2 ¿Qué, hijo mío?¿Qué, hijo de mis entrañas¹^a?¿Qué, hijo de mis votos^b?3 No des tu vigor a las mujeres^a,ni tus caminos a lo que destruye a los reyes^b.4 No es para los reyes, oh Lemuel,no es para los reyes^a beber vino^b,ni para los gobernantes desear bebida fuerte;5 no sea que beban y olviden lo que se ha decretado,y perviertan los derechos¹ de todos los afligidos²^a.6 Dad bebida fuerte al que está pereciendo^a,y vino a los amargados de alma^b.7 Que beba y se olvide de su pobreza,y no recuerde más su aflicción.8 ^aAbre tu boca por los mudos,por los derechos¹ de todos los desdichados².9 Abre tu boca, juzga con justicia^a,y defiende los derechos del¹ afligido y del necesitado^b.

Elogio de la mujer hacendosa

10 Mujer hacendosa¹^a, ¿quién la hallará?Su valor supera en mucho al de las joyas^b.11 En ella confía el corazón de su marido,y no carecerá de ganancias.12 Ella le trae bien y no maltodos los días de su vida.13 Busca lana y lino,y con agrado¹ trabaja con sus manos².14 Es como las naves de mercader^a,trae su alimento de lejos.15 También se levanta cuando aún es de noche^a,y da alimento a los de su casa^b,y tarea¹ a sus doncellas.16 Evalúa un campo y lo compra;con sus ganancias¹ planta una viña.17 Ella se ciñe¹^a de fuerza,y fortalece sus brazos.18 Nota que su ganancia es buena,no se apaga de noche su lámpara.19 Extiende sus manos a la rueca,y sus manos¹ toman el huso.20 Extiende su mano¹ al pobre,y alarga sus manos al necesitado^a.21 No tiene temor de la nieve por los de su casa,porque todos los de su casa llevan ropa escarlata¹^a.22 Se hace mantos^a para sí;su ropa es de lino fino^b y de púrpura^c.23 Su marido es conocido en las puertas^a,cuando se sienta con los ancianos de la tierra.24 Hace telas de lino^a y las vende,y provee¹ cinturones a los mercaderes².25 Fuerza y dignidad son su vestidura^a,y sonríe al futuro¹.26 Abre su boca con sabiduría^a,y hay enseñanza¹ de bondad en su lengua.27 Ella vigila la marcha de su casa,y no come el pan de la ociosidad^a.28 Sus hijos se levantan y la llaman bienaventurada,también su marido, y la alaba diciendo:29 Muchas mujeres¹ han obrado con nobleza,pero tú las superas a todas.30 Engañosa es la gracia y vana la belleza,pero la mujer que teme¹ al SEÑOR^a,esa será alabada.31 Dadle el fruto de sus manos,y que sus obras la alaben en las puertas.

The words of ¹King Lemuel, the oracle, which his mother taught him:

2 What, O my ¹son?And what, O ^ason of my womb?And what shall I advise you, O son of my ^bvows?3 ^aDo not give your generative strength to women neither foreign wives in marriages of alliances, nor ¹concubines,Nor your ways to that which ^bdestroys kings.4 It is not for ^akings, O Lemuel,It is not for kings to ^bdrink wine,Or for rulers to desire strong drink, Eccl 10:17; Hos 4:115 Otherwise they drink and forget the law and its decrees,And ^apervert the rights and justice of all the afflicted.6 Give strong drink as medicine to him who is ready to ^apass away,And wine to him ^bwhose life is bitter.7 Let him drink and forget his povertyAnd no longer remember his trouble.8 ^aOpen your mouth for the mute,For the rights of all who are unfortunate and defenseless; 1+@Sam 19:4; Esth 4:16; Job 29:15, 169 Open your mouth, ^ajudge righteously,And administer ^bjustice for the afflicted and needy. Description of a Worthy Woman

10 ¹An ^aexcellent woman one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous, who is he who can find her?Her value is ^bmore precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls. Prov 12:4; 18:22; 19:1411 The heart of her husband trusts in her with secure confidence,And he will have no lack of gain.12 She comforts, encourages, and does him only good and not evilAll the days of her life.13 She looks for wool and flaxAnd works with willing hands in delight.14 She is like the ^amerchant ships abounding with treasure;She brings her household’s food from far away.15 She ^arises also while it is still nightAnd ^bgives food to her householdAnd assigns tasks to her maids. Job 23:1216 She considers a field before she buys or accepts it expanding her business prudently;With her profits she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard.17 She ^aequips herself with strength spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given taskAnd makes her arms strong.18 She sees that her gain is good;Her lamp does not go out, but it burns continually through the night she is prepared for whatever lies ahead.19 She stretches out her hands to the ¹distaff,And her hands hold the spindle as she spins wool into thread for clothing.20 She ^aopens and extends her hand to the poor,And she reaches out her filled hands to the needy.21 She does not fear the snow for her household,For all in her household are ^aclothed in expensive scarlet wool. Prov 12:424 She makes fine ^alinen garments and sells them;And supplies sashes to the merchants.25 Strength and ^adignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure;And she smiles at the future knowing that she and her family are prepared.26 She ^aopens her mouth in skillful and godly wisdom,And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue giving counsel and instruction.27 She looks well to how things go in her household,And does not eat the ^abread of idleness. 1+@Tim 5:14; Titus 2:528 Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) ;Her husband also, and he praises her, saying,29 “Many daughters have done nobly, and well with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness,¹But you excel them all.”30 Charm and grace are deceptive, and superficial beauty is vain,But a woman who ^afears the LORD reverently worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect, she shall be praised.31 Give her of the product of her hands,And let her own works praise her in the gates of the city.
