Castigo por la infidelidad de Israel

No te alegres, Israel, con¹ gran júbilo^a como las naciones²,porque te has prostituido, abandonando a³ tu Dios^b;has amado el salario de ramera sobre todas las eras de grano.2 Ni la era ni el lagar los alimentarán^a,y el mosto les¹ faltará.3 No permanecerán en la tierra del SEÑOR^a,sino que Efraín volverá a Egipto^b,y en Asiria^c comerán cosas inmundas^d.4 No harán libaciones de vino al SEÑOR^a,ni le serán gratos sus sacrificios^b.Su pan les será como pan de duelo¹,todos los que lo coman se contaminarán^c,porque su pan serásolo para ellos²,no entrará en la casa del SEÑOR.5 ¿Qué haréis el día de la fiesta señalada^ay el día de la fiesta del SEÑOR^b?6 Pues, he aquí, se irán a causa de la destrucción;Egipto los recogerá, Menfis los sepultará^a.La ortiga¹ poseerá sus tesoros de plata;cardos crecerán en sus tiendas^b.

7 Han llegado los días del castigo^a,han llegado los días de la retribución^b;¡que lo sepa Israel¹!Un insensato es el profeta^c,un loco el hombre inspirado²^d,a causa de la magnitud de tu culpa^e,y por tu mucha hostilidad.8 Vigía con mi Dios era Efraín, un profeta;sin embargo el lazo de cazador¹ está en todos sus caminos,y en la casa de su Dios haysolo hostilidad.9 Se han corrompido profundamente¹^acomo en los días de Guibeá^b;Él se acordará de su iniquidad^c,castigará sus pecados.

10 Como uvas en el desierto^a hallé a Israel;como las primicias de la higuera en su primera cosecha¹^b vi a vuestros padres.Pero fueron a Baal-peor^c y se consagraron a la vergüenza²^d,y se hicieron tan abominables como lo que amaban^e.11 Como un ave volará de Efraín su gloria^a:no habrá nacimiento, ni embarazo, ni concepción.12 Aunque críen a sus hijos,se los quitaré hasta que no quede hombre alguno¹.Sí, ¡ay de ellos también cuando de ellos me aparte^a!13 Efraín, según he visto,está como Tiro^a, plantado en pradera hermosa;pero Efraín sacará a sus hijos al verdugo.14 Dales, oh SEÑOR, ¿qué les darás?Dales matriz que aborte^a y pechos secos.

15 Toda su maldad está en Gilgal^a;allí, pues, los aborrecí.Por la maldad de sus hechos^blos expulsaré de mi casa,no los amaré más;todos sus príncipes son rebeldes^c.16 Efraín está herido, su raíz está seca^a;no darán más fruto^b.Aunque den a luz,yo mataré el fruto¹ de su vientre^c.17 Mi Dios los desecharáporque no le han escuchado^a,y andarán errantes entre las naciones^b.

Ephraim Punished

^aDo not rejoice, O Israel, with exultation as do the pagan peoples,For you have ^bplayed the prostitute, turning away from your God.You have loved prostitutes’ earnings on every threshing floor attributing the harvest to the Baals instead of to God.2 The threshing floor and the wine press will ^ano longer feed them,And the new wine will fail them because they failed to honor the God who provides.3 They will not remain in ^athe land of the LORD,But Ephraim will return to another ^bEgypt in bondageAnd they will eat ceremonially ^cunclean food in ^dAssyria. 2+@Kin 25:26; Ezek 4:134 They will not pour out drink offerings of ^awine to the LORD;^bTheir sacrifices will not please Him.Their bread will be like mourners’ bread eaten at funerals;All who eat it will be ceremonially ^cunclean,For their bread will be for themselves;It will not enter the house of the LORD to be consecrated.5 ^aWhat will you do on the day of the appointed festivalAnd on the day of the ^bfeast of the LORD when you are in exile?6 For behold, they will go away because of devastation and destruction;Egypt will gather them up, ^aMemphis will bury them.Weeds will take over their treasures of silver;^bThorns will grow in their tents.

7 The days of ^apunishment have come;The days of ^bretribution are at hand;Let Israel know this!The prophet is considered a ^cfool;The man of God who is inspired is treated as if ^ddemented,Because of the abundance of your ^ewickedness and guilt,And because your deep antagonism toward God and the prophets is so great. Luke 21:228 Ephraim was a watchman with my God, a true prophet to warn the nation;But the snare of a bird catcher was laid in all his paths.And there is only deep hostility in the house of his God (the land of Israel) .9 They have ^adeeply corrupted (perverted) themselvesAs in the days of ^bGibeah.The LORD will ^cremember their wickedness and guilt;He will punish their sins. 10 I found Israel like ^agrapes in the wilderness an unexpected and refreshing delight;I saw your fathers (ancestors) as the ^bfirst ripe fruit on the fig tree in its first season,But they came to ^cBaal-peor and consecrated themselves to ^dshamefulness the worship of Baal,And because of their spiritual and physical adultery they became as ^edetestable and loathsome as the thing they loved.11 As for Ephraim, their ^aglory will fly away like a bird;No birth, no pregnancy, and because of their impurity no conception.12 Even though they bring up their children,Yet I will bereave them until not one is left.^aIndeed, woe (judgment is coming) to them when I look away and withdraw My blessing from them!13 Ephraim, as I have seen,Is planted in a pleasant and prosperous meadow like ^aTyre;But Ephraim will bring out his children to the executioner for slaughter.14 Give them the punishment they deserve, O LORD! What will You give?Give them a ^amiscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15 All their wickedness says the LORD is focused in ^aGilgal;Indeed, I came to hate them there!Because of the ^bwickedness of their idolatrous practicesI will drive them out of My house (the land of Israel) !I will love them no longer;All their princes are ^crebels. Hos 4:15; 12:1116 ^aEphraim is stricken, their root is dried up,They will bear ^bno fruit.Even though they give birth,I will slay the ^cprecious children of their womb.17 My God will reject them and cast them awayBecause they did ^anot listen to Him;And they will be ^bwanderers (fugitives) among the nations.

Ephraim Punished

10 I found Israel like ^agrapes in the wilderness;I saw your forefathers as the ^bearliest fruit on the fig tree in its first season.But they came to ^cBaal-peor and devoted themselves to ¹^dshame,And they became as ^edetestable as that which they loved.11 As for Ephraim, their ^aglory will fly away like a bird—No birth, no pregnancy and no conception!12 Though they bring up their children,Yet I will bereave them ¹until not a man is left.Yes, ^awoe to them indeed when I depart from them!13 Ephraim, as I have seen,Is planted in a pleasant meadow like ^aTyre;But Ephraim will bring out his children for slaughter.14 Give them, O LORD—what will You give?Give them a ^amiscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15 All their evil is at ^aGilgal;Indeed, I came to hate them there!Because of the ^bwickedness of their deedsI will drive them out of My house!I will love them no more;All their princes are ^crebels.16 ^aEphraim is stricken, their root is dried up,They will bear ^bno fruit.Even though they bear children,I will slay the ^cprecious ones of their womb.17 My God will cast them awayBecause they have ^anot listened to Him;And they will be ^bwanderers among the nations.
