Y el profeta Eliseo llamó a uno de los hijos de los profetas^a, y le dijo: Ciñe tus lomos y toma este frasco de aceite^b en tu mano^c y ve a Ramot de Galaad^d. 2 Cuando llegues allá, busca¹ a Jehú^a, hijo de Josafat, hijo de Nimsi^b. Entra y haz que se levante de entre sus hermanos, y llévalo a un aposento interior². 3 Entonces toma el frasco de aceite, derrámalo sobre su cabeza, y di: «Así dice el SEÑOR: “Yo te he ungido^a rey sobre Israel”». Abre luego la puerta y huye, no esperes. 4 Y el joven, el siervo del profeta, fue a Ramot de Galaad^a. 5 Cuando llegó, he aquí, los capitanes del ejército estaban sentados, y él dijo: Capitán, tengo un mensaje¹ para ti. Y Jehú dijo: ¿Para cuál de² nosotros? Y él dijo: Para ti, capitán. 6 Entonces él se levantó y entró en la casa, y el joven derramó el aceite sobre su cabeza y le dijo: Así dice el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: «Yo te he ungido rey sobre el pueblo del SEÑOR, sobre Israel^a. 7 Tú herirás la casa de Acab tu señor, para que yo vengue la sangre de mis siervos^a los profetas^b, y la sangre de todos los siervos del SEÑOR derramada por mano de Jezabel^c. 8 Y toda la casa de Acab perecerá, y cortaré de Acab todo varón^a, tanto siervo como libre en Israel^b. 9 Yo pondré la casa de Acab como la casa de Jeroboam^a, hijo de Nabat, y como la casa de Baasa^b, hijo de Ahías. 10 Y los perros se comerán a Jezabel en el campo¹ de Jezreel, y nadie la sepultará^a». Entonces abrió la puerta y huyó.

11 Entonces Jehú salió a los siervos de su señor, y uno le dijo: ¿Va todo bien^a? ¿Por qué vino a ti este loco^b? Y él les dijo: Vosotros conocéis bien al hombre y sus palabras. 12 Y ellos dijeron: Mentira; cuéntanos ahora. Y él dijo: Así y así me habló, diciendo: «Así dice el SEÑOR: “Yo te he ungido rey sobre Israel”». 13 Entonces se apresuraron y cada uno tomó su manto y lo puso bajo Jehú¹ sobre las gradas desnudas^a, y tocaron la trompeta y dijeron: Jehú es rey^b.

14 Y Jehú, hijo de Josafat, hijo de Nimsi, conspiró contra Joram. Y estaba Joram con¹ todo Israel, defendiendo² a Ramot de Galaad contra Hazael, rey de Aram^a, 15 pero el rey Joram¹ había regresado a Jezreel para ser curado de las heridas que los arameos le habían hecho² cuando peleó contra Hazael, rey de Aram. Y Jehú dijo: Si es vuestro deseo, que nadie se escape ni salga de la ciudad para ir a anunciarlo en Jezreel^a. 16 Entonces Jehú montó en un carro y fue a Jezreel, porque Joram estaba allí en cama. Y Ocozías, rey de Judá, había descendido para ver a Joram^a.

17 Y el centinela que estaba en la torre de Jezreel vio la comitiva¹ de Jehú que venía, y dijo: Veo una comitiva². Y Joram dijo: Toma un jinete y envíalo a su encuentro, y que diga: «¿Hay paz?». 18 Fue el jinete a su encuentro, y dijo: Así dice el rey: «¿Hay paz?». Y Jehú dijo: ¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Ven¹ en pos de mí^a. Y el centinela avisó, diciendo: El mensajero llegó hasta ellos, pero no regresó. 19 Entonces envió un segundo jinete, que vino a ellos, y dijo: Así dice el rey: «¿Hay paz?». Y Jehú respondió: ¿Qué tienes tú que ver con la paz? Ven¹ en pos de mí. 20 Y avisó el centinela, diciendo^a: Él llegó hasta ellos, y no regresó; y el modo de guiar es como el guiar de Jehú, hijo de Nimsi, porque guía alocadamente^b.

