Sed imitadores de mí^a, como también yo lo soy de Cristo.

2 Os alabo^a porque en todo os acordáis de mí^b y guardáis las tradiciones con firmeza, tal como yo os las entregué^c. 3 Pero quiero que sepáis que la cabeza^a de todo hombre es Cristo¹, y la cabeza de la mujer es el hombre^b, y la cabeza de Cristo² es Dios^c. 4 Todo hombre que cubre su cabeza mientras ora o profetiza^a, deshonra su cabeza. 5 Pero toda mujer que tiene la cabeza descubierta mientras ora o profetiza^a, deshonra su cabeza; porque se hace una con la que está rapada^b. 6 Porque si la mujer no se cubre la cabeza, que también se corte el cabello; pero si es deshonroso para la mujer cortarse el cabello, o raparse, que se cubra. 7 Pues el hombre no debe cubrirse la cabeza, ya que él es la imagen y gloria de Dios^a; pero la mujer es la gloria del hombre. 8 Porque el hombre no procede¹ de la mujer, sino la mujer del hombre^a; 9 pues en verdad el hombre no fue creado a causa de la mujer, sino la mujer a causa del hombre^a. 10 Por tanto, la mujer debe tener un símbolo de autoridad sobre la cabeza, por causa de los ángeles. 11 Sin embargo, en el Señor, ni la mujer es independiente del¹ hombre, ni el hombre independiente de la² mujer. 12 Porque así como la mujer procede del hombre, también el hombre nace de la mujer; y todas las cosas proceden de Dios^a. 13 Juzgad^a vosotros mismos: ¿es propio que la mujer ore a Dios con la cabeza descubierta? 14 ¿No os enseña la misma naturaleza que si el hombre tiene el cabello largo le es deshonra, 15 pero que si la mujer tiene el cabello largo le es una gloria? Pues a ella el cabello le es dado por velo. 16 Pero si alguno parece ser contencioso, nosotros no tenemos tal costumbre^a, ni la tienen las iglesias de Dios^b.

17 Pero al daros estas instrucciones, no os alabo^a, porque no os congregáis para lo bueno¹, sino para lo malo². 18 Pues, en primer lugar, oigo que cuando os reunís como iglesia¹ hay divisiones^2a entre vosotros; y en parte lo creo. 19 Porque es necesario que entre vosotros haya bandos^a, a fin de que se manifiesten entre vosotros los que son aprobados^b. 20 Por tanto, cuando os reunís, esto ya no es comer la cena del Señor, 21 porque al comer, cada uno toma primero su propia cena; y uno pasa hambre y otro se embriaga^a. 22 ¿Qué? ¿No tenéis casas para comer y beber? ¿O menospreciáis la iglesia de Dios^a y avergonzáis a los que nada tienen^b? ¿Qué os diré? ¿Os alabaré? En esto no os alabaré^c. 23 Porque yo recibí del Señor lo mismo que os he enseñado^1a: que ^bel Señor Jesús, la noche en que fue entregado, tomó pan, 24 y después de dar gracias, lo partió y dijo: Esto es mi cuerpo que es¹ para vosotros; haced esto en memoria de mí. 25 De la misma manera tomó también la copa después de haber cenado, diciendo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto^a en mi sangre^b; haced esto cuantas veces la bebáis en memoria de mí. 26 Porque todas las veces que comáis este pan y bebáis esta copa, la muerte del Señor proclamáis hasta que Él venga^a. 27 De manera que el que coma el pan o beba la copa del Señor indignamente, será culpable del cuerpo y de la sangre del Señor^a. 28 Por tanto, examínese cada uno¹ a sí mismo^a, y entonces coma del pan y beba de la copa. 29 Porque el que come y bebe sin discernir correctamente el cuerpo del Señor, come y bebe juicio para sí. 30 Por esta razón hay muchos débiles y enfermos entre vosotros, y muchos duermen^1a. 31 Pero si nos juzgáramos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos juzgados. 32 Pero cuando somos juzgados, el Señor nos disciplina^a para que no seamos condenados con el mundo^b. 33 Así que, hermanos míos, cuando os reunáis para comer, esperaos unos a otros. 34 Si alguno tiene hambre^a, coma en su casa^b, para que no os reunáis para juicio. Los demás asuntos los arreglaré^c cuando vaya^d.

