Then I looked, and this is what I saw: ^athe Lamb stood firmly established on ^bMount Zion, and with Him ^ca hundred and forty-four thousand who had ^dHis name and His Father’s ^ename inscribed ^fon their foreheads signifying God’s own possession. Joel 2:32 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like ^athe sound of great waters and like the ^brumbling of mighty thunder; and the voice that I heard seemed like music and was like the sound of ^charpists playing on their harps. 3 And they sang ^aa new song before the throne of God and before the ^bfour living creatures and the ^celders; and ^dno one could learn the song except the ^ehundred and forty-four thousand who had been ^fpurchased (ransomed, redeemed) from the earth. Rev 7:4-8 4 ^aThese are the ones who have not been defiled by relations with women, for they are celibate. These are the ones who ^bfollow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been ^cpurchased and redeemed from among men of Israel ^das the first fruits sanctified and set apart for special service for God and the Lamb. Mark 8:34 5 ^aNo lie was found in their mouth, for they are ^bblameless (spotless, untainted, beyond reproach) .

6 Then I saw another angel flying in ^amidheaven, with ^ban ¹eternal gospel to preach to ^cthe inhabitants of the earth, to ^devery nation and tribe and language and people; Rom 1:1-4; 1+@Cor 15:3-5; Gal 1:6, 7 7 and he said with a loud voice, “^aFear God with awe and reverence, and ^bgive Him glory and honor and praise in worship, because the hour of His judgment has come; with all your heart worship Him who ^ccreated the heaven and the earth, the sea and the ^dsprings of water.”

8 Then another angel, a second one, followed, saying, “^aFallen, fallen is ^bBabylon the great, she who has ^cmade all nations drink the ^dwine of the passion of her immorality corrupting them with idolatry.” Is 21:9; Dan 4:30, 31; Rev 17:2

9 Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “Whoever ^aworships the beast and his ^bimage and receives the ^cmark of the beast on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he too will have to drink of the ^awine of the wrath of God, ¹mixed undiluted ^binto the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with ^cfire and brimstone (flaming sulfur) in the presence of the ^dholy angels and in the presence of the Lamb (Christ) . Gen 19:24; Jer 25:15, 16; Luke 12:9 11 And the ^asmoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and ^bthey have no rest day and night—those who ^cworship the beast and his ^dimage, and whoever receives the ^emark of his name.” Is 34:10; Mark 9:48 12 Here is encouragement for ^athe steadfast endurance of the saints (God’s people) , those who habitually ^bkeep God’s commandments and ^ctheir faith in Jesus.

13 Then I heard the distinct words of a voice from heaven, saying, “Write, ‘^1aBlessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) are the dead who ^bdie in the Lord from now on!’” “Yes, blessed indeed,” ^csays the Spirit, “so that they may ^drest and have relief from their labors, for their ^edeeds do follow them.”

14 Again I looked, and this is what I saw: a ^awhite cloud, and sitting on the cloud was One ^blike the Son of Man, with a ^ccrown of gold on His head and a sharp sickle of swift judgment in His hand. Dan 7:13, 14; Matt 13:30, 40-42 15 And another angel ^acame out of the temple, calling with a loud voice to Him who was sitting upon the cloud, “^bPut in Your sickle and reap at once, for the hour to reap in judgment has arrived, because the earth’s ^charvest is fully ripened.” Joel 3:13 16 So He who was sitting on the cloud cast His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped (judged) .

17 Then another angel ^acame out of the temple (sanctuary) in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came from ^athe altar, ^bthe one who has power over fire; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “^cPut in your sharp sickle and reap the clusters of grapes from the vine of the earth, ^dbecause her grapes are ripe for judgment.” Luke 9:54 19 So the angel swung his sickle to the earth and harvested the grapevine of the earth, and threw the grapes into ^athe great wine press of the wrath and indignation of God as judgment of the rebellious world. Is 63:3 20 And the grapes in ^athe wine press were trampled and crushed ^boutside the city, and ^cblood poured from the wine press, reaching up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of ¹sixteen hundred stadia. Joel 3:13; Heb 13:12

17 And another angel ^acame out of the ¹temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 Then another angel, ^athe one who has power over fire, came out from ^bthe altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “^1cPut in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters ²from the vine of the earth, ^dbecause her grapes are ripe.” 19 So the angel ¹swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into ^athe great wine press of the wrath of God. 20 And ^athe wine press was trampled ^boutside the city, and ^cblood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, ¹for a distance of ²1,600 stadia.