21 Entonces Joram^a dijo: Preparad¹ el carro. Y prepararon su carro. Y salieron Joram, rey de Israel, y Ocozías, rey de Judá, cada uno en su carro, y fueron al encuentro de Jehú, y lo hallaron en el campo² de Nabot de Jezreel^b. 22 Y sucedió que cuando Joram vio a Jehú, dijo: ¿Hay paz, Jehú? Y él respondió: ¿Qué paz, mientras sean tantas las prostituciones de tu madre Jezabel^a y sus hechicerías? 23 Entonces Joram volvió las riendas¹ y huyó, y dijo a Ocozías: ¡Traición^a, Ocozías! 24 Y Jehú entesó su arco con toda su fuerza¹ e hirió a Joram en la espalda^2a; y la saeta salió por su corazón y se desplomó en su carro. 25 Entonces Jehú dijo a su oficial Bidcar: Tómalo y tíralo en la porción del campo de Nabot de Jezreel^a, pues recuerdo cuando tú y yo¹ íbamos juntos montados detrás de su padre Acab^b, que el SEÑOR pronunció esta sentencia contra él^c: 26 «Ayer ciertamente he visto la sangre de Nabot^a y la sangre de sus hijos», declaró el SEÑOR, «y te recompensaré en este campo^1b», declaró el SEÑOR. Ahora pues, tómalo y tíralo en el campo², conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR.

27 Cuando Ocozías, rey de Judá, vio esto, huyó por el camino de la casa del huerto^a. Y Jehú lo persiguió y dijo: Matadlo¹ a él también en el carro. Y lo hirieron a la subida de Gur, que está en Ibleam. Y huyó a Meguido^b, y murió allí. 28 Entonces sus siervos lo llevaron en carro a Jerusalén, y lo sepultaron en su sepulcro^a con sus padres en la ciudad de David.

29 En el año once de Joram, hijo de Acab, Ocozías había comenzado a reinar sobre Judá^a.

30 Y llegó Jehú a Jezreel, y cuando Jezabel lo oyó, se pintó los ojos, adornó^a su cabeza y se asomó por la ventana. 31 Y cuando entraba Jehú por la puerta, ella dijo: ¿Le va bien a¹ Zimri, asesino de tu² señor^a? 32 Entonces él alzó su rostro hacia la ventana y dijo: ¿Quién está conmigo? ¿Quién? Y dos o tres oficiales se asomaron desde arriba¹. 33 Y él dijo: Echadla abajo. Y la echaron abajo y parte de su sangre salpicó la pared y los caballos, y él la pisoteó. 34 Cuando él entró, comió y bebió; entonces dijo: Encargaos ahora de esta maldita^a y enterradla, pues es hija de rey^b. 35 Y fueron para enterrarla, pero de ella no encontraron más que el cráneo, los pies y las palmas de sus manos. 36 Entonces, volvieron y se lo hicieron saber a Jehú. Y él dijo: Esta es la palabra que el SEÑOR había hablado por medio de su siervo Elías tisbita, diciendo: «En la parcela de Jezreel los perros comerán la carne de Jezabel^a; 37 y el cadáver de Jezabel será como estiércol sobre la superficie del campo^a en la parcela de Jezreel, para que no puedan decir: “Esta es Jezabel”».

Now Elisha the prophet called one of ^athe sons of the prophets and said to him, “^1bGird up your loins (prepare for action) , ^ctake this flask of oil in your hand and go to ^dRamoth-gilead. 2 When you arrive there, look for ^aJehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in and ^bhave him arise from among his brothers, and take him into an inner room. 3 Then take the flask of oil and pour it on his head and say, ‘Thus says the LORD: “^aI have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door and flee and do not delay.”