^aImitate me, just as I imitate Christ.

2 ^aI praise and appreciate you because you ^bremember me in everything and you ^cfirmly hold to the ¹traditions the substance of my instructions, just as I have passed them on to you. 3 But I want you to understand that Christ is the ^ahead (authority over) of every man, and ^bman is the head of woman, and God is the ^chead of Christ. 4 Every man who prays or ^1aprophesies with something on his head dishonors his head and the One who is his head. 5 And every ^awoman who prays or prophesies when she has her ¹head uncovered disgraces her head; for she is one and the same as the ²woman whose head is ^bshaved in disgrace. 6 If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and ¹if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, she should cover her head. 7 A man ought not have his head covered during worship, since he is the ^aimage and reflected glory of God; but the woman is the expression of man’s glory. Gen 1:26 8 For ^aman does not originate from woman, but woman from man; Gen 2:21-23 9 for indeed man was not created for the sake of woman, but ^awoman for the sake of man. Gen 2:18 10 Therefore the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, ¹for the sake of the angels so as not to offend them. 11 Nevertheless, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as the woman originates from the man, so also man is born through the woman; and ^aall things whether male or female originate ^bfrom God as their Creator. 13 ^1aJudge for yourselves; is it proper for a woman to offer prayer to God publicly with her head uncovered? 14 Does not common sense itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is her ornament and glory? For her long hair is given to her as a covering. 16 Now if anyone is inclined to be contentious about this, ^awe have no other practice in worship than this, nor do ^bthe churches of God in general.

17 But in giving this next instruction, ^aI do not praise you, because when you meet together it is not for the better but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you meet together in church, I hear that there are ^adivisions among you; and in part I believe it, 19 for doubtless there ^ahave to be factions among you, ^bso that those who are of approved character may be clearly recognized among you. 20 So when you meet together, it is not to eat the ¹Lord’s Supper, 21 for when you eat, each one hurries to get his own supper first not waiting for others or the poor. So one goes hungry while ^aanother gets drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you show contempt for the ^achurch of God and ^bhumiliate those impoverished believers who have nothing? What will I say to you? Shall ^cI praise you for this? In this I will not praise you!

23 ¹For ^aI received from the Lord Himself that instruction which I passed on to you, that ^bthe Lord Jesus on the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is (represents) My body, which is offered as a sacrifice for you. Do this in affectionate remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way, after supper He took ^athe cup, saying, “This cup is the ^bnew covenant ratified and established in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in affectionate remembrance of Me.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are symbolically proclaiming the fact of the Lord’s death ^auntil He comes again.

27 So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy of Him will be ^aguilty of profaning and sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But a person must prayerfully ^aexamine himself and his relationship to Christ, and only when he has done so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without solemn reverence and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ, eats and drinks a judgment on himself if he does not ¹recognize the body of Christ. 30 That careless and unworthy participation is the reason why many among you are weak and sick, and a number ^asleep in death. 31 But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behavior, we would not be judged. 32 But when we fall short and are judged by the Lord, we are ^adisciplined by undergoing His correction so that we will not be condemned to eternal punishment along with ^bthe world.

33 So then, my brothers and sisters, when you come together to eat the Lord’s Supper, wait for one another and see to it that no one is left out. 34 If anyone is too ^ahungry to wait, let him eat ^bat home, so that you will not come together for judgment on yourselves. About the remaining matters of which I was informed, I will ^ctake care of them ^dwhen I come.

^aBe imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.

17 But in giving this instruction, ^aI do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you come together ¹as a church, I hear that ^2adivisions exist among you; and in part I believe it. 19 For there ^amust also be factions among you, ^bso that those who are approved may become ¹evident among you. 20 Therefore when you meet together, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper, 21 for in your eating each one takes his own supper first; and one is hungry and ^aanother is drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the ^achurch of God and ^bshame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall ^cI praise you? In this I will not praise you.

23 For ^aI received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that ^bthe Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He took ^athe cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the ^bnew covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death ^auntil He comes.

27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be ^aguilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But a man must ^aexamine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. 30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number ^1asleep. 31 But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are ^adisciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with ^bthe world.

33 So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 If anyone is ^ahungry, let him eat ^bat home, so that you will not come together for judgment. The remaining matters I will ^carrange ^dwhen I come.
