^aVolvimos, pues, y subimos por el camino de Basán, y Og, rey de Basán, nos salió al encuentro con¹ todo su pueblo para pelear en Edrei. 2 Pero el SEÑOR me dijo: «No le tengas miedo, porque en tu mano yo lo he entregado a él, y a todo su pueblo y su tierra; y harás con él tal como hiciste con Sehón, rey de los amorreos, que habitaba en Hesbón». 3 Así que el SEÑOR nuestro Dios entregó también a Og, rey de Basán, con todo su pueblo en nuestra mano, y los¹ herimos hasta que no quedaron sobrevivientes². 4 Y tomamos en aquel entonces todas sus ciudades; no quedó ciudad que no les tomáramos: sesenta ciudades, toda la región de Argob, el reino de Og en Basán^a. 5 Todasestas eran ciudades fortificadas con altas murallas, puertas y barras, aparte de muchos otros pueblos sin murallas. 6 Las destruimos totalmente¹, como hicimos con Sehón, rey de Hesbón^a, exterminando² a todos los hombres, mujeres y niños de cada ciudad^3b; 7 pero tomamos como nuestro botín todos los animales y los despojos de las ciudades^a. 8 Así tomamos entonces la tierra de mano de los dos reyes de los amorreos que estaban del otro lado del Jordán, desde el valle¹ del Arnón hasta el monte Hermón^a 9 (los sidonios llaman a Hermón^a, Sirión^b, y los amorreos lo llaman Senir^c): 10 todas las ciudades de la meseta, todo Galaad y todo Basán^a, hasta Salca y Edrei, ciudades del reino de Og en Basán. 11 (Porquesolo Og, rey de Basán, quedaba de los gigantes^1a. Su² cama era una cama de hierro; está en Rabá^b de los hijos de Amón. Tenía nueve codos³ de largo y cuatro codos de ancho, según el codo de un hombre.)

12 Tomamos posesión, pues, de esta tierra en aquel tiempo. Desde Aroer, que está en el valle¹ del Arnón^a, y la mitad de la región montañosa de Galaad y sus ciudades, se la di a los rubenitas y a los gaditas^b. 13 Y el resto de Galaad y todo Basán, el reino de Og, toda la región de Argob, se la di a la media tribu de Manasés. (En cuanto a todo Basán, se le llama la tierra de los gigantes¹. 14 Jair, hijo de Manasés, tomó toda la región de Argob hasta la frontera con Gesur y Maaca, y la¹ llamó, es decir a Basán, según su propio nombre, Havot-jair^2a, como se llama hasta hoy.) 15 Y a Maquir le di Galaad^a. 16 A los rubenitas y a los gaditas les di desde Galaad hasta el valle¹ del Arnón, el medio del valle² como³ frontera, hasta el arroyo Jaboc, frontera de los hijos de Amón^a; 17 también el Arabá, con el Jordán como¹ frontera, desde el Cineret^2a hasta el mar del Arabá, el mar Salado^b, al pie³ de las laderas del Pisga^c al oriente.

18 ^aY en aquel tiempo yo os ordené, diciendo: «El SEÑOR vuestro Dios os ha dado esta tierra para poseerla; todos vosotros, hombres valientes, cruzaréis armados delante de vuestros hermanos, los hijos de Israel^b. 19 Pero vuestras mujeres^a, vuestros pequeños y vuestro ganado (yo sé que tenéis mucho ganado^b), permanecerán en las ciudades que os he dado, 20 hasta que el SEÑOR dé reposo a vuestros compatriotas como a vosotros, y posean ellos también la tierra que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios les dará al otro lado del Jordán^a. Entonces podréis volver cada hombre a la posesión que os he dado^b». 21 Y ordené a Josué en aquel tiempo, diciendo: «Tus ojos han visto todo lo que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios ha hecho a estos dos reyes; así hará el SEÑOR a todos los reinos por los cuales vas a pasar. 22 No les temáis, porque el SEÑOR vuestro Dios es el que pelea por vosotros^a».

23 Yo también supliqué al SEÑOR en aquel tiempo, diciendo: 24 «Oh Señor DIOS¹, tú has comenzado a mostrar a tu siervo tu grandeza y tu mano poderosa^a; porque ¿qué dios hay en los cielos o en la tierra que pueda hacer obras y hechos tan poderosos como los tuyos^b? 25 Permíteme, te suplico, cruzar y ver la buena tierra^a que está al otro lado del Jordán, aquella¹ buena región montañosa y el Líbano». 26 Pero el SEÑOR se enojó conmigo a causa de vosotros^a, y no me escuchó; y el SEÑOR me dijo: «¡Basta!¹ No me hables más de esto. 27 Sube a la cumbre del Pisga^a y alza tus ojos al occidente, al norte, al sur y al oriente, y mírala con tus propios ojos, porque tú no cruzarás este Jordán^b. 28 Pero encarga a Josué, y anímale y fortalécele^a, porque él pasará a la cabeza¹ de este pueblo, y él les dará por heredad la tierra que tú verás^b». 29 Y nos quedamos en el valle frente a Bet-peor^a.