4 So ^athe young man, the servant of the prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead. 5 When he arrived, the captains of the army were sitting outside; and he said, “I have a message for you, O captain.” Jehu said, “To which one of us?” And he said, “For you, O captain.” 6 So Jehu got up, and they went into the house. And he poured the oil on Jehu’s head and said to him, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: ‘^aI have anointed you king over the people of the LORD, over Israel. 7 You shall strike the house of Ahab your master, so ^athat I may avenge ^bthe blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, who have died ^cat the hands of Jezebel. 8 For the entire house of Ahab shall perish, and ^aI will cut off from Ahab ^bevery male, ^cboth bond and free, in Israel. 9 ^aI will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and ^blike the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah. 1+@Kin 21:22 10 And ^athe dogs will eat Jezebel in the territory of Jezreel, and there will be no one to bury her.’” Then he opened the door and fled. 2+@Kin 9:33-37

11 When Jehu came out to the servants of his master, one said to him, “^aIs all well? Why did this ^bmadman come to you?” And he said to them, “You know very well the man and his talk.” 12 And they said, “It is a lie; tell us now.” And he said, “Thus and thus he spoke to me, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’” 13 Then ^athey hurried and each man took his garment and placed it as a cushion under Jehu on the top of the outside stairs, and ^bblew the trumpet, saying, “Jehu is king!”

14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram to dethrone and kill him. ^aNow Joram with all Israel was protecting Ramoth-gilead against Hazael king of Aram (Syria) , 15 but ^aKing ¹Joram had returned to Jezreel to heal from the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Aram. So Jehu said, “If this is your intent, let no one survive and leave the city (Ramoth-gilead) to go and tell of the plan in Jezreel the capital.” 16 So Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was lying there. And ^aAhaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.

17 Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel and he saw the crowd with Jehu as he approached, and said, “I see a company.” And ¹Joram said, “Send a horseman to meet them and have him ask, ‘²Do you come in peace?’” 18 So the horseman went to meet him and said, “Thus says the king: ‘Do you come in peace?’” And Jehu said, “^aWhat have you to do with peace? Rein in behind me.” And the watchman reported, “The messenger approached them, but he has not returned.” 19 Then Joram sent out a second horseman, who approached them and said, “Thus says the king: ‘Do you come in peace?’” Jehu replied, “What have you to do with peace? Rein in behind me.” 20 And the watchman reported, “He approached them, but he has not returned; and ^athe driving of the chariot is like that of ^bJehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.”

21 Then ¹Joram said, “Harness the chariot.” When they harnessed his chariot horses, ^aJoram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu and met him on the ^bproperty of Naboth the Jezreelite. 22 When Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?” And he answered, “What peace can exist ^aas long as the fornications of your mother Jezebel and her sorceries are so many?” 23 So Joram reined his chariot around and fled, and he said to Ahaziah, “^aTreachery and betrayal, Ahaziah!” 24 But ^aJehu drew his bow with his full strength and shot Joram between his shoulders; and the arrow went out through his heart and he sank down in his chariot. 25 Then Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “Pick him up and ^athrow him on the property of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for I remember when you and I were riding together after his father Ahab, that the ^bLORD uttered this ^cprophecy against him: 26 ‘^aI certainly saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons yesterday,’ says the LORD, ‘and ^bI will repay you on this property,’ says the LORD. Now then, pick him up and throw him into the property of Naboth, in accordance with the word of the LORD.” 1+@Kin 21:15-29

27 ^aWhen Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. Jehu pursued him and said, “Shoot him too, while he is in the chariot.” So they shot him at the ascent to Gur, which is by ^bIbleam. And Ahaziah fled to Megiddo and died there. 28 ^aThen his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in his grave with his fathers in the City of David.

29 In ^athe eleventh year of Joram, the son of Ahab, Ahaziah became king over Judah.

30 So when Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard about it, and ^ashe painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked down from the upper window. 31 As Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, “Is it ^awell, ¹Zimri, your master’s murderer?” 1+@Kin 16:9, 10 32 Then Jehu raised his face toward the window and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” And two or three officials looked down at him.

33 And he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses, and he trampled her underfoot. 34 When he came in, he ate and drank, and said, “See now to ^athis cursed woman and bury her, for ^bshe is a king’s daughter.” 35 They went to bury her, but they found nothing left of her except the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. 36 So they returned and told Jehu. Then he said, “This is the word of the LORD, which He spoke through His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘^aIn the property of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel. 1+@Kin 21:23 37 ^aThe corpse of Jezebel will be like dung on the surface of the field in the property of Jezreel, so they cannot say, “This is Jezebel.”’”

