, ni residirá en él hijo de hombrea. 19 He aquí que uno subirá como león de la espesura1 del Jordána contra el pastizal de perenne verdor2, y3 en un instante lo haré huir de él, y al que sea escogido nombraré sobre élb. Porque ¿quién es como yoc y quién me citará a juicio? ¿Quién es el pastor que me podrá resistird?

20 Por tanto, oíd el plan que el SEÑOR ha trazado contra Edom, y los designios que ha decretado contra los habitantes de Temán: ciertamente los arrastrarán, aun a los más pequeños del rebañoa; ciertamente a causa de ellos hará una desolación de su pastizal1b. 21 Al estruendo de su caída tiembla la tierra; hay un clamor. Hasta el mara Rojo1 se oye su voz. 22 He aquí, se remonta, vuela veloz como un águila y extiende sus alas contra1a Bosra. En aquel día el corazón de los valientes de Edom será como el corazón de una mujer de partob.

Profecía sobre Damasco

23 Acerca de Damascoa.Avergonzadas están Hamat y Arfadb.Porque han oído malas noticiascestán desalentadas.Hay ansiedadd como en el marque no se puede calmare.

24 Desamparada está Damasco;se ha vuelto para huir,y el pánico se ha apoderado de ella;angustia y dolores la oprimencomo a mujer de partoa.25 ¿Cómo es que no ha sido abandonada la ciudad alabada,la ciudad de mi regocijoa?26 Por eso sus jóvenes caerán en sus calles,y todos los hombres de guerra seránsilenciados1 en aquel día—declara el SEÑOR de los ejércitosa.27 Y prenderé fuego al muro de Damascoque consumirá los palacios1 de Ben-adada.

28 Acerca de Cedar y de los reinos de Hazor, que derrotó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia. Así dice el SEÑOR:Levantaos, subid a Cedary destruid a los hijosa del orienteb.

29 Sus tiendasa y sus rebaños serán tomados;las cortinas de sus tiendas, todos sus bienes y sus camellos se los llevaránb,y gritarán el uno al otro: «¡Terror por todas partesc!».30 Escapaos, huid; morad en las profundidades,habitantes de Hazor—declara el SEÑOR—,porque Nabucodonosor, rey de Babiloniaa, ha concebido un plan contra vosotros,ha trazado un designio contra vosotros.31 Levantaos, subid contra una nación tranquila,que vive confiadaa—declara el SEÑOR.No tiene puertas ni cerrojos;viven solitariosb.32 Sus camellos serán el despojo,y la multitud de sus ganados el botín;esparciré a todos los vientosa a los que se rapan las sienes,y de todos lados les traeré su ruinab—declara el SEÑOR.33 Y Hazor será guarida de chacales,una desolación para siempre;nadie habitará allí,ni residirá en ella hijo de hombrea.

34 Palabra del SEÑOR que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de Elama al comienzo del reinado de Sedequías, rey de Judá, diciendob: 35 Así dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos:«He aquí, quebraré el arco de Elama,lo mejor1 de su fortaleza.

36 »Y traeré sobre Elam los cuatro vientosdesde los cuatro extremos del cieloa,y a todos estos vientos los esparciré;no habrá naciónbadonde no vayan los expulsados de Elam.37 »Destrozaré1 a Elam delante de sus enemigosy delante de los que buscan sus vidas;traeré sobre ellos calamidada,el ardor de mi irab»—declara el SEÑOR—«y enviaré tras ellos la espadahasta que los haya acabadoc.38 »Entonces pondré mi trono en Elam,y allí destruiré al rey y a los príncipes»—declara el SEÑOR.39 «Pero sucederá en los postreros díasque restauraré el bienestar1 de Elam»—declara el SEÑORa.

Concerning the 1asons (descendants) of Ammon.Thus says the LORD:“Does Israel have no sons to reclaim Gad from the Ammonites?Has he no heir?Why then has 2Malcam taken possession of GadAnd why do his people live in the cities of Gad?