“^aThen we turned and went up the road toward Bashan, and at Edrei, Og king of Bashan, with all his people came out to meet us in battle. 2 And the LORD said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have handed him over to you, him and all his people and his land; and you shall do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’ 3 So the LORD our God also handed over Og king of Bashan, and all his people, into our hand and we struck him until no survivor was left. 4 We captured all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, the whole region of ^aArgob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 5 All these cities were fortified and unassailable with their high walls, gates, and bars; in addition, there were a very great number of unwalled villages. 6 We utterly destroyed them, just as we did to ^aSihon king of Heshbon, ^butterly destroying every city—the men, women, and children. 7 ^aBut we took all the cattle and the spoil of the cities as plunder for ourselves.

8 “^aSo we took the land at that time from the hand of the two kings Sihon and Og of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon 9 (the Sidonians ^acall Hermon ^bSirion, and the Amorites call it ^cSenir): 10 all the cities of the plain and all Gilead and ^aall Bashan, as far as Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.” 11 (For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the giants known as the ^aRephaim. Behold, his bed frame was a bed frame of iron; is it not in ^1bRabbah of the Ammonites? It was nine cubits (12 ft.) long and four cubits (6 ft.) wide, using the cubit of a man the forearm to the end of the middle finger.)

12 “So we took possession of this land at that time. I gave the territory from ^aAroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, along with half of the hill country of ^bGilead and its cities to the Reubenites and to the Gadites. 13 The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh, that is, all the region of Argob (concerning all Bashan, it is called the land of Rephaim. 14 ^aJair the son (descendant) of Manasseh took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, that is Bashan, and called it after his own name, Havvoth (the villages of) Jair, as it is called to this day.) 15 I gave Gilead ^ato Machir of Manasseh. 16 To the Reubenites and Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the Valley of Arnon, with the middle of the Valley as a boundary, and as far as the ^aJabbok River, the boundary of the sons of Ammon; 17 the Arabah also, with the Jordan as its boundary, from ^aChinnereth (the Sea of Galilee) ^bas far as the sea of the Arabah, ^cthe Salt Sea (Dead Sea) , at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.

18 “Then I commanded you Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh at that time, saying, ‘^aThe LORD your God has given you this land to possess; ^ball you who are brave men shall cross over the Jordan armed before your brothers, the sons of Israel. 19 ^aBut your wives and your children and your cattle—I know that you have ^bmuch livestock—shall remain in your cities which I have given you, 20 ^auntil the LORD gives rest to your fellow countrymen as He has to you, and they also possess the land which the LORD your God has given them beyond the Jordan. ^bThen each of you may return to the land (possession) which I have given to you.’ 21 I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen everything that the LORD your God has done to these two kings Sihon and Og; so the LORD shall do the same to all the kingdoms into which you are about to cross. 22 Do not fear them, for it is the LORD your God ^awho is fighting for you.’

23 “Then I pleaded with the LORD at that time for His favor, saying, 24 ‘O Lord GOD, You have only begun to show Your servant ^aYour greatness and Your mighty hand; for what ^bgod is there in heaven or on earth that can do such works and mighty acts (miracles) as Yours? 25 I pray, let me go over and see the ^agood land that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country with Hermon and Lebanon.’ 26 But ^athe LORD was angry with me because of you and your rebellion at Meribah, and would not listen to me; and the LORD said to me, ‘Enough! Speak to Me no longer about this matter. Num 20:8 27 Go up to the top of Mount ^aPisgah and raise your eyes toward the west and north and south and east, and see it with your eyes, ^bfor you shall not cross this Jordan. 28 ^aBut command Joshua and encourage and strengthen him, ^bfor he shall go across and lead this people, and he will give them the land which you see as an inheritance.’ 29 So we stayed in the Valley opposite ^aBeth-peor.

18 “Then I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘^aThe LORD your God has given you this land to possess it; ^ball you valiant men shall cross over armed before your brothers, the sons of Israel. 19 ^aBut your wives and your little ones and your livestock (I know that you have ^bmuch livestock) shall remain in your cities which I have given you, 20 ^auntil the LORD gives rest to your fellow countrymen as to you, and they also possess the land which the LORD your God will give them beyond the Jordan. ^bThen you may return every man to his possession which I have given you.’ 21 I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings; so the LORD shall do to all the kingdoms into which you are about to cross. 22 Do not fear them, for the LORD your God ^ais the one fighting for you.’

23 “I also pleaded with the LORD at that time, saying, 24 ‘O Lord ¹GOD, You have begun to show Your servant ^aYour greatness and Your strong hand; for what ^bgod is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours? 25 Let me, I pray, cross over and see the ^afair land that is beyond the Jordan, ¹that good hill country and Lebanon.’ 26 But ^athe LORD was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me; and the LORD said to me, ‘¹Enough! Speak to Me no more of this matter. 27 Go up to the top of ^aPisgah and lift up your eyes to the west and north and south and east, and see it with your eyes, ^bfor you shall not cross over this Jordan. 28 ^aBut charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, ^bfor he shall go across ¹at the head of this people, and he will give them as an inheritance the land which you will see.’ 29 So we remained in the valley opposite ^aBeth-peor.