Now Elisha the prophet called one of ^athe sons of the prophets and said to him, “^bGird up your loins, and ^ctake this flask of oil in your hand and go to ^dRamoth-gilead. 2 When you arrive there, ¹search out ^aJehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in and ^2bbid him arise from among his brothers, and bring him to an inner room. 3 Then take the flask of oil and pour it on his head and say, ‘Thus says the LORD, “^aI have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door and flee and do not wait.”

4 So ^athe young man, the servant of the prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead. 5 When he came, behold, the captains of the army were sitting, and he said, “I have a word for you, O captain.” And Jehu said, “¹For which one of us?” And he said, “For you, O captain.” 6 He arose and went into the house, and he poured the oil on his head and said to him, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘^aI have anointed you king over the people of the LORD, even over Israel. 7 You shall strike the house of Ahab your master, ^athat I may avenge ^bthe blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, ^cat the hand of Jezebel. 8 For the whole house of Ahab shall perish, and ^aI will cut off from Ahab ^bevery male person ^cboth bond and free in Israel. 9 ^aI will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and ^blike the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah. 10 ^aThe dogs shall eat Jezebel in the territory of Jezreel, and none shall bury her.’” Then he opened the door and fled.

11 Now Jehu came out to the servants of his master, and one said to him, “^aIs all well? Why did this ^bmad fellow come to you?” And he said to them, “You know very well the man and his talk.” 12 They said, “It is a lie, tell us now.” And he said, “Thus and thus he said to me, ‘Thus says the LORD, “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’” 13 Then ^athey hurried and each man took his garment and placed it under him on the bare steps, and ^bblew the trumpet, saying, “Jehu is king!”

14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. ^aNow Joram ¹with all Israel was ²defending Ramoth-gilead against Hazael king of Aram, 15 but ^aKing ¹Joram had returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had ²inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Aram. So Jehu said, “If this is your mind, then let no one escape or ³leave the city to go tell it in Jezreel.” 16 Then Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was lying there. ^aAhaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.

17 Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel and he saw the ¹company of Jehu as he came, and said, “I see a ²company.” And Joram said, “Take a horseman and send him to meet them and let him say, ‘Is it peace?’” 18 So a horseman went to meet him and said, “Thus says the king, ‘Is it peace?’” And Jehu said, “^aWhat have you to do with peace? Turn behind me.” And the watchman ¹reported, “The messenger came to them, but he did not return.” 19 Then he sent out a second horseman, who came to them and said, “Thus says the king, ‘Is it peace?’” And Jehu ¹answered, “What have you to do with peace? Turn behind me.” 20 The watchman ¹reported, “He came even to them, and he did not return; and ^athe driving is like the driving of ^bJehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.”

21 Then ¹Joram said, “²Get ready.” And they made his chariot ready. ^3aJoram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu and found him in the ^4bproperty of Naboth the Jezreelite. 22 When ¹Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Is it peace, Jehu?” And he ²answered, “What peace, ^aso long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?” 23 So ¹Joram ²reined about and fled and said to Ahaziah, “^aThere is treachery, O Ahaziah!” 24 And ^aJehu ¹drew his bow with his full strength and ²shot ³Joram between his arms; and the arrow went ⁴through his heart and he sank in his chariot. 25 Then Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “Take him up and ^acast him into the ¹property of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite, for I remember when ²you and I were riding together after Ahab his father, that the ^bLORD laid this ^coracle against him: 26 ‘Surely ^aI have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,’ says the LORD, ‘and ^bI will repay you in this ¹property,’ says the LORD. Now then, take and cast him into the ²property, according to the word of the LORD.”

27 ^aWhen Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. 33 He said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses, and he trampled her under foot. 34 When he came in, he ate and drank; and he said, “See now to ^athis cursed woman and bury her, for ^bshe is a king’s daughter.” 35 They went to bury her, but they found nothing more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. 36 Therefore they returned and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the LORD, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘^aIn the ¹property of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel; 37 and ^athe corpse of Jezebel will be as dung on the face of the field in the ¹property of Jezreel, so they cannot say, “This is Jezebel.”’”