2 “Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD,“When I will cause an aalarm of war to be heardAgainst bRabbah of the Ammonites;And it along with the high ground on which it stands will become a desolate heap,And its cvillages will be set on fire.Then will Israel dtake possession of his possessors,”Says the LORD. Ezek 21:28-32; 25:1-7, 11; Amos 1:13-15; Zeph 2:8-113 “Wail, O 1aHeshbon, for bAi in Ammon has been destroyed!Cry out, O daughters of Rabbah!cWrap yourselves with sackcloth and lament (cry out in grief) ,And rush back and forth inside the enclosures;For Malcam your powerless god will dgo into exileTogether with his priests and his princes.4 “Why do you aboast of your valleys?Your valley is flowing away,O Ammon brebellious and faithless daughterWho trusts in her ctreasures, saying,‘dWho will come against me?’5 “Behold, I am going to bring aterror on you,”Says the Lord GOD of hosts,“From all who are around you;And each of you will be bdriven out headlong,And there will be no one to gather the cfugitives together.6 “But 1afterward I will areverseThe captivity of the children of Ammon and restore their fortunes,”Says the LORD.

7 Concerning aEdom.Thus says the LORD of hosts,“Is there no longer any bwisdom in 1cTeman?Has good counsel vanished from the intelligent and prudent?Has their wisdom decayed? Is 34; 63:1-6; Ezek 25:12-14; 35; Amos 1:11, 12; Obad 1-16; Mal 1:2-58 “Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths of the desert to escape the judgment of Edom,O inhabitants of 1aDedan,For I will bring the bdestruction of 2Esau (Edom) upon himWhen I inspect and punish him.9 “aIf grape gatherers came to you,Would they not leave some ungleaned grapes on the vines?If thieves came by night,Would they not destroy only what is enough for them?10 “But I have astripped Esau (Edom) bare;I have uncovered his hiding placesAnd he cannot hide himself.His descendants have been destroyed along with his brothers (relatives) and his neighbors;And bhe is no more.11 “Leave your aorphans behind; I will do what is needed to keep them alive.And let those who are your bwidows trust and confide in Me.”

12 For thus says the LORD, “Behold, those (Israel) who were not sentenced to drink the acup of wrath shall certainly drink it, and are you to bremain unpunished? You will not be acquitted and go unpunished, but you will certainly drink from the cup of wrath and judgment. Jer 25:28, 29 13 For I have asworn an oath by Myself,” says the LORD, “that 1bBozrah will become an object of chorror, a reproach, a ruin, and a curse; and all its cities will become 2perpetual ruins.”

14 I have aheard a report from the LORD,And a bmessenger has been sent to the nations, saying,“cGather together and come against her,And rise up for the battle.”15 “For behold, Edom I have made you small among the nationsAnd despised among men. Ezek 35:916 “As for Your terror,The pride and arrogance of your heart have deceived you,O you who live in the clefts of the arock (Sela also called 1Petra) ,Who hold and occupy the height of the hill.Though you make your nest as bhigh as the eagle’s,I will cbring you down from there,” says the LORD.

17 “Edom will become an aobject of horror; everyone who goes by it will be astonished and shall bhiss scornfully at all its plagues and disasters. 18 As it was in the aoverthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with their neighboring cities,” says the LORD, “bno man will live there, nor will a son of man dwell in it. 19 aSee, one will come like a lion from the bthicket of the Jordan against the enduring habitation of Edom and its watered pastures; for in an instant I will make 1him (Edom) run from his land. I will appoint over him the one whom I cchoose. For who is dlike Me, and who will summon Me into court and prosecute Me for this? Who is the earthly shepherd who ecan stand defiantly before Me?”

20 Therefore hear the aplan of the LORD which He has devised against Edom, and hear what He has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: surely they will be dragged away, even the little ones of the flock; surely He will make their dwelling place bdesolate because of them. 21 The aearth has quaked at the noise of their downfall. There is an outcry! The sound of its noise has been heard at the Red Sea. 22 Behold, He will mount up and afly swiftly like an eagle and spread His wings against the city of Bozrah; and in that day the bheart of the mighty warriors of Edom will be like the heart of a woman in childbirth. Jer 48:41

Prophecy against Damascus
23 Concerning aDamascus in Syria.“bHamath and cArpad are perplexed and shamed,For they have heard bad news;They are ddisheartened;Troubled and anxious like a storm-tossed seaWhich ecannot be calmed.24 “Damascus has become helpless;She has turned away to flee,Terror (panic) has seized her;aAnguish and distress have gripped herLike a woman in childbirth.25 “Why has the renowned acity not been deserted,The city of My joy!26 “Therefore, her ayoung men will fall in her streets,And all her men of war will be destroyed in that day,” says the LORD of hosts. Is 17:1-3; Amos 1:3-5; Zech 9:127 “I will aset fire to the wall of Damascus,And it will consume the palaces of 1bBen-hadad.”
Prophecy against Kedar and Hazor

28 Concerning 1aKedar and concerning the kingdoms of 2Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated. Thus says the LORD,“Arise, go up against KedarAnd destroy the bmen of the east.

29 “They (the Babylonians) will take away their tents and their flocks;They will carry off for themselvesTheir tent acurtains, all their goods and their bcamels,And they will call out to one another, ‘cTerror on every side!’ Ps 31:13; Jer 6:25; 20:3, 10; 46:530 “Flee, run far away! Dwell in the depths of the desert,O inhabitants of Hazor,” says the LORD,“For aNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has planned a course of action against youAnd devised a scheme against you.31 “Arise Nebuchadnezzar, go up against a nation which is aat ease,Which lives securely,” says the LORD,“A nation which has bneither gates nor bars;They cdwell apart and alone.32 “Their camels will become plunder,And their herds of cattle a spoil;And I will ascatter to all the four winds those who bcut the corners of their hair as evidence of their idolatry,And I will bring their disaster from every side,” says the LORD. Lev 19:2733 “Hazor will become a ahaunt and dwelling place of jackals,A desolation forever;No one will live there,Nor will a son of man reside in it.”
Prophecy against Elam

34 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning 1aElam, bin the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying:

35 “Thus says the LORD of hosts,‘Behold (listen carefully) , I am going to abreak the bow of Elam,The finest weapon of their strength.36 ‘And I will bring upon Elam the afour windsFrom the four corners of heaven;And I will bscatter them toward all those winds,And there will be no nationTo which the outcasts of Elam will not go.37 ‘So I will cause Elam to be shattered (dismayed) before their enemiesAnd before those who seek their lives;And I will abring disaster on them,Even My bfierce anger,’ says the LORD.‘And I will csend the sword after themUntil I have consumed them.38 ‘Then I will set My throne of judgment in 1ElamAnd I will destroy from there the king and princes,’Says the LORD. Neh 1:1; Esth 1:2; Dan 8:1, 239 ‘But it will be in the last days (the end of days)That I will areverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Elam,’”Says the LORD.

14 I have aheard a message from the LORD,And an benvoy is sent among the nations, saying,“cGather yourselves together and come against her,And rise up for battle!”15 “For behold, I have made you small among the nations,Despised among men.16 “As for the terror of you,The arrogance of your heart has deceived you,O you who live in the clefts of 1the arock,Who occupy the height of the hill.Though you make your nest as bhigh as an eagle’s,I will cbring you down from there,” declares the LORD.

17 “Edom will become an aobject of horror; everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will bhiss at all its wounds. 18 Like the aoverthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with its neighbors,” says the LORD, “bno one will live there, nor will a son of man reside in it. 19 aBehold, one will come up like a lion from the 1bthickets of the Jordan against 2a perennially watered pasture; for in an instant I will make him run away from it, and whoever is cchosen I shall appoint over it. For who is dlike Me, and who will summon Me into court? And who then is the shepherd ewho can stand against Me?”

20 Therefore hear the aplan of the LORD which He has planned against Edom, and His purposes which He has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: surely they will drag them off, even the little ones of the flock; surely He will make their 1pasture bdesolate because of them. 21 The aearth has quaked at the noise of their downfall. There is an outcry! The noise of it has been heard at the 1Red Sea. 22 Behold, 1He will mount up and aswoop like an eagle and spread out His wings 2against Bozrah; and the bhearts of the mighty men of Edom in that day will be like the heart of a woman in labor.

28 Concerning aKedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated. Thus says the LORD,“Arise, go up to KedarAnd devastate the 1bmen of the east.
